White Rock Special

This is one old car I could not pass up photographing.
They sure know how to dramatize old vehicles.

I tried my video camera and it's so light that moving it without rocking the movie
is very hard to do. So I know in the future, apart from learning how to use the internet
to blog videos, I need to use a tri pod.



This is a small footage of the sea gulls. The girls behind me were cackling like birds and fit it wonderfully
but my husband thought music would be better.
The little baby girl was such a delight to watch on the beach as she played and explored.

Maybe in the future I will be able to put up more interesting stuff to see.

A Bit more of Verbal throw up. lol
Inspired by the new psychological thrillers
we watch today.
But hey, to have ideas to make such movies,
expecting no  bad side effects from people
who are already depressed, is a little unrealistic.
They can't self censor. Not many people can.
Artists say this is art and this is what people like to see.
This is what attracts them and people can differentiate
entertainment from real life. But can they, when your system
is on over load. It just desensitizes you to evil.
It becomes a part of life, a part of hell.

One would think that "crazy" is not something we
want to play with but parents lose so many children
who use other peoples' ADD drugs and no one comes back from
those drugs.
We teach them in schools and yet they are not old enough to understand.
Do all kids need drugs, as much as they are pushed on them today?
Have they no say in the matter?

So why push kids to grow up so fast and why do adults not understand
that it's not all about them. You don't do what you want to do, in front of children.

Parents behave in such bad, self serving ways, setting such bad role models to follow
 that the only way you can stop a kid, from doing bad things
is to say to him, your Father or your Mother, will be put in jail for what YOU do.

It seems that's the only thing that will make a kid stop to actually think
about the consequences of his actions.
Seems a kid still has a soul compared to the adult who is now hard core,
ME MYSELF AND I

If something is not good for a kid, it's not good for an adult.
That's why children are gifts, to keep you grounded.

Not much hope when crazy goes to vote either
Yesterday I watched a documentary of foreign doctors
who went to work in Africa to places like Senegal and Kenya.
They work in very bad conditions, doing what they can to help,
 taking care of very serious
human health issues. They help many but many also die.

They speak of God forgetting Africa but you can't have everything.
As you move forward, some things are lost to make room for new
and better ways to live. That's not to mean one should forget.
Then after you save a person, another comes and kills him
in the name of God.
Crazy???

And what about the rest of the world living in better conditions
fighting over religion/ culture, instead of working together, as a country
moving forward to guide people to live happy and peaceful lives?
Do we elect governments and leaders to lead us to death?
So much waste of energy, money, health.....
fighting over things that don't matter.

As spiritual beings, we don't understand that we cannot escape God.
He enters us all. Every time a parent loves kisses cherishes cries over, a child,
This is God. When you show charity, compassion, mercy.... this is God.

but God can be used by evil when you invite bad spirits to enter your body and soul
like through drugs, watching bad movies, violence, alcohol, bad religion,political  dogma,.... things
 which open doors to painful things,  taking over.
bullets, bombs, chemicals,stones, nuclear energy, poison......

Trick is to know what true love is and this can only be taught by the true God.
Those fighting in the name of God should think about that.
Those fighting against God should also think about that

This is an entrance door to one of the houses in White Rock, all made of stones.
I thought it was a beautiful gate and it inspired me to write this poem.
Looking at it, one would love to see what's on the other side.

Happy Fathers' Day from White Rock ,BC

I love the idea of turning shells into night lights.
White Rock, BC had so many of them displayed in store windows.

If it wasn't for the strict pay parking laws, it is a very nice border town to visit.
where dogs have free parking.. lol

 Being a sea town  people have dogs sitting in balconies over looking the restaurants and people walking
down below. They are never bored and living what I call the best dogs life. lol

At least Tanya found this all sooooo cool. She enjoyed her day out
on the town.

As can be seen there is a very wide selection of shells to peruse through for sale.

 

The train track follows the coast line and we were lucky to see one
go by. This particular part of the city has the best fried fish.
People come to buy take home or to sit and eat at the beach.

Far out, you can see the famous White Rock Pier jutting out.

