Making Sense of Life

A new dawn and stove fired up with fresh coffee brewin,
cut the dampness in the air.
I went outside to collect the eggs for breakfast.
The dew covered grasses and morning freshness were
welcome under my cold, bare feet.
I sneezed and knew this was not smart to walk outside half dressed.
Over head it looked like a helicopter James was
flying, crossing the sky.

The whole thing began to feel disturbing.
Did I scare him off?
 Burt noticed it too.

Guess this fella really likes you

If he liked me he would stop, wouldn't he?

Maybe he is just checking to make sure you're ok.

Maybe .
I filled his head full of religion and he probably
got scared off. I laughed.

Religion! What's a girl like you talking about religion for?

Well he asked me why I lived up here and it got on the subject .
Living up here, one feels closer to God than in the city and
he said he felt it too up in Alaska.
Besides, what's wrong with religion?
Look at the world. People need it more than ever these days.

I'll tell you something girly.
God? Yes! Religion? No.
I don't much like  preachers .
Every time they open their
 mouths they kill it.

Ya, I know. I asked a few of my school friends why they were entering the
priesthood and they said cause it's a job.
I always thought it was a calling.
Another woman called it a cult.
You can't make people believe in something that important,
if it's just a job or if people think it's a cult.
They have no understanding at all as to why it's important.

I looked back towards Bear Mountain.

You know Burt? I think I need to go have a look up there and see what
all this sudden interest in Bear is all about?

Well I'll go with ya. You can't get into trouble by yourself.
He winked and went into the cabin.
After breakfast I rustled out my survival kit and loaded Sheba while Burt took care of
his Jesse.
Sorry old boy. I patted Beau. You stay here and keep warm.
We won't be long.

Slowly we got on our way hoping there was really nothing to find.
It was about a 3 hour walk and we made good time.
By noon we were at the foot hill of Bear.

Burt was puffing away.
Listen. You sit down and catch your breath.
I'll just walk a bit and explore.

Ok. You don't need to tell me twice  .

Slowly I made my way up looking for evidence of anything out of place.
In a small clearing there was a dead campfire pit, cans, plastic .
They sure left the place a mess I thought.
Behind a fallen tree trunk I saw something behind some branches and as I came closer
I saw the shirt James was wearing.
My God!
It was him!
I came round the trunk to see if he was dead?
James! James! I whispered kneeling down.
His face was beaten black and blue but he seemed to still be alive.

I'll be back You hold on James ok? Hold on.
I ran down to Burt and told him to hurry.
I covered James with a blanket and tried to wipe off the dirt and blood
on his face with a wet cloth. He sipped some water.
My God! What are you doing up here? I asked.
He was too weak to answer.

We cut down a few thin trees and made a stretcher to pull him on.
I'm taking you home ok?
Do you have anything broken?
James shook he head to say no.
Ok Ok Good. Careful now.
Between Burt and I, we managed to get him onto the stretcher
we softened up by filling it with soft branches.
We began the trek back home.
It wasn't a good sign that James was sleeping.
I tried to keep some cold water rags around his head.

When we finally got back I rushed to the cabin to the secret room
and called Bob.
We needed help. A man was found beat up.
Lots of head injuries.

Then I ran outside again to help Burt bring James into the house.
As he lay there we took off his shoes and kept him
warm till help arrived in a manner of a big 4x4.
They stretchered him inside and left for St Mary's Hospital.

You got some keen senses Ell. Burt finally exclaimed.

It didn't make sense Burt.
Common. Lets go sit down and have something to eat.
You sure was a God send yourself.
I don't know how I would have
managed with just two hands.

The next day after chores we started up the Harley .
Burt  sat in the side car and we were off to see how
our friend was.
We arrived to find James still in intensive care.
His family was all there and we introduced ourselves
The air was solemn as doctors and nurses quietly did their jobs.

We want to thank you for finding him and bringing him in.
his Mom managed to say through a tear stained face.

Oh that was nothing.  He would do it for me.
We saw his helicopter leave Bear Mountain and found it kinda strange
cause the area was not known as earth quake country nor was it volcanic

Why would that matter where James was concerned ?
James was a pilot . He worked for the government .
We never knew what he did but it had nothing to do with
volcanoes.

Well then I don't know.
Is there any news as to who took the helicopter then?

There was a sudden commotion in James' room and then
it was concluded that James had passed away.

A flash of his face when he boarded his helicopter,
made my heart twinge. I felt him standing beside me.
What was he trying to convey?
I felt a touch ever so soft on my hand.
Suddenly the man I thought I knew, I didn't know at all.
He was good hearted, kind, thoughtful, no thief,  and now
he was dead. Go figure.

As the family started to grieve I stood there tearing apart inside
wishing to split in half and to be set free.

We drove back to the cabin in silence, got the chores done
and then sat down at the table.
Burt was watching me, respecting my silence, trying to
help as much as he could. without being invasive.
There was nothing to say.
People die.
But to die like this..... for nothing?

 You ok? he finally asked.

Burt, is reality real or do we just imagine it?
Cause if we just imagine it, death would not be so final and bearable.
 nor barbaric.

Do we call a spade a spade or a plate a plate?
It's as real as we will ever know it to be.
Death... well here it gets a bit complicated cause we are dealing with the spiritual
and the physical.
When you're sittin in the woods at night, sometimes you think you can hear the trees talkin.
Man can't see or hear well enough to know for sure.
His senses are not that well developed but the animals do.Oh ya. The animals hear and see everything.
I guess mankind still has a lot to perfect in him.

You think in the next life God has a plan to put our souls into better bodies?
If souls, through negative and positive energy, could collect molecules and form
bodies to live in,would people be real? Alive?

That's a good question Ell.
The spirit or soul is the life we know, so I guess ya.
I think the reason souls leave is because the life force becomes weak .

So if I told you that at the hospital, I felt his presence and his touch...
you wouldn't think I was crazy?

