Jobs Make People Laugh.

This dog is amazing. And not one swear word was used to make him do something.
That's why I love old comedians too , like Rodney Dangerfield, Milton Berle, Red Buttons, Totie Fields, Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, George Burns. They sure are missed.
They made jokes that crossed through all age groups.
Old Comedians were funny without using bad language.
They knew how to laugh at themselves and I guess this is what made them funny.

Like for example we have to give it to parent Diplomacy.

A Son calls his Mother to ask how she is
She says: I am feeling very weak.
Why?Asks the son
Because I haven't eaten in 38 days. answers the Mother
Why? asks the son
Because I didn't want my mouth to be full when you called.
lol

When I read about the Evils of drinking , I stop reading.

--------------------------------
Why does a Mother make a good parole officer?
She never lets any one else finish a sentence .

--------------------------------------------------
There is a big controversy on when life begins.
In some traditions a fetus is not viable until after it graduates from law or medical school .

They left behind videos for us to enjoy. I especially loved to see Ed Sullivan there.
He always had a REALLY BIG SHOW and so many people were discovered and became great stars because of him.

Life is Like That

I wonder ..... where is sleeping beauty?

lol

I had an idea of how to do my next shawl but then once it began to turn out I realized I had to continue with the same thread.
Since I am using left overs this was not to be if it was to turn out nice.
So I asked my son to take me to the store since I like company, and he of course said no.
His life is way too busy.
So I said fine, once you finish you can take me to the store and then get gas.
Since he needs gas, he finished up quickly and took me to the store. lol

I looked and looked but the thread disappears quickly or is not replaced as it was in the past.

I was not going to find the color I needed.
Always happens this way.

But I found a mixed color thread which would match wonderfully.
So I bought it and just now tried it out and am thrilled.
It compliments the light mauve perfectly and will make it nicer than I imagined it would turn out
if I continue doing it without mistakes.

I hope I'm right.

This one is a simpler fan stitch but the directions were not written well so I had a bit of trouble with the run on instructions.

It's a long rectangle and also very nice for evening wear.

I already can't wait to show the end product.

I love to learn new stitching and new crafts. So much I still want to do.

The weeks are just too short.

Hope you have enough to do to enjoy your day today.

I'm Enjoying a mug of green beer guarding my pot of Gold. :)

Blue Tsawwassen Beach

We walked along the beach in the early evening.
The wind blew from the shore as the tide rolled in
It was cold and we had to tighten our coats around us
and dig our hands into our pockets.
We got to a nice big log on the beach and sat on it

My husband poured the coffee we brought in the cannister.
It was nice and hot and welcome
Every now and then someone walks by with their dog
The dogs have a great time here
They don't mind the cold nor the freezing water.
They chase balls and sea gulls and the sea gulls love to tease them.
What a great life living by the sea.
You never get tired watching the waves in the early morning sun and the late sunsets.
Neither of us spoke as we stood and just breathed
A moment of solitude
A moment of togetherness.
A moment to love

Hope you had a good one.:)

Talent Born Every Day

You just finished playing the piano with your best companion helping you sing to the tunes you played.
You left the room to go shopping and now wonder what your companion must be doing while you are away.
This is how Talent is born Every day.
Enjoy!

Beware of Spiders.

I found this one funny.
Its about a barking spider.

At first I thought there was such a thing because they said it's the only spider that lifts its butt
and lets out some putrid smell before biting its victim
Well it resembles more of a skunk behavior than a spiders'
but all it is , is an urban legend about flatulence.

So next time don't say you farted.
Say:
Oh my Goodness!!
We're infested with barking spiders!!
and see them run lol

The doggie in the picture is a cutie pie.

Have a good one.:)

Crazy Chair

I have always wanted to try doing something like tbhis to see if it would work out.
It's a nice way to recycle cardboard and with a bit of paint it would make for great items for a childs room which is easily thrown out at a much later date.

The captcha letters are not on some blogs so I can't comment on them.

Water is the best to help flush the toxins out of your body.
However there is a correct time to drink water.