On the top left hand corner we find the closest US town, Blaine.
We used to go boating there into the marina to see the seals sunning themselves.
These sea gulls were very entertaining and would come right up to you.

Here is a closer shot of the pier .If you click to enlarge, you will see
a lone crane on the right side of the picture. People feed birds here
so the sea gulls are HUGE.
People love to walk on the pier, set up chairs and umbrellas and kids dive
off of it for some old fashioned fun.
We used to crab here but no longer.On the other side some boats are tied up
behind the rocky wave  stopper. All around you see mountainous islands.
Such a beautiful sight.
We used to spend a lot of time here. The restaurants are excellent.
As you sit you see people sporting their old jalopees, lambourghinees,
and motorcycles.
 You can enjoy home made gelato. Excellent food. Sit on the roof top
 of the famous Boathouse restaurant, visit the beach museum and shopping
for art craft work and beach wear is so much fun here.

As evening approaches, the tide is slowly coming in. These birds
would never leave the cement table we were sitting on

I especially loved photographing these birds.

I Only Want My Arms Full of You

I thought this recipe would be a good one. I found it a long time ago.

Don't think I put it up before but all these things are healthy for you.

Quinoa health bars

Prep time:  1 hour 10 mins

Total time:  1 hour 10 mins

Serves: 8

Ingredients

• ¼ cup cooked quinoa
• 6 dates
• 2 tablespoons tahini
• 2 tablespoons coconut oil
• ¼ cup almonds

Instructions

1. Puree the dates, almonds and quinoa in a food processor, pressing several times until you get a smooth paste.
2. Transfer to a bowl, and add coconut oil, and tahini. Mix well with a spoon or clean hands until everything is completely incorporated.
3. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
4. Wet your hands, take 2 tablespoons of the mixture, and form a bar. Place on a dish, and repeat with the rest.
5. Refrigerate for at least 2 more hours, and eat as desired. You can also put them in the freezer 2 hours before eating, for a firmer bar.
6. If you would like a more chocolatey taste, add as much cacao powder to the mixture, as you like.

This morning I had a night mare.
I dreamed I saw my white rabbit in his aquarium.
A thin black one was running around in there with him.
As this got my attention I began a closer inspection and saw my Mom
sitting beside the cage holding a big fat white wet rabbit looking non too pleased.

Then I saw my Dad and he was thinking I would be happy but was a little concerned when he saw
I was looking in horror cause now I saw 6 more rabbits in the cage with mine.

I kept thinking they will kill him and then look how much work this will be to clean this aquarium
You can't keep 8 big rabbits in an aquarium even if it s a big one. The smell alone would kill them.
You need a cage with a grill bottom so it's easier to clean in the morning and I can't do all this work.

It was enough to make me jump out of bed and hear BBC news say the rebels gave up in Syria.
Then I went to the bathroom and opened the net to check this out and all it said was Obama finally
decided to help the rebels, Putin saying this is bad  and Brown in England saying if we don't help there will
be more world terrorism.

Well Putin wants to be Czar and dictator. We can see why he would be interested in the people to lose.

I kept thinking all the good people are dying and the bad ones no one kills.

I got up, made coffee and a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs mushrooms and onions for my husband
along with \French bread.
He won;t have lunch now being so full
And for my son I have boiled potatoes with turkey burgers with red peppers onion and garlic along with
fresh spinach with mango dressing.
Hope he likes it.

It seemed like a very full morning even though I did nothing special.

Pizza Bashing

Well this is a little different way of making a pizza but it sure looks delicious.

I never have patience for making rising dough. On the video, She says it doesn't take much time but I think it does.

I like making dough with baking soda. and I never have bread flour.
and I like adding pizza sauce which many don't do anymore.

Today I thought \I'd make one with hamburger meat onions garlic green pepper and tomato but when I came
across this video it sure caught my eye. She fries everything before putting it on the pizza

Wouldn't mind trying it.

What I noticed was when she mixed the yeast with the sugar it didn't rise like my \mom's used to.
I would have called it dead yeast and I threw a whole batch away cause |I thought it was dead.
|My Mom's yeast used to over flow from the cup it was soo good and today it hardly
changes in the cup and then , in the video, she added olive oil to the cup as well.

