Edible Cakes....artistic but ...for real...

ALL these cakes are completely edible cakes made by a lady in Russia . Unbelievable! and they are said to taste as good as they look...pleasing to the eye...and a delight to the taste buds....Yummy

All you see below are cakes that can be eaten without any part of it left out. No plastics or any other artificial stuff is being used--everything is made of natural ingredients. All the cakes by Zhanna from St. Petersburg .

LIMPOPO, LIMPOPO, LIMPOPO

Limpopo, Limpopo, Limpopo

A name I remember from a famous Russian fable by Chukovsky, Dr Aybolit, who

took youngsters to the darkest

Africa,Limpopo.

Dr Aybolit ( dr it hurts terribly) would come to rescue

animals in distress.

His archrival was the horrible Barmaley .

This was a huge crocodile who every one feared

because he ate everyone. He looked something like the crocodile

in Peter Pans' story who ate the Pirates’ hand and then kept stocking him.

I remembered this story, which I read over and over again with

wide open eyes as a child, when I came across

Limpopo, in South Africa.

I cheered for Dr Aybolit simply because of his name

It sounded painful and it kept your attention focused on him

His life was about helping to remove pain.

He was a savior, a hero, who would trek through all kind of danger,

not fearing for his own life, with Barmaley in hot in pursuit.

Dr. Aybolit was a meak little man who wore thick glasses and was highly unqualified to trek through dangerous Africa.

Dr Aybolit can be compared to todays’

Dr. DooLittle who also talks to animals.

The author Chukovsky, was a good friend of our famous and glorious, Dr Seuss

who still keeps children fighting over his books in school Libraries. Is it no wonder their writing styles are so similar and so popular all over the world?

My fav Quotes by Dr seuss:

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

“A person's a person, no matter how small.”

HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY

Well the day has finally arrived.

GOOD FRIDAY.

A pretty sombre day commemorating the crusifiction of Jesus, to those of us who celebrate Easter.
It has a special meaning for me regardless of whether or not Jesus was the son of God.
It is irrelevant to me. I choose to believe in him for what he believed and for who he was and for what he represents to this day.

1) He believed he was the son of God.

2) He died believing he was dying for the world's salvation. He wanted his Father, God, to respect his love for people "who do not understand what they do". He asked him for his mercy.and he asked him for hope for a people of his creation.
He lived with people so he understood them better than the Father.

He self sacrificed as a lamb and not as a lion, to earthly powers, without objections, as if he knew this had to be.
This certainly makes Christians different from Muhammads followers.

3) His forgiving of the other two criminals hanging beside him, was also significant, in that if they didn't believe, if he didn't get them to believe in him, then why would they ask forgiveness of another crucified man? What hypnotic spell or trickery, could a mortal, man do on them?

4) and why would there be a storm immediately after his passing?

As a child, I remember the day my Mother pulled me into this little delapidated church, in Montreal, which has since been torn down because they were building a Metro system.
The last thing I wanted to do was stand in church but when we opened the door.....
something undescribable happened. I couldn't explain it as anything else but HOLY.

There was nothing special about that church It was old, smelly and rotting but I wish to this day, they did not tear it down. I don't even remember where it stood exactly but I am sure that whatever is in that spot, is still Holy.

Whenever I had a bad dream, I would wake up with a pounding heart and cross myself, and it immediately took away the horror and replaced it with Peace because I knew then, I had nothing I to fear. I was being looked after.
A very small thing but it kept me safe.

Whenever I drive, I keep a guardian angel icon with me for the road and being on the road so much, I had so many bad things that could have happened to me but for some reason didn't because something always foretold me of danger ahead.
So uncanny and beyond belief and I really need to knock on wood not to jynx myself for telling this story. lol

Once on a highway, we were driving relatively fast. It was around 11pm and we were doing a cross country run. For no reason something told me .....slow down here.
There was no reason to slow down. It was a perfect road, empty, wide. The moon was out so it wasn't very dark.

Anyway, just then this huge Moose ran across the road. His body was higher than the front of my Ford 150 truck. He was looking at me with this yellow eye . I could see his muscles ripple as he ran past, that was how close he was to the truck. Where he came from, I don't know.
I had just enough braking power to slow down, to allow him to pass without hitting him.