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its
effectiveness on the body:
-- 2 glasses of water after waking up helps activate
internal organs
-- 1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal helps
digestion
-- 1 glass of water before taking a bath helps lower
blood pressure
-- 1 glass of water before going to bed avoids stroke
or heart attack

Water at bed time will
also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg
muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and
wake you up with a Charlie Horse

A Quest for Amusement.

What amuses you? To amuse means to occupy, in an agreeable, pleasing, or entertaining fashion.

I asked around and the following are some responses people gave.

Religion amuses me.

Love amuses me.

People amuse me cause they make me laugh. Like comedians with funny faces.

Tupoc was a gansta and he amuses me. I wanna be a G man too.

I always get amused by the unceasing efforts of hate mongers to make fun of you and your beliefs.

Dreamers, cause they are like sci fie.

People holding hands

Graffiti and Strange art cause some of it is real good.

Animals acting like people and people like animals. Both funny.
When a monkey punches a person in the face.

Bull shit conversations about nothing like Seinfeld and Two and Half Men

Understanding human nature amuses me. In particular, understanding and solving problems that seem complex, but whose solution is deceptively simple.

Playing with my kid and have it suddenly turn beat red and poop

Soccer fights, hockey fights.

People falling down doing stupid stunts.

Farts always amuse me especially when I have to conceal it.

Negative comments

Neil Postman had some Quotes to think about

But in Huxley's vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think.

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one.
Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information.
Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism.
Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance.
Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy.
As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions".
In 1984, Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure.
In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us.

It amuses me to see that one of these men ............seems to be right.
However like anything else, it depends on which side of the coin you are looking at. lol

Have a great day!

I Swallowed a Fly

Has there ever been a time when you've swallowed a fly?

My Mom always used to tell the kids, close your mouth or you'll swallow a fly.
Sleeping at night with your mouth open? That's a risk.

Swallowing a fly could also mean when you say or do something you wish you didn't.
Another way to say it is putting your foot in your mouth.

I loved this story because this woman swallowed a fly but didn't learn her lesson.
She kept swallowing larger and larger things until she burst, teaching people and kids, once again, that Mom's are right. Swallowing flies have consequences.

Is it no wonder why this is such a popular story.
So many people can relate to it.

Now looking back I have to ask when did I swallow a fly?

I remember swallowing mosquitoes driving my motor boat and a few times when the car window was open, a few managed to fly in.

It's amazing how they get right to the back of your throat and force themselves to be swallowed by an automatic reaction of the larynx whereby you begin coughing to get it out because you don't know what you swallowed.

Putting ones foot in ones mouth is terribly embarrassing and trying to cover up by smoothing it over, leads into more and more lies.
I am a very bad liar because my face gives it away before the lie gets out of my mouth.
It's like I have LIAR written on my forehead where every one could see it.

So I can't swallow a fly without people knowing about it.
This makes me not as much fun to be with, as say another person, who doesn't have to search far in his pocket, to find words and stories. to off set the lie he/she began in the first place.
These are very talented people and all we can do is wait and see how much they can swallow before they burst and die. lol
As we all know, nothing lasts forever and lies usually catch up to you, especially when you tell so many of them your mind gets confused.

I enjoyed this story. It's not just for kids. lol

Have a fun day!

My Halloween Family

These are some of the masks I collected over the years.
We had so much fun with them.I prefer the half face ones because you see better in them and can breathe better as well.

My son found his old super man outfit when he was 10 and wore it yesterday for his halloween down town with friends. Its kinda small but it ties around you so any age can wear it .
I don't know which face mask he used but he took a few for his friends as well.
I told him to make sure he brought them back home as I like to have costumes around for occasions such as these. People say declutter. How can you declutter? you throw things away only to have to rebuy junk so may as well keep what you have. lol

I miss not doing any more Halloween shows. If I had grand children it would force me to continue but my street is very quiet.
No kids come here.

The World in Vegas

TREAT
It's not just for gambling.
Vegas has turned into a new world full of beauty fantasy and romance.
America sure has an eye for beauty.
I hear the food is excellent too.
Lots of business goes on here.

In fact it might be cheaper living in Vegas than in you own home
The Fitzgerald offers rooms for $25 a night.
Others range from 27.00 39.00 59.00 299.00 depending on the busy season.