Things sure have changed since my Mom's time but I still prefer my \mom's way of rising yeast to this one.
Her stuff always came out superb using normal flour.

This all looks fake to me. Even the yeast is not normal and they charge you so much more for it.

Have to ask questions.
I think people do need to ask questions as to what the heck they are eating today.
Simple things like yeast and you can't trust it.

Checkers Anyone??

I pushed it and it's finished. Whew!!
I gave it to my son and he is happy to have two ponchos now.

One is blue and one is checkered.

One is knitted and one is crocheted.

My husband complained today that he was cold and wanted to put the heating on and I was nice and warm
with this nice thick blanket on my legs.
My son is tall and the poncho goes almost down to his knees so when he sits , it will cover him nicely.
Today he even put on his neck warmer.
Gosh, these guys must both be cold.

I guess you can also have a game of checkers or chess on these squares too.
and you can also use it as a Halloween costume if you want to represent someone from the Queens' court
in the Alice in Wonderland story. lol
It is great to wear when sitting on the beach where the wind is cooler and makes for a great cover if you have to change to go home.
My son has been going to the beach a lot lately so I guess this is why he likes them. They are quick and easy to put on and wear.
So there it is for you guys to see.

Here is a  potato recipe from Peru. I like how it uses evaporated milk and lime juice.
I am beginning to use more and more of lemon lime and soy as salt substitutes.
In fact salt is beginning not to taste as good anymore.

4 medium Russett potatoes
8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled (about 2 cups)
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon seeded and finely chopped jarred aji amarillo peppers or fresh habanero
1 garlic clove, finely minced
1/2 lime, juiced
Salt
4 large lettuce leaves (such as Bibb or romaine)
3 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and sliced
10 black olives pitted and sliced (Kalamata or Botija Peruvian olives)
2 tablespoons freshly chopped flat-leaf parsley
Directions
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook for 30 minutes or until a paring knife slides into the potatoes without any resistance. Drain the potatoes and let them cool slightly. Slice the potatoes into 1/2-inch rounds and set aside.

Combine the cheese, evaporated milk, oil, chile, garlic, and the lime juice in a blender and puree until smooth. The sauce should be creamy and pourable. If the sauce is too thick, add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the sauce is thinned out.

Arrange the lettuce leaves on a platter and top with the sliced potatoes. Pour the sauce over the potatoes. Garnish with slices of hard boiled egg and olives. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Note: A great substitute in this recipe, for feta cheese is cream cheese.

I saw Anthony Bourdain eat something like this in a restaurant and he seemed to love it.

There comes a time in a persons life when your age group consists of nothing but pain and suffering.
Every one is sick and the new game in town is to compete against other people who are sick.lol

|It becomes a game of I am sicker than you are and I have more pain than you do and I take more pills than you do and I am more deaf than you are and sometimes...........
 it makes a person feel good to win.lol Even when you have to suffer pain, you can lighten the load by turning it into something else and people always do.

People try to do more than they can, to show they are young and then depress every one around them by telling them everything they've done, plus the pain and suffering they are now in.
It leaves you speechless cause you never know how to make things better for them.

Telling them to slow down so they don't suffer with theirex: joint pain, is quite the wrong thing to say because then you are put into the antisocial arena and no one wants to be a part of that.

Growing old is a pain in the ass but never the less, we all do.
I have problems with my knees but I prefer to slow down rather  than to sit on drugs and to push myself
till I am in agony and then burden people with tears of woe and sorrow and self pity saying it is Gods' plan for me to suffer and this is what we are born for.
I don't think this is what God is about.
It's enough I am burdened with the ailment. So I try to do things that I can, when I can and know my limits
while enjoying nice stories from people who still do the things I love doing and see it through their eyes.

Then you go to the store and  strangers stop by you at the cash line up, asking if you know how long menopause lasts and what are the symptoms and what they should do about it. lol
They walk away and then come back to ask
if there is anything wrong with the symptoms they have and the long list is verbally provided.
Kinda shocks you.

|I must look menopausal if they stop to ask and maybe the blood pressure does rise a little when they don't go away and everyone stands looking at you,  also waiting for the answer. lol

I think maybe I should say something nice like: You with these kind of problems? Honey you look wonderful! but then it wouldn't stop the conversation and she would just go on.

