My Kitty Hat

I put my knitting away and then this little creation appeared.
How it began is a mystery but I finished it and I feel a sense of accomplishment.
lol
The hat was done on very thin needles used for socks.
Another to add to my collection
I think I will soon have a store I can open with my own finished projects.
lol
It's nice to sit and do something without having to look at patterns or counts stitches.
Now I have to make something to go with it so it's a set.

At the bottom of the picture is a strand of folded chip bags to make a purse with.
It takes 7 x 60 link strands to make a small purse.
Now I know I can make them.
Quite exciting because it is not hard to do and the bags are gorgeous.
It pays to do projects.:)

A Cover for a Lover

This is a cover I am making and embroidering . I put the squares together in panels but will do some other things to it before putting it completely together.
I already have the sides to attach to it compliments of my knitting machine. :)

Pretty soon it will be ready to use for Christmas to bring color to a room and picture taking.
I have to find some outlines to make hearts and birds, like an owl, to fill in the empty squares.
Then I have to think what to put for the backing. Maybe I can quilt it as well.
So far it looks great and I am quite happy with it.


It's not Christmas but you have to see this crazy dog . He is having the time of his life playing. This is a great way to wash animals.



I remember in Quebec we would have snow like in the video.
My Mom would take out her Persian carpet from the living room and we would put snow on it
and broom it on both sides.
It would take all the dust out of it and clean it so when we would bring it back inside it smelled so fresh for another year. I don't remember my Mom ever using chemicals on it to wash it.
Just plain fresh white snow.

Three women go down to Mexico one night to celebrate college graduation,

Electrical Engineering, and I'll tell ya right now, ya'll ain't gonna

electrocute nobody if you don't plug this thing in.

Christmas Bag

This is an unexpected Christmas bag . I had two pieces I machine knitted to make pillow casings.
Then I decided I can make a bag out of them.So I crocheted a green strip to sew around it with a shoulder strap
It still needs a lining and a lining for the strap so it doesn't stretch. It also needs three big buttons in front and maybe a felt Santa or snow man in the front for decoration. So far, I like what I did.

I might add some pockets to the lining for glasses, keys, phone, and calculator, maybe even a mirror and a pocket for aspirin or vitamins.lol

Something like this, since it's red and white, can also easily be turned into a
good Red Cross bag with many different bandages, peroxide, iodine, hot and cold pads, sun screen, etc....

It's also good to use for over night sleep overs, as a book bag, a lap top carrier, or as a present bag.
Instead of paper, you give something, in something else, a person can use.

So many things can be made out of squares. Toilet paper holders for Christmas with a little ribbon and lace around would definitely enrich any ones' powder room.

Machine knitting is fun and now using felt to make pictures on pieces you knit,
can make you nice projects all around.

Well........who said life is boring eh? lol

A Collage of my pass time hobby.

Two Chemo Hats with matching cuffs, Slippers out of squares, baby shoes out of felt,

1 black seamans' hat, 3 alpaca hats, one puffy pink scarf,

2 baby sweaters, the beige one is beautiful with front buttons, as is the
very soft white and bone newborn blanky that can be used for a Christening.

The blue and white blanky is also quite special at least for me and the white and pink little sweater is also quite cute.

I love making collages.

Old but New.

This was my very first attempt at sweater making.
It is a size 10/12. I made for my first son who is thirty now.
My second son also wore it a few times.

By now its quite old. At least 20 years old.
I washed it only once and now its waiting to be worn
again by another family member.
I remember going, to what was then, The Hudson's Bay Co
and found one like it selling for 125.00
To be sure..... I flipped. But I figured out it goes by
how many colors you put into it.

Today the Bay sells pure wool sweaters for 25 dollars
so it isn't even worth going through the trouble of making them.
To buy thread alone is too expensive and then to do the work
but for those special gifts, where a person's hand made item is
valued, it certainly is worth the trouble.

Also you can change colors and create designs special to the person it is meant for.

hats hats hats

Sometimes watching TV can be rewarding.
As long as your hands are busy funny things happen.