Crazy?  No more than me.You'd roll over in your grave if I told you all the stuff I
seed in my life.
Oh no Ell. You need not worry your pertty head about that.

When the World Stands Still.

James left and the world stood still again.
I got out the canvas and began sketching things to paint outside,
in the world I loved. I remembered the nurses working in geriatrics
and how much a painting of snow and mountains appealed to them.
Rooms full of such paintings certainly inspired people to get well.

With technology going rampant however, people don't sit and
waste time with philosophy or dreams about life.
Times have changed.  People have changed
and those who havent well,.. they struggle along as best they can.
Much is lost in the process.
Much is gained but those who gain, sit in a violent world with
so much pain and suffering around them.
As much as we want to  see it all go away, the problem just keeps
getting larger and people still keep dying.
We wonder why and we don't understand.
Nothing stands on a rotten foundation, so it must be all torn down and
people have to begin again and again  and again till they get it right.
After a while,
I decided to make some chiacchieres  since I had lots of staples.
All they needed was 1 lb flour 1 1/2 oz confectioners sugar, 2 eggs,
1 1/2 oz butter 1/2 cup milk 1 pinch salt 1/8 oz baking soda, vanilla
and frying oil
You mix all the ingredients into a dough, let sit 15 min then cut out in diamonds or make little bows by putting a slit in the middle and pulling through one end. Then you fry and sift some confectioners sugar over each piece.
I just finished when I saw ol Burt pulling his mule Jesse.
Eh there! How r you? What a surprise?
Need any help?

I'm fine. I'm fine. he growled coughing to clear his throat.
Saw your smoke and thought you'd be home.
You'd be right there but sometimes I see my smoke and know
I'm not home. I laughed.
Well gatta xpect that girly being so far inside these woods
but company's nice once in a while.
Sure is Burt. Good company though.
Come sit here a while. You're just in time.
I made some cookies.
I got Burt some stew and bread.
He began eating and thanked God it wasn't squirrel or some other local critter.
See you got some pelts.
Ya ...ya. Gotta eat something so the pelts get left behind.
Makes for good sewin for winter.
You gonna spend the winter up in the hills again?

Nah. Never do.
Saw a helicopter flying around back yonder though
Back yonder where?
Oh by the foot of Bear.
Bear?  That's funny. Was it a small one?

Not too big.

Hmmmm I wonder why they are up there?
Well sumptins goin on up there that's for sure.
Well my friend James flies one but he didn't say he had to go up there.
Of course we didn't talk much about why he comes here anyway.
I thought naturally it must be to see me but I could be mistaken.
What's he doin this James?
Mostly work having to do with earthquakes and volcanoes.
You think one is coming to this area?

Been in these mountains a while now.
Did notice the animals were gettin skimpier.
But I figured it was cause of the big cougar that
roams out that way.
Oh is he still around?
He almost jumped me and Beau once but this old wolf
chased him away.
Burt wiped his chops.and whiskers and gulped down
a glass of cold water.
You mind if we hunker down here for the night?
No. Not at all. Put Jesse into the coral and let her rest.

I'll just do that Missy and then come back for some coffee if
you have any and some of those cookies you bragged about
I didn't brag . I was just happy to have someone share them with me.
I'll pour you a big cup of Joe..
Ol Burt was in his 70's but strong as an ox pulling that mule of his.
I guess not every one is meant for the city.
People still like to go and get lost in the woods.
Beats an old folks home anytime.
You sure have a great hat there Burt.
Burt laughed
Yup. It's pretty full all right. He pulled it off to show me.
Got me lots of thread here in the inside and full of needles and hooks on the outside. Been used a lot too.
Is the fishin good?

Ya know, it is.
I can't say that I've been hungry.
Always had something on the line.
It's some God Awful beautiful country up there Ell.
If it didn't get so cold in winter, I'd stay there.
He pulled out his pipe and tobacco and settled in.

The weather was holding up.
Hey, you know there is a place to clean up in the bathroom Burt.
After you do that you can use the fold out couch for the night.

That's very kind of you Ell
Bones would sure appreciate it.
Anytime ol friend.
I found the days to be too short as I lay down to sleep that night.
It felt good to put my head on a soft pillow.
I kept thinking about James and why he was still by Bear Mountain.
or was he?

Only Love.

.....After a few moments we came back to  our senses.

James filled a plate with fish and tomatoes with onions
topped with olive oil and lemon.

The Jews are still waiting for their Messiah aren't they?

Yes, of course but they are united where it comes to Sarah and Isaac
and where it went from there.

Ishmael was not really rejected by the Jews either. They did not cut strings
altogether and so this melodrama with Israel is ridiculous.
How does a Father totally reject a child?
We are all the same people just choosing different means to believe
in the same thing.
I guess the question will always be what is more powerful?
Muhammad, a prophet, ruling through fear  control and power?
Jesus, as son of God, ruling as a triad, through love?
Jews waiting for God to come to them as a chosen people?
Or the mob who believes in nothing?

That does cause a heck of a problem doesn't it?
This is basically the problem with this world.

Is it?
Isn't it like everything else in life?
It's like God gave us things to think about to keep our minds busy but
it's all irrelevant.

In paradise Adam and Eve had the snake teaching them.
They lost a great deal because of it. On earth we have advertising.
People believe in the advertisment and once they get enough people
they turn the tables on them and collect.
Still...

They may have lost things but they also gained freedom and the right to choose,
and choosing what to choose is where it's at today.

People try to show independence but all they do is join another power group.
You can't live in a society unless you are a part of some power group.
I guess God wants us to really choose which way we want to go.
He wants us to know ourselves.
Not that it matters or maybe it does to him.

Do we want Purgatory? Hell or Heaven?
People who believe in nothing will just end up with nothing.
No souls to talk about.
But the souls we are fighting about have to deal with a triad.
Heaven is Jesus, in the middle of the two.

So how do you think it will all end?

