OOPS One More Fat Lady Postcard

This is another fat woman postcard I found at home and kept cause it was funny.
I think it's the last one.

We talk about the fun in traveling,then we wonder why we are getting fat because when we travel we eat and drink more.

This woman is sitting talking about travel broadening one, to a skinny person who might be just as knowledgeable but watches her food intake.

I have to admit unless it's a business trip, vacation tends to let you loosen your belt quite a bit and then you pay for it when you get back home.lol

But then it also depends on what type of job you have.

I remember watching the Galloping Gourmet who was such a funny Chef.
Everything he made he put wine in it.
He always had a red nose and gained so much weight he had to stop the show so he could look after himself, lose weight and stop drinking.
When he did his show without the booze, it wasn't as funny anymore.
I Love Lucy
also did shows pretending she was drunk and she was a real class act because she did not drink.

So did Red Skelton.

As opposed to before, when every movie had some one smoking a cigarette, today we have shows, especially with women, who are seen to always be drinking.
There has to be a lot of booze they say, for people to have fun.

Just yesterday I happened to switch on Chelsea Lately and she told every one, that the only time people could have fun is when they are boozed up.

I found it ironic cause, I might be wrong, but no one seemed drunk, on her comedy show.
Or were they?
No one is drunk on the Just for Laughs Show or Comedy Central.
Seinfeld is funny and we laugh and enjoy his act without booze.
In fact we watch and enjoy these shows over and over without an ounce of alcohol.

Craig Fergusen is a recovered alcoholic and he seems to have a great time entertaining without booze and lives to remember the next day, what he did, as opposed to life being a blur.

What is the point, if life goes by and you don't see or remember it?
The same goes for marijuana.
People take it to make life go away and then they find everything funny and say :"Wow, this is cool.
Let's have some more." not realizing that if you need a crutch to be happy, something you are doing is not right.

When I was in Malaysia, I got the same kind of feeling standing in the middle of a quiet forest, where there was absolute silence.
It was literally mind blowing and this is where I learned that people need this, more than the other.

I don't know. No matter what you do, you have to know your limits.
Travel sure does broaden ones' knowledge......
if you can remember it. lol

The World in Vegas

TREAT
It's not just for gambling.
Vegas has turned into a new world full of beauty fantasy and romance.
America sure has an eye for beauty.
I hear the food is excellent too.
Lots of business goes on here.

In fact it might be cheaper living in Vegas than in you own home
The Fitzgerald offers rooms for $25 a night.
Others range from 27.00 39.00 59.00 299.00 depending on the busy season.

Some complain about the hotel food selection and the changing of sheets in the cheap rooms but for 27.00 a night , can you really expect more?

That's like 810.00 a month for 2.
Compare that to retirement home costs or paying taxes and utility bills alone today.

Meals begin at $4.99 and old people usually share 5.00 dollar meals but even if they don't 10.00 per day for two = 300 for a month

I think the future for old people could very well become a hotel stay judging by the way things are going but surrounded by other hotels, it could very well be a real treat too if they give you a years' lease. lol
And then once you get tired you can move on to another place with a different view.

RV'ing could be a good life too if you have your health.
In Vegas you can visit countries you never thought you'd be able to visit and its just a short hop skip and jump away. The weather is dry, good for the bones.


TRICK?

Don't gamble.

Travelling with soccer kids I see many old couples doing just this sort of thing and hotels also take in patients after an operation, to recover in their hotel. Its cheaper than a hospital stay.

I wonder what they have for kids for Halloween?

Returning to the Valley.

This song is an oldie I raised my children with.
We used to travel a lot and like all families, to keep the mood lively in the car, we would sing all kind of songs. The kids really enjoyed pitching in, so I was one lucky Mama.
One of my favorite was Perry Comos' Hot Diggity Dogitty Boom What you do to me.
It was great because you could act it out and the kids got a kick out of it.

As the miles stretched out, time flew and before we knew it, we were at the next rest stop.
Singing , we would leave one valley after another, see dawn in one and dusk in another. We would leave our smiles behind with the spring and promise to return on our way back.

The valleys changed with the months and driving back through them, was like driving through new places, we had never seen before, in the fall.
I can understand why truckers love their job behind the wheel, because on the road, you leave everything behind and ahead, lies nothing but adventure and the impossible.
You never say goodbye or adieu because the patient Red River Valley will always be waiting your return.

A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning.
The wife (undoubtedly blonde), picked up the phone,
Listened a moment and said 'How should I know,
that's 200 miles from here!' and hung up.
The husband said, 'Who was that?'

his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the
porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and
his dog, then sat down on the steps.

Putting her face in her hands, she moaned,
'I come home to find all my possessions stolen.
I call the police for help, and what do they do?

They send me a BLIND policeman.'

A Saudi Prince goes to Germany to study.

A month later, he sends a letter to his dad saying: "Berlin is wonderful,

people are nice and I really like it here,

but I'm a bit ashamed to arrive to school with my gold Mercedes when all

teachers travel by train."

Sometime later he gets a letter from his dad with a ten million dollar

Rumplestiltskin

JDS has inspired me to write this Blog today.
He is my only faithful anonymous blogger I can't visit.
Wat's up wid dat? lol

As I read his usual positive comment, Rumplestiltskin popped into my head.lol
Rumpelstiltskin is a story from Grimms Fairy Tales which was written around the
1800's.
In England they had a similar tale but with Tom Tit Tot.
Now why would this little mischievous goblin or imp or spirit, who could spin straw into gold,force a girl to give up her first born child?
Why would he help her to become a Queen?
Why would he refuse money?
It sounds somewhat like a Celine Dion story.
She wanted to sing and her now husband RRRenee, asked her, do you want to sing or to become a great Diva singer?
So she let him manage her and see where she is today. On top of the world.

I guess this story teaches many things.

1)It's important to fight for what is important to you.
2)Don't gamble because it could cost you plenty.
3)Don't make promises you can't keep.
4)How the sins of the Father affects the family and how a family's support can get you out of hot water.
5) The devil can be beat at his own game, which inspires hope :)
6)You need to be able to pull your weight in a family.
7) Watch your children and belongings so they don't get snatched from you.
8)Abuse of women's rights.
9)How the powerful control the less fortunate.
10) Don't brag
11) Beware of strangers bearing gifts

Wow! Never thought of it this way when I was reading it as a kid.

I just saw another world opening through this curious little man, who left me with so many questions, it would take years to find answers to.

The sun is shining, my son is in San Jose for soccer so he will not be here for Mother's Day and Santa Barbara is on Fire.
Every day we get a taste of the good the bad and the ugly.