I had two kids sleeping in the truck. Had I hit him, we probably would have been a statistic today.
After that night I said to myself ..no more.
No point to risk your life to save a few minutes time.
I never saved time anyway because there was always something forcing me to make a detour away from the main highway.
So time I made in one place, I lost in another.
I found if I stopped at 5pm, had a good nights sleep and then continued the next day at 8 am, I had better timing and less fatigue, than doing it my way. lol

Incidences like this, made me understand that if it is your time, you will not have these impulses to do things you would not otherwise do and then finding that having not done them, would have cost you your life.
I guess every one must get them every now and then but I pay attention when I do.

Another thing I find weird about myself.
I could be anywhere, doing anything and for no apparent reason, by accident, I happen to look into a persons eyes and the person into mine and a thought pops into my head, that this person is going to die.
Its a momentary thing and life goes on. I don't know this person but later on somehow, I find out the person died.
Why was I told this? What was I supposed to do with this info?
Was I meant to stop it? Was I meant to look ridiculously insane by going up to a total stranger and telling him to be careful?

As you walk through life, things happen, which leave you at a loss as to what you have to or need to do.
I know now that if it ever happens to me again, I will tell this person to be careful.
Maybe it will help change destiny. Only God knows how many times mine has been. :)

So with all this in mind I celebrate Good Friday but I look forward more for the ressurection of a man who believed in good ness and love, enough to go through all this for people, so they understand.

I am not a particularly religious person because I have no faith in the people who profess they are working for God. I believe religion should not involve money. It's personal and holy and if you go to pray into God's house, well this world is all God's house.
This planet is a miracle. Life is a miracle. Love is a miracle. Knowledge is a miracle.
Survival is a miracle.
We live miracles every day and we don't even know it.

Have a Blessed day and thanks for listening to my ramblings. lol

Good Morning Thursday!!

Van Gogh

Good Morning Thursday!

One more day and every one will be doing the Friday dance loll
The week went by quite quickly and I still wish it was day and day and day. Loll

I began knitting a new throw yesterday. Couldn’t resist.
All the ladies are showing off their beautiful artwork and
Quilts and I got the itch again.

I already made about 5 king sized bed spreads out of sheep wool and alpaca.
The alpaca was a bit rougher, heavier but it's sooo warm.
My guys love them because they say the holes let air in and the wool keeps the heat in,
so they keep telling me to make more of them.
They are good projects to do in the car if your’re a soccer Mom like I am .
Quite expensive though but affordable if you buy the thread a bit each week.

This throw will be smaller. I am using baby blue, bright yellow, and a bright green in wool colors.
I guess I will crochet a white edging all around, just to give it a clean look.

I thought would be great for kids and Easter and now made work for myself.
My other art work is standing in a room waiting to be finished.
I always say a picture is never finished.
It’s a lifelong project.
But I will.

Knitting is done in front of the TV set and of course the news .
Afghanistan passed new (old) laws for women which got me a bit perturbed.

Our soldiers are helping a regime that still enslaves women and I concluded if that’s the case, we are not helping anything change, so we should bring our soldiers back home.
War is bad but if you are going to fight, then do the job and get out.
Prolonging suffering doesn't help anyone.
Doesn't help people forget and move on.

In Russia, when soldiers were told to go against the people, the women went to each one and said, I am your Mother. You want to kill me???
The realization of what they were doing, hit them in the heart and they immediately changed sides but with these Taliban…
who knows what is in their heads if they consider their Mothers to be nothing more than cattle.
The law says they are.
So sad.

So then I thought I'd look up some good things in archives and see what happened on the second of April.
Except for Charlie Chaplin coming back to the US in 1972 , the rest seemed to be quite gloomy.

1977 Red Rum, a race horse, won the English Grand National for the third time in Liver pool, running a 4.5 mile run.

1987 the US speed limit increased to 65 mph.

So then I switched and figured well yesterday was fun.

Every day should have some fun in it and sure enough, The Hour told us a story about Obama and the Queen.