Well I dont know.
As a people and as a world, we would have to unite through either love or hate.
or live in purgatory fighting and debating.
Might be in the end God will say ok.
Enough.
Who believes in the prophet Muhammad, step to this side.
Remember, Muhammad is just a man. Just like the snake, is just a snake.
Nothing Godly there.
Then Jesus is the son of God ruling through love.
He travels between the worlds we know.
Who wants to go there, steps there.

The Jews might have to make up their minds which side of Abrahams' family
they want to live with.
Do they believe in the Messiah of fear and control or do they believe in a Messiah
of love.
I guess we have to know ourselves to know what true love is.
Then there is the mob, the saddest group of all.
They basically fly with the wind.

Signifying that we are a creation of progress, intelligence and understanding,
create ripples that do change the future to be what it could or will be.
Judgement can be set upon us not for our petty sins, which we are not capable of knowing, understanding or controlling, since we do not learn, but on who we truly are as a species.

There in we see ourselves as a people, who are not the same and not equal
as the US Constitution says.
We are different and our brain intellect is different, consisting of 4 groups.

So then I don't know where he will send us or what will become of us.
We truly will be at Loves' mercy.

Gosh. You do think deep don't you?
Why not live simply and let the chips fall where they may?

Well, I can't see myself living any simpler than this. I laughed.
I am not looking for a Messiah. I think Jesus taught the right things to/for people,
and I think people all want the same things. They want love and to be free to choose.
They don't want fear or to hate or be controlled.

But those who don't learn will continue to fight for those things.
Things like Power, greed, selfishness drugs sex...
The more things debase a person, the more they like it.
It's like good ness is a disease to them and yet they all have it in them.

So what will you do if you are attacked? Give up?

No. I will fight and probably kill to survive or die, but I won't hate.
You can't hate people who don't understand what they are doing.
How can one be guilty if one doesn't know ones' sins?
Like in Ovid's Metamorphoses play Dionysus was a wine god
who made mortals see things that really were not there .
He made one of his unbelievers be torn apart by his own mother.
Limited minds, make wrong decisions.
See ... the chips are in the air. We are not alone. lol

Life is not about sticks and stones, laws and taxes.
Life is about love.Man creates the rest
Living alone, one sees things better than living in a group
where one is told what to think, believe and agree to.

But if God is one, so is truth but to beget truth, is another matter.
People are not trained to do this.
It takes a lifetime of study and still.....

So you are saying people don't know how to think?

People know how to think. They just don't know how to see through
all the ruble, the paradigms we have to live in.
They don't know how to apply the thinking process.
They are limited in things they can do.Drugs don't help either.
They clog the mind like booze or worse.

Man is limited but the limits he has are man limits, not Gods'.
The words we speak. The laws we make.
The people who preach  and govern  us every day.
These limits bind us and we will never be free of them unless
we are given this  freedom to be limitless and eternal and conscious..
No one can promise us this, except God

So we have to come to a conclusion, as to what God wants of us
as a human race.
Do we want to be with him or take our chances by ourselves and end up
fighting and killing and doing all this for nothing but a puff of smoke.

We worry about our souls but if the soul is destroyed,
 then there is nothing.

So now we think what if there is no God? What if there is no soul?
Then we owe no one anything. We live and we die . So what's the harm?
I guess some of the worst criminals we have, feel this way.

We exist like the rocks and soil and have nothing to believe or think about.
Our world becomes a virtual world where we can do what we want,
feel no pain or suffering and just pretend.

Then we ask what if God has limits?
Then we think, he probably does.
He self limits because he understands and man does not,
that freedom is the ability to say no.
Freedom does not exist by itself.
Neither does fear, control, power. They all relate to something or someone.
Only love can stand alone and relate to nothing in particular
and since GOD IS LOVE.....love is everything whether we are conscious of it or not.
Love is what God speaks in all creation whether it is seen or acknowledged or not.

The fact we are conscious of being and existing is a miracle in itself and this consciousness
lives in the soul. where we find ourselves.
We however do not belong to ourselves  but to love and love stands alone, as God, as one.

It is hard to understand isn't it?

I could see James' eyes trying to have all this sink in.

Is it a wonder no one tries?
Easier to smoke a joint, drink some whisky and find a place to hide, to get away.
But I guess no matter what you do, raw truth stands there, like you said.

Yup. We exist only as a conscious entity and it is up to us to decide what we want.
Do we want Love? But it's not really a choice, is it?
Being part of the BIG 1 , we are all LOVE.

God always wins in the end even if we think he loses.
This makes watching movies on dark, evil entities boring and untruthful.
Jesus was sent to explain it to us.
If we are  all 1 , then what is the point of getting offended or upset
about what people do or say? It's like getting mad at yourself. lol

We have a time and a place to learn and experience so we can make the right decisions for the right reasons. Unfortunately many choose to govern, saying these words have no meaning and fool everyone else, to go further away from the truth but it still sits there as we tangle and mangle life
till it becomes meaningless. They mangle love, turning it into sin.
Love is not a sin. People interpret it sinfully as it was explained to them by other men and then it is used to wage wars in all levels of society and nations.
Interesting isn't it?

Stories. History. Life.
It all gives you a head ache.No one teaches people how to reach into the paradigm of the wicked mind, to show it that it doesn't need to do the things it does.

We continued with the morning sun, preparing for our day.
James had to leave and I had my children to care for.
My head felt heavy.
I waved good bye as he boarded his copter.

Getting to Know You.

Supper was without a doubt interesting as James brought a good ol
fashioned Poulet BBQ already seasoned and cooked.
We just had to warm it up
and make a few boiled potatoes and carrots to go with a nice Chardonnay.

It was nice to have someone to chat with on the cabin veranda.

So do you have any brothers and sisters? he inquired.

Yes. I have a brother in Calgary. He's a High School Science Teacher
and I have a Sister in some kind of Law Clerk business.
I'm the black sheep that ran away from it all.
My Dad runs a Sporting Goods Store and he seems to like it.
Mom helps him.
 You?

