HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY BUNNY!!
We celebrated my husband's birthday last night, wishing him all the best for many many more years to come!!
My son is 18 years old now and he used to get all the cherries off the cake, so we offered him our cherries and he thanked us and ate them. lol
This is what makes family great. We all share the same memories.Even the tiny ones. lol And years don't matter. :)
---------------------------------

This is one of my favorite stores.
It seems to be liquidating everything so I am sure it will close down soon like the huge craft store next door did. That also was a great place to shop for crafters because it had everything from flowers to paints to little baubles and wooden structures trees, etc...
Many stores are trying to hold out but with the economy today and high rents, not many people are buying these days. The HST was a complete surprise. I don't know how it can help business owners when they can't sell their goods.
Sure puts a damper on holidays. Even with groceries which they said will not be taxed, we calculated the tax we paid and it came up to 6 dollars more than usual. So I do not understand how they figure food is not taxed. Maybe not in stores but before it gets there, prices go up, so therefore the product goes up.

We used to love making stuff so the house and tree was different every year.Lately we just enjoyed a tree with white lights and a motor which turned it in the window.
But I remember when I was a kid waking up to Santa's call and then seeing this beautiful tree in its splendor covered in jewels and all kind of elves and Santas and angels and horses hanging from it,as well as a manger and wise men telling the story of Christmas. All the excitement sure rosied up my cheeks. Kids don't have that today.
The Shirley Temple kind of stories, when things other than toys, were important.
If you ask me today, I remember the trees but not any of the things I got as presents.
Funny.

This year I wanted my tree to be plastered with red birds. So I went to this mall to see if they had the feathers I needed to make my birds. Now I have to buy a down pillow and color the feathers if I want the same project to continue,But then I will not know if the feathers will come out but then again I will have a lot more feathers lol
Life sure has its' pros and cons.

Our countries need to support local crafters and thus bring jobs and quality workmanship back. People used to have such pride in the work they did and today with antique collectors, they are still recognized and appraised highly. It is not a good sign to have places like this closing down.
Pretty soon, the high rents, will close down many shops and people will run their stores from home, flea markets and garage sales.

As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be such a bad idea now would it?
They showed BC on TV covered in a blizzard of snow and here we have nothing.
Just the same ice from yesterday. I think Vancouver Island gets hit harder.

Women Friends chatting in office.

Woman 1: I had a fine evening, how was yours?
Woman 2: it was a disaster. My husband came home, ate his dinner in three minutes and fell asleep in two minutes. How was yours?
Woman 1: Oh it was amazing! My husband came home and took me out to a romantic dinner. After dinner we walked for an hour. When we came home he lit the candles around the house and afterwards talked for an hour. It was like a fairytale!

At the same time, their husbands are talking at work.

Husband 1: How was your evening?
Husband 2: Great. I came home, dinner was on the table, I ate and fell asleep. It was great! What about you?
Husband 1: It was horrible. I came home, there's no dinner because they cut the electricity because I hadn't paid the bill; so I had to take my wife out to dinner which was so expensive that I didn't have money left for a cab. We had to walk home which took an hour; and when we got home remember there was no electricity so I had to light candles all over the house! After all, I was so aggravated that I couldn't fall asleep and my wife was jabbering away for another hour!

Have a great day everyone :)