Your stock grows.... and grows.....and grows.
Before you know it, bureaus get full of your own made stuff
and one day they will make great personal gifts.

The little green yellow and off white hat was already nationalized by my son
He loves it lol It is done with both knitting and crocheting.
but I have to finish the scarf that goes with it. It needs a few more rows to get the length I want.
It is also green but I cannot find the right shade of green for it, so it is WAY behind schedule.

I do these projects with left over thread But then, like with the green hat, I will have again a lot of left over thread from another roll I need to buy to finish the scarf It will be enough to make another hat and scarf set with .
And so it goes.......

Knitting is The Life

Yesterday was a very nice Sunday even with the dull wet weather.
My son did not run anywhere and neither did my husband.
The two of them sat and chatted about cars and soccer and school and it was sooo nice to listen to them.
The family was at peace and everyone was happy.I busied myself to make them the salad they wanted with cheese for lunch and this after I made my husband the rare breakfast he eats with bacon, eggs and toast. The thing with my family is that I have to suggest to them what I have to make them and then it needs to sit a while for them to absorb it and get a taste for it, before they ask me to make them something.
lol The men today are worse than women with their diets and figures.lol

We later went out to look at a few cars since my son now needs one.

Volks wagons apparently all have transmission problems and the guy told my son the car he was interested in, was just redone, so we said thank you and goodbye.

Rebuilt transmissions hardly ever work. Its asking for another transmission job in a year or so. So sad. What happened to Volkswagon???
Even the clutches break and cost a mint to repair.

The US has such low car prices and here, we have to pay through the nose.
Hardly seems fair. It’s the same car.
Since I will not have my car tomorrow, I asked my son to take me to Walmart for thread to finish my scarf.

Walmart is doing a reno job so I don’t like going there right now but today they seem to have done a lot of progress and I found what I needed and got extra things like water for soccer, toothpaste, a smoothy mixer you drink from like a cup for my son and he got himself vitamins to keep himself healthy and strong.He is the youngest on his team and he says the men they play against are much bigger and tougher.For my husband I got the back support pillow to rest against in bed with arms on the side.I have been looking at it for a long time.

As for me, its always the same.

You make things and then run out just at the end so you buy more and then you have so much left you begin another project lol
I began a nice wool sweater with a yoke for my husband but it looked small.

Well my husband shrunk as well. Loll

The man hardly eats and I have to always pay attention to this and email him at work to make sure he doesn't forget to eat. I have become what you call, a nag lol

He jokes saying he eats to live so that leaves me with living to eat, cause I enjoy flavors. Well, what can I say. People need balanced meals. Loll
Now I make sure to make him sandwiches cause if I don’t he will never go and get something.
He’ll just work right through lunch and come home a grouchy bear till his stomach is full.

I like things to be big and bulky so I was disappointed and stopped knitting this sweater, at the yoke part.

I might finish it this week.
It will fit him . Its more for skiers in Switzerland so it will be warm.
If not, then I guess I can sell it.
I am soo proud of it, except for the size.

When we first met at University, I bought him one similar for his birthday and he loved it.
I don’t know if he loved it for the sweater or because I bought it . lol
He wore it and wore it and wore it and wore it, my handsome
Engineering student.:)And I was tickled that he did.

Now that I am sooo good at knitting (cough cough) I may pick up the stitches above the elbows And reknit the arms of this ancient sweater.
Elbows are very hard on sweaters and this one has many memories now.
Hardly seems worth it to throw away. Loll It needs resurrecting lol

When I finish this new one, I have another pattern, for the woodsman. It is shown in the picture above.
It has deer on it and a zipper and it looks like a jacket.Walmart has the zipper and I should have bought it because they are hard to find.
I find it doesn’t take that long to make these sweaters and people really appreciate them.But I want to run it with two threads, one out of wool and the other normal thread.This way it will not shrink and will be thicker.