My brother is a vet and my parents run a small ranch.
They love horses and do the Equestrian horse show thing.
We have some nice Hanoverian jumpers and we breed and sell horses too.
They also keep a few cows.

Seems almost a shame when they kill so many horses just for being wild.
That's where I got Beau.

Oh ya?

Ya. He ran free in the wild and one day we just made friends but he is his own man.
Quirky. This is how we got into summer entertainment.
He would never listen and do his own thing so I used it for us to make a few bucks.
The people love coming to see him and he got some what spoiled by all the attention.

Do you know what breed he is?

No, I don't. Probably a Heinz 57 .

He's got a nice Arabian face though.

He stands 6.1  hands so he's not Arabian.
His back is not long so he's not a carriage horse and his hooves are
not very wide.. more for prairie running
and .....he has the temperament of a Mustang.
Likes to smile a lot.
But there is no horse I would trust more than my Beau.
He's got my heart, hook, line and sinker.

So I can't compete there . James joked.

No Siree Bob.No one stands even close to my Beau.
I teased.
The Chardonnay went down smooth as satin.
and it felt good just to sit there.I had to stop a yawn
creeping up on me.My eyes began to close.

I guess I better make up a bed for you before I get too sloshed.
Where did you sleep last time you were here?

Oh, I used the couch and Luke used the spare bedroom.

Ok so you can sleep there then.
I better turn in  since I have an early rise tomorrow.

I got out some warm blankets and gave them to him.

Just in case.

Al right. You don't mind if I sit a bit?

No, go ahead.

You know, you are the easiest person to get along with.

Am I?  You haven't seen me when I'm cross yet. I laughed.

No... I don't think you can ever get cross.
You just don't suit it.
I mean, I could be a serial killer and here you are, as nice as could be.

I think you are used to people being cross with you.
Besides, you don't know if I am a serial killer either.

I guess I'm not around too many people either. I am just like you.
I like to keep to myself and do my own thing.
So if anyone is cross with me, I don't know anything about it.

So, you are not a serial killer, right?

If I told ya, I'd have to kill ya. He joked.

Okee Dokey then. I won't tell you either.
G'night.

Good Night Eleanor.

Well this ended on a good note I thought.
I made sure to lock my door.

Before falling asleep I heard the door knob turn,
then a chuckle as he walked away.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up early dawn just in time for a happy James walking in with
4 sparkling bass hanging from a wire.

Woah! What have you been doing all night?
 Fishing?

Aren't they great? Perfect breakfast. he exclaimed.
I came to try to wake you but seems you were deep asleep.
I found your Bible here and it was either  reading that or go fishing
so I went fishing.
Is this how you pass your time at night?

I like to read up and sorta make sense of things. Like for example,
if most religions date  back to Abraham, then this is where we have to go
to find the discrepancies.

For instance the Jews and Christians follow Abraham through his wife Sarah and son Isaac.
The Muslims follow Abraham through a slave woman Haggar, who had  an older son, Ishmael, from Abraham.
Sarah sent Haggar and Ishmael away saying they will not get her son Isaacs' inheritance.
Ishmael made fun of her little son.

Haggar had to walk in the desert searching for water and she is the one who the Muslims commemorate in their pilgrimages to Mecca,  along with Ishmael, creating the possible source of the Lord's prophecy
“He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Gen. 16:12).)

Ishmael did grow to be strong, wild and free and because of what happened tp him, didn't get along with anyone, even his own kin. He  fought every one and it is unfortunately through him, that Muhammad  founded the Islamic religion, construed to be  pagan.
Muhammad made Jesus equal to him as a prophet, instead of agreeing Jesus was the son of God.
Muhammad thought himself to be greater than Jesus and created more rivalry and division between people, instead of the unity and love Jesus tried to teach.

Neither the Jews nor the Christians would follow his preaching so he tried to kill the Jesus message making Christians second class citizens, dispossessing the Jews, sanctifying fighting , vengeance and promoting a Holy War.

The Jews , Christians and Muslims will never unite because of Jesus, who Muhammad denies
as a deity . The incarnation, atonement, the crucifixion and the question of God as a triad, Father, Son and Spirit, will never be accepted by Islam even though they proclaim to be attached to Abraham.

And so we have the story  today with so much killing through out the Middle East and Africa.
This probably is why people there are not allowed to use his name or talk about him because they fear the truth coming out. Anyway , any one can become a prophet if he has enough people to believe in him but it does not mean he speaks for God.
God is one and will always represent love and loving someone, means not to cause pain and suffering but to work united for the better good.
Most of the world tries to do good. We send missionaries to Africa to teach the kids so they can grow and make a better country for themselves and then these guys come in and kill every one.

 http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/112053/jewish/Hagar.htm

Isn't that interesting. I never knew that....About Abraham that is.

The fish were sizzling on the frying pan.

I don't read the Bible much.
Don't go to church either but sitting out in the wild
I know that there is something ..... a lot more than we know or give credit
to.
It can't all be just that simple as Darwin and evolution.

We call God a creator and what is evolution anyway if not a creation?
We play with words, talking about the same things.

Look at what science is trying to do today with cloning for example
and when they try to create better plant specimens and animals to grow
with more or less meat and fat.
They create and new things evolve out of what they do.
Without creation, there can't be evolution.

You make some good points.
For sure evolution is some kind of creation.
It's a change. That's for sure.
It's not a total new beginning.

Anyway. People today don't care but they should.
I don't think we are alone out here.
I don't think we are ready to play God yet either.
So many things that we do working in the dark, might
have dire end results.
Going beyond perfection...where does it end up?

James looked at me and our eyes met .
It was like looking into the deep black chasms of our souls,
where all is hidden.