You try to explain that each case is different and they should go to the doctor and they can obviously see you are not one.
But they go on and on like what you see Hyacinth doing on Keeping Up Appearances, totally self absorbed.
She always makes me laugh.
I guess this is when you really begin to suspect that age is creeping up on you and there is no point explaining to people that you are only 23 and wouldn't know anything about menapause. lol
They take it seriously and say they don't believe you but then they say you must be 45 and
you smile.

How ever did you guess? lol

Human Nature

These are the other flowers about to bloom . A lovely solid red.
 It is so dense inside there and hard to weed since the soil is rock hard
I have no idea how I am going to do it short of using a digger and this will pull out all the flowers with their roots as well..

As they say, it is human nature to think wisely and to act in an absurd fashion.

It suddenly dawns on me that I have the power to keep or kill tradition.
Like these flowers which took years to drop seeds and mass produce and root deep and yet man
can up root and destroy this longevity with one swoop of a diggers' blade.

And so with life and daily bread and family and love and country.

One swoop of ideas, a death, and it's all gone.

And yet, in forgotten places between the rocks and weeds and dry cracked soil, an odd thing happens.

Enlightenment. Revival. Rebirth.

A single flower protrudes its' head towards the sun.

It survives and goes beyond tradition into the realm of discovery and beauty to again be cherished and nurtured by new life, surrounded by wonder.

If not touched by human hands, it may survive to see another hour, another day, another millenium
and maybe even saved to travel to alien lands and planets, to become a new story, within new traditions.

As it is human nature to think wisely, humans do not decide what will be.

What we find wonderful and divine, is a left over from times past, acting in an absurd fashion, through its' shear will to survive.

We have the power to kill tradition but tradition will outlive us, after we have long passed.

Hmm.

Royal Bloom

These are the beautiful flowers which bloomed in my yard.
Deep and Royal looking and with a yellow dandelion which
decided to pop up with them.
lol
They seem to be spreading everywhere so I am thinking to dig the ones outside
 the box and putting them into a pot.
It was very cool last night to sleep and the day was not very hot. Kinda cloudy and we
 had a bit of a sprinkle in the morning.

In the afternoon we went out and I finally found the colors I needed to continue my afghan.
My son told me today he loves his poncho and he wants more of them.
 So I said ok and now the afghan has a neck hole lol
Now I just need to let it get longer for the back and I will have two ponchos.
One is blue and one will be checkered.
These are good to wear all year round. Like at night in summer, it keeps the mosquitoes off and the dampness and in the fall and winter you wear it over your jacket to cut the wind and keep your hands warm
under neath. Unlike wraps, these are good for men to wear.
If you have soccer kids and have to sit on cold benches, they are long enough to cover your back
with a piece to sit on and in the front they cover your knees and keep them warm too.
Even kids can wear them if they have to sit on the bench waiting for their turn to play.
I am glad my son likes them They even go well with a neck warmer which can be worn like a turtle neck till you need it to cover your head.
I will have to make enough of them so my husband has a chance to wear one as well. He is another guy who never thinks about the cold until he is standing and freezing outside. In the car they can be used to keep the legs warm as a blanket and then you can wear them.

I always think about cold weather especially today when it is so unpredictable.

Here's Marvin!!!

If you think Maxine is a hoot, wait till you get to meet Marvin, her husband.
They make a fine couple. lol

I love jokes that come out of life.

Today my husband was chasing the dog trying to wipe her butt.
He was at a loss and said I am trying but you have to clean her butt.
I told him he was doing fine, so why doesn't he finish the job?
He gave me the look....

This is why I am always the bad guy in this house.
When they see me coming, every one runs in different directions
including the animals lol

So I took my Tanya into the shower and gave her a good wash She needed it anyway.
She began to shake so I wrapped her into a clean dry towel and put that into a blanky and held her
till she stopped shaking and got toasty warm, enough to fall asleep.
Then I slowly began to clip her face and ears and chest etc.... working my way down her body.
I still have to trim her butt though. lol

She was good but then got tired of behaving. She is my baby now and I love her very much.

