Live A Life

Did you know that sodium is not salt and although sodium is not good for you, salt is?
In fact life would be pretty bland without salt and all the minerals it contains.
So keeping our oceans healthy and non toxic is quite important.
So all corporations out there, beware. Money, will not buy you life.

Likewise, cancer cells do not like an alkaline environment.
They do not need oxygen ,as opposed to normal cells which , we need to combat them, do.
That being said I now come to one of my favorite meals.

I love chick peas. We eat them in humous, in soups and in salads.
No garden should be without beans and they are best eaten fresh.
Beans in general are very good for you but chick peas crunch under your teeth so they are my personal favorite.
Here I made myself a salad of chick peas, celery,a pickle, chopped leek, broccoli, garlic and spinach.
I added black pepper , sea salt, olive oil , oregano and dug in.

It was so enjoyable that if I could eat the whole bowl myself I would but I have a couple of men who will be famished in a few minutes.
If I had some blanched sole fillets to crumple into it, so much the better.
My son likes cheese added to it but he has two hands and can add it himself....right? lol

What I like about salad in my home is that with everyones' schedule being so obtuse, cooking has become a very irritating dilemma in my house so with a salad, they can open the fridge and there it is.
Nice for me, nice for them.
Now I have a few chicken legs to boil to make a bouillon . It would have been better to get an old chicken for that but they are hard to come by since everything is eaten and sold by a certain age.
Chicken doesn't have the same flavor as it did in my Mom's time because it is fed on artificial food so it grows faster. Not good.
This is why back yard chickens and eggs are a treat today because you are in charge of how long they live and what they eat.

I think many people are coming to realize the importance of home grown food because even restaurants are growing their own gardens in up raised containers and before long they will also begin growing their own fowl to get their recipes and reputations specialized , perfected and prized by gourmants who know a good thing when they taste it.

Today people prize flourless bread.
You can either buy or make your own chick pea flour by grinding it yourself.
Its full of carbs and protein.
Sometimes I go out of my way and take out many varieties of dry beans and grind it up in my coffee grinder.
(Great for pizza dough)
One recipe I like is uses Zuccini to make pancakes.
I use chana (chick pea) flour with sea salt and black pepper.
Its served with salsa or curry or with plain tomatoes or eaten by itself.
Sometimes I add chopped fried onions to it.
It's different. lol

Well I hope you have another great day and that the weather changes for the better.
Here it's dull and wet again as usual.
I checked my gutters and the metal pieces I put in to keep the leaves out of the drain pipes are all eaten through and basically gone. hmmm. Acid Rain?

That salad looks delicious. It's a good thing I'm not around your house or I would be tempted to plead for a few bites myself.
I agree that nothing tastes as good as home-grown or home-raised food.

I love chick peas too, in Belgium they are imported from Morocco, but in Italy they grow. Humous is delicious !