No one can underestimate the importance of Abraham to the three great monotheistic faiths of the world, but unlike Jews and Christians, Muslims claim their identity with Abraham through Hagar and Ishmael rather than through Sarah and Isaac. Muhammad sought to give legitimacy to Islam by identifying with Abraham and his other son, Ishmael. And this is the root of the alienation that exists between Christians and Muslims, both of whom claim to be the heirs of Abraham.
(Hagar is not mentioned by name in the Quran. But the Hadith, that is, the Traditions, correctly name her as the mother of Ishmael. In the pilgrim rites at Mecca, all Muslims re-enact Hagar's desperate search for water as they run between the hills of Safa and Marwa. The search is climaxed as they reach the well of Zamzam where they drink in memory of God's mercy to Hagar.)  Ishmael is mentioned several times in the Quran and is powerfully memorialized in the rites connected with the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
Taking a few steps back into the Bible and the story of Abraham, Isaac, Sara and Ishmael we know that Ishmael was the first-born.  Its too long a story to go into, but the crux of the story was when Sara got pregnant Ishmael made fun of his little half-brother. That was too much for Sarah. She made an irrevocable decision: ". . . Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac"  Hagar and Ishmael were provisioned and dismissed from service. Who can gage the depth of bitterness and resentment that must have filled the hearts of Hagar and Ishmael?
The source of the Lord's prophetic utterance (“He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Gen. 16:12).) concerning the behavior of Ishmael is rooted in these events.
Is there any linkage between the characteristics of Ishmael and that of Islam, which has embraced him as one of their patriarchs? As strange as it may seem, there may be. History seems to bear this out.
Hostility can either focus either inwardly, causing psychosomatically induced illnesses or suicidal tendencies, or it will project itself outward on some designated hate object. It can be triggered to commit acts of violence, either against a person (homicide) or against a people (genocide or war).
Ishmael's hostility and propensity to violence were rooted in the sin of his own scoffing and jealous attitude towards his brother Isaac. Muslims today are those in whom this vicious cycle has not been broken. They have voluntarily chosen to identify with Ishmael and have, consciously or unconsciously, embraced the spirit of that ancient and bitter rivalry. The present-day animosity of Islam towards Jews and Christians, in this author's opinion, can be traced to the Islamic embrace of the spirit of Ishmael.
Ishmael was to be strong, wild and free; and we might add, he also would be difficult, holding his brothers in contempt, despising town life, loving his freedom to the point of not being able to get along with his own kin or anyone else. As one commentary puts it: "The Ishmaelites live in an incessant state of feud . . . with one another or with their neighbours.
Unfortunately, from Ishmael's line sprung a man, Muhammad (570-632), who initially founded Islam as a religion for the Arab people. Later he tried to universalize it and impose it on all mankind. In Islam, Jesus is reduced to a mere prophet; and by making himself equal to Jesus and ultimately superior to Him, Muhammad perpetuated the spirit of rivalry, not reconciliation. The roots of this present-day alienation go back to the tragedy of events that led to the breakup of Abraham's family. Islam became the venue for the aggrieved and alienated members of this family to redress the shame of that early expulsion from the tents of Abraham. Even more than that, Islam is committed to the attempt to dominate the world.
Muhammad was a true descendant of Ishmael. While trying desperately to tie into the genealogical tree of Biblical prophets, he fiercely maintained his independence as an "Arab prophet" with an "Arabic Qu’ran. He stoutly maintained that he was neither of the Jews nor the Christians but of the "Religion of Abraham". In taking this position, Muhammad, attempting to establish his own identity as a legitimate prophet, borrowed from the traditions of each, as well as separated himself from both. The final voice of God to the human race.
At first, Muhammad attempted to woo both Jews and Christians. When he was unsuccessful, as neither would subscribe to the idea of a pagan God, he not only turned away from them, but in the case of the Jews, after dispossessing two of the tribes, he banished them, and massacred all the men of a third tribe and made slaves of the women and children. In the case of the Christians, he also reduced them to second-class citizens (Dhimmis) and attempted to destroy the very heart of the Christian message. Having made himself odious to both Jews and Christians, Muhammad then took the step of enshrining violence forever among his followers by sanctifying vengeance (Q. 42:39) and fighting (Q. 2:216; 4:74; 9:5; 61:4). (There are more than fifty separate references in the Quran on the duties and conditions of Holy War).
In some mysterious way, it appears that the characteristics of Ishmael, as described in Genesis 16:12, have survived to this day in the lives of those who have so closely identified with him through the life of Muhammad and his teachings in the religion of Islam.
As much as we would like to see Judaism, Christianity and Islam as branches of one big happy "family of Abraham," it cannot be. The stumbling block is Jesus Christ, the "seed of Abraham." The issue between Islam and Christianity has to do with the way Muslims have departed from the Scriptures and denigrated Christ. In fact, they have gone far beyond doctrinal differences; they have set up a rival religion that seeks to supplant Christianity.  Islam has taken an adamant stance against the very heart of the Gospel message, including denial of the deity of Christ, incarnation, atonement, the crucifixion and the question of God as Father, Son and Spirit.

Shattered Faith Renewed.

A week went by and things got back to routine.
I thought about James quite a few times but then tried to cast it aside.
What was the point?
I loved my life here.  I would be no different than the story of
|Gorillas in the Mist, except I had my own children, as well as the
children of the forest.
You got a blessing of freedom too, where no one cared what you did.
No laws to shovel snow off your sidewalk.
No laws as to how you had to walk or where.
No red lights. No traffic tickets. No nosy neighbors to bother or to
bother you. No utility bills to pay.No politics to contend with.
Listening to news every day was hell enough to live in.

You got by and the animals got by living off the land  and what a beautiful
country it was.
Your mind slept in true peace without being polluted by noise and electricity.
If you needed noise, well there was always something you could listen to or watch
using solar, wind and water power.