I saw one woman doing this and she said it was well worth it.
She made them for childrens' charity plus she had two adopted girls from somewhere in Africa.
It's amazing how many women you meet at these sports events doing such crafts.
This time, I will make the sweater XL or even XXL It is disappointing to find out the pattern is too small after you are almost done the sweater.
The model wearing the sweater doesn’t look that small.The sweater, if it's too big can be worn over a fleecy or even a leather jacket for extra warmth.
It can be very helpful when you stand around watching soccer games.

These will be my new projects for Christmas.

Knitters delight....

These little guys were so easy and fun to make I could do them forever.

What happened was, I began making squares . Then I decided against making the blanket I wanted to make, but I had all these squares. I tried to think what I could do with them and then it dawned on me that I could make slippers.

These are for children.

All you have to do is close up the front and sew up the back and any crochet or sewing method can be used. After all its your slipper.

I alsodouble sewed the sole so as to make it warmer, softer, and cushiony, to step on.

The yellow one on the far right, has a mop bottom so when you walk you can mop the dust off the floor lol

Oops they are separated. The other one is beside the yellow and black slipper.lol

They are easy to wash and wear again.

The white pair, is from my first boy who is quite old now but his little bootie is still here.

Those were knitted from scratch, when knitting was a novelty to me.

One ball of thread can make enough squares for 3 pairs of slippers for a child.

Then you can use left over thread from other balls to play with, to finish the slipper with pom poms, little animals faces, etc....

I had so much fun making them,I was sorry I ran out of squares.

These are two Alpaca hats I made.
The pattern was simple and easy to do in the car while watching soccer.
I just love it when things turn out. lol

Creative Knitting Magazine March 2009

I am on the first green part at the bottom of the page and it seems to get wider there.

They start you off with 135 stitches then seems to increase to 202 stitiches at the part I am at now. I hope it doesn't increase more. Maybe it will decrease once you do some other gathering thingy.

I didn't read through the pattern. I am just going line by line.

The colors are very pretty so I couldn't resist not making it. It needs a yellow duck now. lol

Good Morning Thursday!

One more day and every one will be doing the Friday dance loll
The week went by quite quickly and I still wish it was day and day and day. Loll

I began knitting a new throw yesterday. Couldn’t resist.
All the ladies are showing off their beautiful artwork and
Quilts and I got the itch again.

I already made about 5 king sized bed spreads out of sheep wool and alpaca.
The alpaca was a bit rougher, heavier but it's sooo warm.
My guys love them because they say the holes let air in and the wool keeps the heat in,
so they keep telling me to make more of them.
They are good projects to do in the car if your’re a soccer Mom like I am .
Quite expensive though but affordable if you buy the thread a bit each week.

This throw will be smaller. I am using baby blue, bright yellow, and a bright green in wool colors.
I guess I will crochet a white edging all around, just to give it a clean look.

I thought would be great for kids and Easter and now made work for myself.
My other art work is standing in a room waiting to be finished.
I always say a picture is never finished.
It’s a lifelong project.
But I will.

Knitting is done in front of the TV set and of course the news .
Afghanistan passed new (old) laws for women which got me a bit perturbed.

Our soldiers are helping a regime that still enslaves women and I concluded if that’s the case, we are not helping anything change, so we should bring our soldiers back home.
War is bad but if you are going to fight, then do the job and get out.
Prolonging suffering doesn't help anyone.
Doesn't help people forget and move on.

In Russia, when soldiers were told to go against the people, the women went to each one and said, I am your Mother. You want to kill me???
The realization of what they were doing, hit them in the heart and they immediately changed sides but with these Taliban…
who knows what is in their heads if they consider their Mothers to be nothing more than cattle.
The law says they are.
So sad.

So then I thought I'd look up some good things in archives and see what happened on the second of April.
Except for Charlie Chaplin coming back to the US in 1972 , the rest seemed to be quite gloomy.

So then I switched and figured well yesterday was fun.

Every day should have some fun in it and sure enough, The Hour told us a story about Obama and the Queen.

St Peter and the three friends.

Three men were waiting at Heaven's Gate. St. Peter says, "OK, guys, have fun,
