THe French Baguette

Fall is a great time to begin making home made bread.

As a student my husband used to come home and put a batch of dough to rise while he studied and then bake a few loaves
before going to bed at night. He always loved the smell of dough in the house.

(Or maybe he was hungry .lol
He’ll never tell.)

Baking bread in cold weather gives the house this cozy feeling and I also love the smell and especially French baguettes.

Well, one thing I learned about yeast dough may be of interest to some people.

After making a batch of dough and letting it rise, you have to punch it down to let out the gas, and knead again to make your loaves to leave to rise again.

Well when you punch it down to begin to knead, you can take out a small portion of dough and remix it with new flour to let rise again.
It becomes sour dough.
You can continue doing this over and over with the same yeast as the yeast will continue to work multiplying itself.

Then every day you can have your children come home to freshly baked buns and a nice smelling home.
There was trouble at the bakery last night!
Yes, I heard - two stale buns tried to get fresh.
A good baker will rise to the occasion. It’s the yeast he can do.
Old bakers never die, they just keep making lots of dough.

The gingerbread man thought he couldn't be caught, until he met his baker.

The father who worked as a baker was a real breadwinner.

A baker always put too much flour in his bread because he was a gluten for punishment.

I Like the jokes. Our problem is which baker to buy our baguettes from.

Thanks Anji and Jeannette -
I got a new mixer and so it is so easy to make the dough I have to try.
We also make these pyroshky
They are made with rising dough and then stuffed with meat/rice/onion/garlic/carrot/mushrooms stuffing and then
you let them rise and put them into boiling oil.
They come out so fluffy and the family loves them.

It's very appropriate that I just read this post -- we've got some bread baking right now. I'll have a slice of fresh beg in an hour or so.

I never baked a bread, but more and more of my friends have bread baking machines now. They throw all the ingredients in there in the evening and the bread is ready in the morning or something like that.

Why don't you join my meme on mondays ? It's just terrible what happened to the girl in your neighborhood !

Thanks guys:)

Gattina: I looked at bread machines but they do not make enough dough and machines break. The old fashioned ways are the best. When you make more than two loaves its worth the effort.
In my family bread is vital.
So if I make it with things like anise olives etc.. even better.

Thank you about the comment about the batting incident.
The community is enraged.and I am also upset because our job as parents is to watch all our children. What this child suffered is unforgiveable. 15 is still just a baby. The Supreme court is now asking people for any info about anything that could lead us to find the killer. Wehave had two other attempts around my house
previous to this one.
The killer attacks girls and hits from behind with a blunt object