I managed to have a collection of tapes and discs from city life I kept for such occasions
but who needed them?
I had my art work, knitting, books, sitting by a crackling fire and a sky full of the
 brightest stars and moon..
Sometimes I'd sit outside by a small camp fire and a shooting star would fall somewhere in the distance.
The forest creaked as the wind swooshed through it in winter and in the summer
leaves rustled in the trees and squirrels chirped brightening up the landscape..
You'd hear wood peckers and the river and the morning cock crow.
It was enough to wrench the soul out of your body watching and experiencing all this
love, united by the splendor of all things.
Why would anyone want to leave all this?

After a month James was far from my mind.
Then I heard civilization in the flapping of helicopter wings
in a nearby field and there he was again.

Hello there gorgeous!
Was in the neighborhood and thought you could use some company.

I laughed. Sure . Anytime.
We shook hands and walked toward the cabin.

I got you some supplies. Goodies if you want to call them.

James began to unload his heavy canvas bag which was full of staples,
wine, cheese, flour, butter, oil,  sugar, lemon juice, spices, salt,
canned tomatoes, crackers, canned tuna and sardines, macaroni, dried fruit. nuts...

Ah you didn't have to do all that.

Sure I did. I cook here, so I need stuff to cook  he laughed.
Besides , how much can a little Harley carry?
If anything, I saved you a trip.
I got another bag with potatoes, onions and garlic.

Gosh you don't cook that much.
I mean how many times have you been here, like 2?
So are you a professional Chef too? I chuckled.

Want some coffee?

Sure would love a cup.

Ahh..... he sighed.
I never knew I would look forward to coming to this place as much as I do.
It kinda grows on you doesn't it?

Yup. Once you get the bug, it never goes away.
but you must see nicer places up in Alaska.

Sure . It's nice up there too but C O L D!! Brrrrr. and the flies kinda feast on you.
Then there are the bears and wolves...
Don't you have any here?

Well I've come across a wolf who really became my friend and a cougar....
which by the way
I have not seen since but so far no bears thank God!

Oh Looky here! Carrots for my Chou Chou.

James ran out to the barn to see the cows and I ran after him.
We were like kids having fun with the animals.
Beaus' eyes targeted the carrots and he crowded next to all the cows to get some from
James who just delighted in feeding them treats.

" Hey guys... Miss me? " he cooed at them in between licks and crunches.

So what do you do up there in Alaska? I asked.

Well, mostly scientific stuff. I don't know if you heard about the Denali fault line up there.
There is a place called the Wickersham Wall, which rose 15,000 feet from its base, from all the earth quakes they have been having lately.

Oh!. How scary.

Ya it i s actually but it spared most of the Alaskan cities thank fully.
This happened in 2002 and waves came up all the way to Seattle from a 7.9 earthquake
and even reached Texas and Louisiana.
It cut through glaciers, divided forests , cut streams, roads...

They have volcanoes in Iceland and Green land as well which have to be kept an eye out for.\

Wow! and here I was thinking I was safe up here.

James was patting Beau.
Well, you know, where are you safe these days anyway?

I was thinking about our little talk before I left and it rang true in so many ways.
We are all at Gods' mercy  and no where do we know it more, than out here in Gods' country.

We  both stood in holy silence partaking in it all , like Mary and Joseph,in a lowly stable ,
surrounded by animals.
We are all visitors here and when your time is up, it is up.

Happy Easter.

Rhymes With Plague had this on his blog and I liked it
so I copied it and put it on mine.

Today we need God more than ever because if we put
our souls into mans' hands, we will forever be lost.

Hope every one has a wonderful week end.

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of Glory died;
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ, my God;
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were an offering far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

The following poem, written recently by Daniel Jepsen, can be sung to the tune of Londonderry Air. It was published today at the internetmonk website:

Amazing Grace, It Reached As Far As Me

When time was young, and glory filled the garden,
The man and wife refused their perfect place.
Yet in Your wrath, your mercy spoke a promise,
And clothed their sins in garments of your grace.

And I like them, have tasted fruit forbidden
And raised my fist against my Lord above.
Oh strip away the rags of my rebellion,
And clothe me with Thy Holy robe of love.

And on the Rock, you placed Your very presence
When streams of life flowed from the stricken stone
You bore Yourself the price of their rebellion
Their thirst to slake, their sin-guilt to atone.

Thirsty I come, to You the living water
And find a spring, abundant, clear and free
You quench my thirst with rivers of salvation
You save my soul with fountains of mercy.

You gave a day, a day of your atonement
When the High Priest would slay the sacrifice.
And all the sins were taken from your presence
You dwelt with men, by blood the only price.

Guilty I come, and tremble in Your presence
Yet see my guilt placed on a substitute!
I stand and praise my God and my redeemer
He sits and hears the worship He is due.

Then one dark day, the symbols found fulfillment
As all our sin was placed upon Your head
The Rock was struck, and blood came forth to cleanse us
Instead of death, Your tree brought life instead!

I will forever lift my eyes to Calvary,
to see the cross where Jesus died for me.
How marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul:
You looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.

For three dark days, the Seed in earth was buried
But breaking forth, that Seed gave birth to life
The firstfruit of that mighty, kingdom harvest
Which heals all hurts, and takes away all strife

I shall arise with Christ my risen Sovereign
And reign with Him through all eternity
What wondrous love, that makes our Judge our Father
Amazing grace, it reached as far as me
Amazing grace, it reached as far as me!

What's a Place Like You, Doing in a Girl Like this?

Hey Bob!

Eleanor. Good to see you.

See the store is doing good.

Can't complain. You came in to do some shopping?

Ya , always need supplies. Did you find those guys I called you about?

You know , we sent a helicopter but we found no ski doos or people.
Or cow for that matter. You said you gave them a cow?

Ya . They wanted a horse but I couldn't give them Beau and I was
scared there for a while they might insist.
I got home late chasing those cows and ended up sleeping in the barn.
I was so tired and there was a cougar stalking us and then Yawny came and
chased it.

Yawny? Who's Yawny?

Oh it's this wolf that shared our campfire the night before.
He got scared of the skidoos wouldn't you know.
He was gorgeous, with this huge golden mane.
We lucked out the animals and I. Anyway, these men slept in my cabin and
made themselves at home. The whole thing is bizarre.