Dogs know. When ever they see scissors, they are off in another direction.
lol

This week end the other one also needs cleaning so hopefully it will stay hot so we can take a hose to him with soap and a brush to comb all the dead hair off.
Much easier to do all this outside than inside.
Big dogs are a different problem.
I rather they shake outside.

Miss World

We will not see this in the Miss World Competition this year held in an Islamic country.
They knew it was part of the program before applying to hold it there but I guess with ulterior motives.


They are offended they say, by nakedness and yet multiply in hoards not caring about world famine
or population explosion.

They go to free countries which separate church and state and yet their religion is not separated from the state of these countries which claim to separate religion from the state.
How is that?
We have helmet laws but not for Sikhs. Quebec is fighting this issue in soccer today as we did and failed.
We find it harder to find beans in lard, I know because I love beans with lard and have to instead buy beans in molasses.

If we have separation of church and state, then we should have separation of Islam and state too.
Yet this is not happening.

A little discrimination???? I'd say so. I'd say a lot.

A Date Anyone?

This is what looks like a small spider and he has a little worm he is feasting on.
For some reason the camera could not make an enlargement of him.
The worm  was squirming every time he touched it. We watched him go back and forth
trying to figure out how to deal with it.
I don't think this date is going well for the worm lol

Quinoa is the new craze today with the kids in sports, along with Acai juice.
Here is a recipe.

Quinoa/Date health bars

Prep time:  1 hour 10 mins

Total time:  1 hour 10 mins

Serves: 8

Ingredients

• ¼ cup cooked quinoa
• 6 dates
• 2 tablespoons tahini
• 2 tablespoons coconut oil
• ¼ cup almonds

Instructions

1. Puree the dates, almonds and quinoa in a food processor, pressing several times until you get a smooth paste.
2. Transfer to a bowl, and add coconut oil, and tahini. Mix well with a spoon or clean hands until everything is completely incorporated.
3. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
4. Wet your hands, take 2 tablespoons of the mixture, and form a bar. Place on a dish, and repeat with the rest.
5. Refrigerate for at least 2 more hours, and eat as desired. You can also put them in the freezer 2 hours before eating, for a firmer bar.
6. If you would like a more chocolatey taste, add as much cacao powder to the mixture, as you like.

Treasures

Garage cleaning has its' virtues because it gives away its' treasures.

I found a small box with two more pewter wine glasses
and two bowls made from white clay, that are so thin, you can almost see through them.
They have paintings of a rooster , a hen and green grass.
I also found salt and pepper shakers from Florida.

They are back in the box again waiting to be rediscovered lol
These are things you put into a display case.
Maybe one day I will do just that.

We had a wonderful hot week end just perfect to sweep up the garage and sift through things there.
I found my sewing basket with all the thread, needles etc... for sewing. I should add to it all my knitting and crochet stuff so everything is in one place and easier to find.
Took two days and most of it is done but still a few things left to do.

The big rat that came in and ate my chinchilla, left huge droppings.
My son saw a big rat, dead on the street, a few weeks later and since then, we don't see anything around the house but my chin paid the price. Now the dog looks for the chin and it's not there. They were friends.

We watch Anthony Bourdain on the food show called Parts Unknown.
He travels to places tourists don't usually go to.
Yesterday he went to Lima , Peru, which he says will be the next new great place to go, for good restaurant food. He went up into the hills to see the cacao plantations and ate at the homes of the people, who went out of their way to cook local food.
All around were little guinea pigs living free around the house where they ate. It was interesting to see.
They eat these guinea pigs as they do the chinchillas.

But the very new gourmet foods of the future will be insects.
 Anthony was seen crunching huge fried black ants. lol
Survivor man ate grubs he pulled out of trees in Australia which he said were very tasty.
They were white fat and juicy.  Certainly treasures for a hungry man. lol

So apart from the sun burn I got, we had a great week end.