Obama went to England and gave the Queen a present.

An ipod. Loll
Now that was funny .
That’s something my son would do loll

And you know….. she’ll probably enjoy it.

Queen joke
At Heathrow Airport in England. A 300-foot red carpet was stretched out to Air Force One and President Bush strode to a warm but dignified handshake from Queen Elizabeth II. They rode in a silver 1934 Bentley to the edge of central London where they boarded an open 17th century coach hitched to six magnificent white horses. As they rode toward Buckingham Palace, each looking to their side and waving to the thousands of cheering Britons lining the streets, all was going well. This was indeed a glorious display of pageantry and dignity.Suddenly the scene was shattered when the right rear horse let rip the most horrendous, earth-shattering, eye-smarting blast of flatulence, and the coach immediately filled with noxious fumes.Uncomfortable, but maintaining control, the two dignitaries did their best to ignore the whole incident, but then the Queen decided that was a ridiculous manner with which to handle a most embarrassing situation. She turned to Mr. Bush and explained, "Mr. President, please accept my regrets. I'm sure you understand that there are some things even a Queen cannot control."George W., ever the Texas intellectual and gentleman, replied, "Your Majesty, please don't give the matter another thought. You know, if you hadn't said something I would have assumed it was one of the horses

St Peter and the three friends.

Three men were waiting at Heaven's Gate. St. Peter says, "OK, guys, have fun,
but whatever you do, never lie, or you will spend the rest of eternity
with the ugliest women in the universe."

The guys agreed and were admitted in.
After a week, the first guy lied about how rich he was on Earth.
Bam!
Right at his side appears the ugliest woman he had ever seen.
The second guy made it for two weeks before he also lied about how smart he was.
Bam!
At his side appears the second ugliest woman in the universe.

So, here they were, two guys are walking around with their monsters of women, when
Suddenly, they see their third friend walking with the hottest woman ever conceived by man.

They couldn't believe it.
They asked him: "How did you land with that babe, when we get stuck with these nasty women?"

The third guy nudged his girl and says, "Tell them."

She said to the two friends............... "I lied."

Abram Petrovich Hannibal and Alexander Pushkin

Savva Ragurzinsky and Peter Andreeyevich Tolstoy got orders from Czar, Peter the Great, to bring a 7 year old Ethiopian Prince,
(who was taken captive and brought to Istanbul) to Russia.
Peter baptized him and gave him his name, Peter, and Gen Hannibal’s last name.

Abram Petrovich Hannibal
was then sent to France to be educated in 7 languages, history, arts, science, math, geometry, war fare, etc.

In France he met Diderot.

Voltaire, called Hannibal “a dark star of enlightenment”.
Hannibal became Captain and then came back to Russia.

When Peter died Hannibal was sent to Siberia but when Peter’s Daughter Elizabeth became Queen,
she brought him back.

He became a General and she gave him land and serfs.

Hannibal married a Greek woman Evdokia Dioper.
It was a forced marriage and she began to cheat on him so he put her in jail for
11 years and later divorced her.

He then got himself a Scandinavian girl Christina Regina Sioberg 1705 – 1781
He had 10 children with her.

One of these children was Osip.
Osip had a daughter Nadezhda who married Serge Pushkin and became the Mother of Alexander Pushkin.

Pushkin was not a likeable child and his Mom sent him to his Grand Mothers a lot but he was really raised by his Nanny, Arina Rodionovna .
She loved him, read to him, pampered him.
It is for her he wrote a lovely poem.

According to the family tree , it seems there was some family intermarriage.

Abram Hannibal had a son Osip, who married a Maria Pushkin
They had a daughter Nadezsda.

Nadezsda married Sergei Pushkin, son of Lev Pushkin and Olga Pushkin

Nadezshda and Sergei had Alexander Pushkin.

Pushkin was said to have had a hot temper , gambled and loved women.
They blamed it on his black side .
Pushkin died in a duel trying to protect his wife’s honor.

Pushkins blood can be found in British Natalia Grosvenor, Duchess of Westminster
And George Mountbatten, 4th Marquess of Milford Haven.