They left with the cow though thank fully and I called you to tell you.

Hmmm. Guess this is a police matter.
You said two people were missing on the skidoo?

That's what they said. We were about 12 miles out when I did
hear skidoos in the dark and a bunch of guys hootin and hollerin.
I was thinking that it wasn't a good thing to do this time of year
with so much risk of avalanche. You think there was one?

We did not have any reports but hey, it's the Rockies.

I laughed. Ya. That says it all doesn't it.
Well looks like I'm out a cow.
They should have reached some kin in Bear Mountain by now if nothing else.

Ah, hate to tell you girl but no one lives up there.

Well this is getting weirder and weirder every minute.
I don't know what to think.

Well I guess the first thing to do is report a missing cow and
the names of these two fellas you met.

 -------------------------------------------

After a few hours at the police station the journey home was swift.
Dad's old Harley putted away telling every one not to mess with it .
The side car was filled to the brim with supplies.

As I got closer I saw the chimney of my cabin being used again.
This is beginning to become a habit with people coming up here I thought.

As I neared the front door, it opened and a smiling face appeared.

Hi! Remember me? James? James French?

I got off the bike and gently took off the helmet.

Why yes. You are the man who stole my cow.

We shook hands.

Oh hardly. I hope you didn't think that.
In any event she is in the barn with the other 5 cows as good as new.

Well I didn't know what to think.
The cow was missing since spring and a search didn't find anyone in
the area you said you were going.

I headed for the barn and sure enough there was Chou Chou, fat and healthy.
I walked out and unceremoniously shut the barn door.

So how did you come this time?

Oh, by helicopter.

My friends apparently were not lost and sent one out to find us he laughed.
By then we were almost 1/2 way up Bear Mountain where we set up our camp.
Well they rustled us in and strapped Chou Chou underneath and we flew home.

We had the wedding the next day. Luke went on his honeymoon and I had to rush to my scientific expedition to Alaska, which I couldn't miss.
My parents watched Chou Chou and became very fond of her.
Now I am back and decided I had better return her to you.
As they say better late than never.
I can't thank you enough for all your help.

We walked slow to the cabin and inside, just like last time there
was coffee and a casserole on the table.

I took the liberty to make something since you were not home.
I fed the horse, cows and chickens and I see you have a few bunnies as well.

Yes, they are new additions, gifts.

Well then, I guess you are all set.
We sat and ate slowly.

Guess it's time for me to go.
Once again thank you for your hospitality.

James shook my hand. His fingers were long and gentle .
His face looked cool, tanned as he looked out from behind his
curly locks of wind swept black hair
Must be he spent a lot of time outside.

May I ask what a girl like you is doing all by herself in the wilderness?

Well I guess I am here for what most people go out into the wilderness for.
Peace....nature religion. I like it here.
Basically I find people ... are hard to live with.

Have you been following the news?
This guy Lunney is leaving the Tory Party because he feels his faith is attacked.
He should have been shown respect and given an opportunity to talk. --

Religion is not for everyone.
One has to understand philosophy science and to believe something on
faith to be true without proof.
Today many do not understand anything except sex and drugs.

Oh Well That's not fair. James interjected.

Well, Judge for yourself.
Today, people put value in what is owed them instead of what they can
do to be good and generous with their time and money and learning because it
is the right thing to do.
We would need no laws if man behaved properly.
Just think of all the lawyers and judges who would be out of business today.

We need open discussion which is what law is all about.

I know but what kind of discussion can we have if every one in government consists of the same people and have no faith?
What kind of leaders do they make if we elect criminals and
addicts and sexual deviants,
in the closet of course, to make our laws?

 People are not soulful anymore.
People are not humble to understand that nothing is owed to them and
tomorrow each and every one of them could be bullied into understanding
that nothing they say or do has any meaning.
They are paid to spew hot air and waste tax payers money and this
could end at any time.
They can laugh today and live homeless tomorrow. No one is immune.

That's right so we need society and laws.

 I smiled.

People put more value in man made laws rather than into justice and
in doing the right thing. How can anyone put trust in any politician to
talk for the community he represents, if he is not allowed to speak for
it or to it. Remember ... separation of Church and State?

 Ya but we need that.

Why, so other people except Christians, use it?
The Christian religion is an enlightened religion.
This does not mean it is perfect because it is run by men who struggle every day
debating in what is good and right. People believe in God, for the goodness he
represents and for the spiritual food he feeds to replenish souls, to give them
hope in the future of mankind..

So do laws, courts and the justice system.

Politicians, judges, lawyers, kill hope every day in this world by fighting to
win cases which are wrong for what man's physical body and mind was
not designed for and when they win, they feed cruelty and damage innocent
souls just by being exposed to them.

Take for example what we believe in today.
A person led every one to believe sex is the most important thing to man .
He said it without a shred of truth in what he said and people jumped to believe him.
Why not? What is the purpose they all liked that reasoning?
It's no different than what Muslims are led to believe when they suicide bomb.

The truth is, that Life is more important followed by love .
Without life and love, there can be no sex.
A person would not survive to maturity to have it.

Today we hear excuses: "It was only sex."
People demean their bodies and souls every day when they live this way and
think it is acceptable because the law says it's ok.but then society is left to
carry the burden of this behavior and one day it will be intolerable and unaffordable
and then every one will fall into disgrace and misery and fight wars as an excuse
to kill if disease doesn't, which is what was being done throughout time to
 curb population growth.

So I take it you are Conservative James kidded.

I guess I am. I don't much value grouping though.

The law and science can say many things but it doesn't mean it is right or true.
We find proof of these things every day in science that nothing is,as we say it is.

We call a supreme being "divine" because of the limitless knowledge and experience
that comes with being divine. No man or prophet on this earth compares or has
a right to speak in its' name, except to do good because God is a creator.

