Who Is This Saint?

My husband went to get gas and what should he find lying beside the gas pump?
This Icon which was turned into a clip on.
I spent the whole day trying to find out who this Saint is to have some meaning
as to why it came to my husband.

It has cyrillic lettering on it on the top right hand corner.

The rest is difficult to see.
The monk on it means it must have been painted a long time ago before the 17th C
The way he holds his hands is before the time of Nikon when he changed
crossing oneself from two fingers, keeping the thumb with the ring and baby finger,
into a triad of three fingers together.

hands are often shown giving a blessing: the last two fingers touching thumb (two fingers raised) symbolizes the two natures of Christ; ring finger touching thumb (three fingers raised) symbolizes the Trinity.

Hands are also shown with with the forefinger extended straight; the middle finger curved slightly; the thumb and the ring finger crossed; and the little finger curved slightly. This gesture forms the letters "IC XC" (Greek letters for "Jesus Christ") -- the first finger making the I, the curved middle finger forming the C, the crossed ring finger and thumb forming the X, and the pinky finger forming the second C.

There is one Icon with
Peter and Paul
holding a church which means they want church unity.

Evangelists wear tunics, carry a book
Bishops wear vestments, carry a book or scroll
Monks wear habits, stand very erect

Tracing Icons back to their origin is indeed a fascinating journey.
I learned that all men need to wear beards cause Jesus did lol
Also that because man was created in God's image, we carry him within and people see him through who we are as people
So people can see God in the eyes of good people who live life doing good things.

This particular Icon seems familiar to me but I have no idea where I saw it.

Would be nice if someone knew this Saint/monk just for the heck of it.

Have a great day!

I wish I could help you identify the figure on this icon, but I can't. I hope you do solve the mystery, and I thank you for an interesting post.

Thanks George
I think the symbolism says it all.
The church is for unity and monks of course are devoted to God's service.I would have liked to know the name of this monk/saint though since they made an icon out of him.