Some complain about the hotel food selection and the changing of sheets in the cheap rooms but for 27.00 a night , can you really expect more?

That's like 810.00 a month for 2.
Compare that to retirement home costs or paying taxes and utility bills alone today.

Meals begin at $4.99 and old people usually share 5.00 dollar meals but even if they don't 10.00 per day for two = 300 for a month

I think the future for old people could very well become a hotel stay judging by the way things are going but surrounded by other hotels, it could very well be a real treat too if they give you a years' lease. lol
And then once you get tired you can move on to another place with a different view.

RV'ing could be a good life too if you have your health.
In Vegas you can visit countries you never thought you'd be able to visit and its just a short hop skip and jump away. The weather is dry, good for the bones.

TRICK?

Don't gamble.

Travelling with soccer kids I see many old couples doing just this sort of thing and hotels also take in patients after an operation, to recover in their hotel. Its cheaper than a hospital stay.

I wonder what they have for kids for Halloween?

Perfect cup of Halloween Tea

Collectionsetc.com had the perfect cups for my Halloween tea.

Now as I learned, tea should never be stirred or the wrong tannins will come out
Also black tea needs really boiling water as opposed to green tea and usually teas need to steep 6 minutes before drinking.

You can make the witch with the smelly breath a concoction of parsley and water.
For the stupid witch mix ground sage, owl feather and water
For the sickly green looking witch make her a brew of ground spider, basil fennel and water
The witch with a very bad cold oozing green shnotz use ground garlic and honey
These are just some examples but then if you want something for kids
the video below may have an idea.

Have fun and enjoy your day!

Game of Cards

The song was originally done by Tex Ritter in 1948. The most popular version was recorded by Wink Martindale.

Story
"The Cards" is set during World War II, where a group of Army soldiers, on a long hike during a campaign in southern Italy, had arrived and camped near a town named Cassino. While Scripture is being read, one boy who has only a deck of playing cards, pulls them out and spreads them in front of him. He is immediately spotted by a sergeant, who orders the soldier to put them away (thinking he's playing cards in church). The soldier is then arrested and taken before the Provost Marshal to be punished.

The Provost Marshal demands an explanation, to which the soldier explains the significance of each card

Ace: The one true God
Deuce: The Old Testament and New Testament in the Bible
Trey/Three: The Holy Trinity; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost
Four: St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, and St. John, evangelists and authors of the four Gospels
Five: The two groups of five virgins who trimmed their lamps for a wedding. Five were wise (by saving enough oil) and were admitted, while the other five were foolish (did not have enough oil) and were shut out.
Six: God creates the Earth in six days.
Seven: God rests on the seventh day, now known as the Sabbath.
Eight: The eight righteous people whom God saved during the Great Flood: Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their wives.
Nine: Of the ten lepers whom Jesus cleansed, nine of them didn't even thank him.
Ten: The Ten Commandments God handed down to Moses.
King: Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, or alternatively, God the Father.
Queen: Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Queen of Heaven.
Jack or Knaves: Satan or the Devil
365 Spots: Days in a year

**NOTE - basic deck actually contains 364, + 1 for a Joker, (even though most decks of cards will contain 2 jokers)
52 Cards: Number of weeks in a year
Thirteen Tricks: Number of weeks in a quarter
Four Suits: Approximate number of weeks in a month (can also mean the four seasons but this is not included in the song)
Twelve Face Cards: Number of months in a year

Steveston Muscle.

Steveston has lots of boutiques as well as great sea food restaurants.
I was going to buy this shirt for my husband so he could show off his abs.lol
It would at least get a second look from gals and build up his ego a bit.

I know, however, when they see a gal like me walking beside him, they'll think twice before messing with me. lol

That skinny old guy is MINE Ladies.lol

SORRY! :)

+==============
Well the Vancouver Canucks got a thrashing yesterday by the Boston Bruins.
Everything began very well until Bostons' Horton almost got his neck broken by a shoulder hit from Canuck defenseman Rome.
Seems this affected the managers and then the team as things began to go sour for us.
So many fights ensued between the two team members that by the time it was all over we hardly had anyone left to play in the rink lol
Our Stadium was sold out in spite of the fact that the game was in Boston and even in Boston,
there we 14,000 Canuck fans cheering for us.