This we can conclude ourselves because we see man,
is not a very good animal for this planet.
 We should all be dead.

But we're not so we must be doing something right.

True, but we are always fighting, when we don't have to.
Man is limited but he can be divine through the spirit which never dies.
Man also consists of positive and negative energy and positive energy
deals with the light. It does not hide behind veils, shadows and darkness
where bad things happen and still do under other religions and between people.

Everything that may have been created does not mean it evolved here on this
planet, inclusive of man. We have no absolute proof of anything, only studies.

 Well we have some proof.

No, we don't. We believe we have proof, just as people believe there is a
God. Science is not any better than faith in what we do not see.
Science is limited , as man is limited and it does not see as a divine God sees.
We are all running in circles instead of walking
the straight line of truth.
We would have a cure for cancer but we don't after how many years of study?
We would not have cancers, if we lived right.

We threw away the 10 Commandments and put in Human Rights and what happened?
Under Human Rights, inhuman acts are defended and protected and
let free to do more damage.

Today, people cry asking why Lufthansa allowed a crazy person to fly a plane?
Well, under Human Rights, they cannot stop a crazy person from flying
a plane full of people.
People have rights to be crazy and free and employed.
The definition of "crazy" has been lifted out of psychiatry because every one
is crazy. The craziest of all are these psychiatrists.
I laughed.

Guantanamo Bay kept criminal, fanatical men and then set them free as well to do more harm.

Apparently they were not guilty.

No? Then why the sudden turmoil and killing that began right after they were all let go?

What makes a person Human if not the soul which separates us from animals?
Even animals today have more soul than some people do.

An animal would not scorn God in government especially when God is the ultimate truth.
 So why does man?
 Does he know everything?
Man has a false sense of security . He has a false sense  of entitlement. He has a false sense of control.
Man has nothing except the ability to think his way through some effects, which he is alone responsible for causing.
So he creates false images, design, laws ... to hide his ineffectiveness and
incompetence.
The truth however doesn't change. It stands there barefaced and raw looking at him.
So man turns his head not to look at truth and when he does this, he loses himself and his soul.

Look at this other case where Jean Wabafiyebazu was killed after the guys  drove their mother's BMW — with diplomatic plates — to the scene of the crime. Marc, his brother, waited outside when  gunfire broke out inside the  apartment complex.  Roxanne Dube, their mother, served as ambassador to Zimbabwe from 2005 to 2008 and began her Miami posting as Canada's consul general only six weeks ago.
The story goes this guy, Anthony Rodriguez, brought two pounds of marijuana to the house and tried to sell it. So now two people are dead and Marc also faces charges of threatening a police officer saying he would shoot a detective in the head.
Some nice kid from a good family eh?

Now in Montreal, 500 Asian women smuggled in for a prostitution ring.
The RCMP broke two cells arresting 6 people. The papers are full of such interesting news.

Ya but they caught them didn't they?

Sure. They caught them but things like this should not happen if mankind was taught about Life
and Love more than they are taught about sex and other things in the distorted way they teach today.
You know , schools don't tell the parents what kids do today?
Parents have become the bad guys instead of the role models and leaders kids could trust and love.

All I am saying is that if God spoke for mankind, as we speak for animals who cannot represent themselves on this planet, we would not exist today.
We need to thank God for allowing us time to learn, but it won't be for ever.
Now do you understand why I like it here?

James smiled.
I can see that you are a lovely person and that it is very pretty out here.
So unless you want me to spend the night, I better hurry before it gets very dark.
I'd like to come back and continue this conversation later if you don't mind.
I smiled back.
Thanks again. and off he went.

I stood there like a straight board, stupified at what just happened.
Imagine bringing a cow in by helicopter and a big helicopter at that and he was flying it.
 Within seconds it was gone.
I unpacked the groceries blubbering to myself at what an idiot I was disclosing so much about myself.and went to my secret room.

Mother hen to rooster. Mother hen to rooster.

Ya.  Hi Henny Penny. What up?

I got my cow back Bob. She flew in by copter. They took her out by copter too.

 Really?

Ya they had a camp up on Bear Mountain and everything is ok.

Tell you all about it next time I see you.

Ok Glad to hear you got your cow back. Don't be a stranger, be safe and keep in touch.
 Rooster out.
I locked up and headed straight for bed.
Needless to say, my dreams were full of the handsome James French and his must be full of
Loony Eleanor.

A Horse! A Horse! A Kingdom for a Horse!

Here come the clowns.

Beau and I had the best clown entertainment every
summer and fall week end. Tourists came in from
cities to small towns such as what we had here up north.

Community Fairs made money staging horse and cowboy shows,
old gift shop saloons, crafts sold by the local people such as myself.
Then of course there was tons of food to be had,
fishing from small swimming pools for the kids,
Ball games, country dances and old parlor music.
Petting stalls were put in for the small folk and an
amusement center with cotton candy and pop corn.
The teens had the outdoor movies to watch from their cars then of course
we always had bands come in for the big long week ends.

People had a hootin good time while filling the hotels
with lots of loot to survive the winter.
I would make posters to invite them in for the horse performance
and Beau would do his best to annoy me while
every one else giggled and laughed to no end.

We always had a ball Beau and I.
Then he would show his prowess at dangling me upside down,
imitating me walking like a soldier and then sitting and pretending
he was an angel when I'd look. He'd turn my umbrella inside out when
I pretended to hide under it from the rain so I'd get wet.
In the end he would bow down and sit and thank the audience by
waving his hoof, with a toothy smile, to tell them to come again.
He pretended to fart when we would bow, bum to bum and then
show a toothy smile. The public loved it.

They adored him and would always ask to pat him.
After the show I'd take him to the public and Beau
would have more than his fare share of lovin and ego boosting.
They'd ask how I trained this horse to do the things he does.
I'd answer:

Train? When in doubt, I always let my horse do the thinkin .

These made for great, clean fun  memories and left the public
mesmerized wondering what this horse will think of next.