However this all ends up, our hockey team sure united our Province and country and did a lot for the economy.
They have a day to lick their wounds and to create a new strategy for Wednesdays' Game.
Let's see what happens.
GO CANUCKS GO!!!!

A Cover for a Lover

This is a cover I am making and embroidering . I put the squares together in panels but will do some other things to it before putting it completely together.
I already have the sides to attach to it compliments of my knitting machine. :)

Pretty soon it will be ready to use for Christmas to bring color to a room and picture taking.
I have to find some outlines to make hearts and birds, like an owl, to fill in the empty squares.
Then I have to think what to put for the backing. Maybe I can quilt it as well.
So far it looks great and I am quite happy with it.

It's not Christmas but you have to see this crazy dog . He is having the time of his life playing. This is a great way to wash animals.

I remember in Quebec we would have snow like in the video.
My Mom would take out her Persian carpet from the living room and we would put snow on it
and broom it on both sides.
It would take all the dust out of it and clean it so when we would bring it back inside it smelled so fresh for another year. I don't remember my Mom ever using chemicals on it to wash it.
Just plain fresh white snow.

Three women go down to Mexico one night to celebrate college graduation,

get drunk, and wake up in jail, only to find that they are to be executed in

the morning, though none of them can remember what they did the night

before.

The first one, a redhead, is strapped in the electric chair and is asked

if she has any last words. She says, "I just graduated from Trinity Bible

College and believe in the almighty power of God to intervene on the behalf

of the innocent."

They throw the switch and nothing happens. They all immediately fall to

the floor on their knees, beg for forgiveness, and release her.

The second one, a brunette, is strapped in and gives her last words. "I

just graduated from the Harvard School of Law and I believe in the power of

justice to intervene on the part of the innocent."

They throw the switch and again, nothing happens. Again they all

immediately fall to their knees, beg for forgiveness and release her.

The last one (you knew it), a blonde, is strapped in and says, "Well, I'm

from A & M University and just graduated with a degree in

Electrical Engineering, and I'll tell ya right now, ya'll ain't gonna

electrocute nobody if you don't plug this thing in.

Reaching Out For Love

This is very enlightening and nice to watch
Enjoy

I remember lots of things about Christmas except what I got under the tree. I know I saw boxes but I don't remember what was in any of them.

When I got older I would save my allowance. Then I would go to the store and find a beautiful sweater or expensive shoes I thought would be a treat for my parents and I'd buy them. So while I got presents which so it seems, didn't mean much to me, cause I can't remember what they were, my parents were very happy with what they got.

We also did not put names from whom the presents were cause they were all from Santa.

Well, one day my Dad remarked that one present was from his daughter. And my Mom answered how do you know? And he answered, cause you would never spend so much.

My Mom blushed and my Dad laughed but I felt so good that they loved their presents.
From that day forward every time I gave a present, even though it had no name on it from who it was, my parents knew which ones were from me.lol

My parents were very frugal. They never spent just to buy. They spent on what was needed anyway, so it was all about socks and underwear and PJ's and slippers. I never had many toys and those I did have disappeared and I would see my cousins with them and wonder where mine went?

They never even asked if it was ok to give away my stuff and today when I think about it, it sometimes infuriates me. In those days however, I never missed them or new they were missing. I always had a very clean room.

I had a hand turning sewing machine made out of metal someone gave me and I know I treasured it. One day I saw my neighbors 4 year old daughter playing in the dirt with it outside.
I asked my Mom where my sewing machine was and she said you don't need it.
I gave it to the neighbor.
I was hurt but said nothing.

Then one day I walked into an antique store and there was my sewing machine but today it cost 250 dollars to buy back.

Well I didn't buy it back because I had a real one by now which I found and bought because I made an excuse that if I had to sew one day without electricity, I'd have one to sew with, and it looked the same. I could have just as easily used the little toy one, since it was just like the real one, but for kids.

See how, what parents do, affect children?
One never knows why one does things in life,
until life looks back at you.
:)
