Scarf Head Band Hand Warmers

This was another easy project and took no time at all since the scarf is narrow.
The head band is not big either so everything took about a day to make.
Now I am all set to go out into the wild country. lol
I am thinking to maybe find some red fleecy material and sew it into the head band and the hand warmers to make it extra warm.
In BC you need to layer because if you don't , one minute it's cold and another it's hot.

As you can see I am making my own Christmas presents.

During the year I always buy things when I see them on special thinking they would be good for someone or other. I wrap them, put a name for who it is and put them away and by Christmas time I forget myself, what is inside the boxes.
When it comes time to open gifts, I am surprised, just as much as the kids ,who don't know what's inside their boxes.
It's as if I see them for the very first time and that it really was Santa who left them under the tree.

Talk about being kookie. lol

Every year we have the same conversation about whether or not Santa exists.
The kids tell me there is no Santa and I always feel bad because then I tell them well if you don't believe, he won't come.
He wants to be appreciated for his kindness and his special spirit.
Seeing they won't get gifts, the kids come around and change their minds into believing in Santa at Christmas.

I sure miss those times now that they are all grown up.

My favorite Christmas was when my parents put me to bed, did up the tree, put presents under it and then pretended to go to bed. They blasted the radio and I jumped a foot high into the air in my bed and we all came running into the hallway. My parents pretended to be mad at me for blasting the radio and I kept rubbing my eyes and telling them I didn't do it.

Then we'd discover the tree with the presents and the magic of Christmas filled the air.
My eyes grew big thinking Santa did an awful lot of work to put up such a gorgeous tree and presents just for me.
My parents were strict but they sure made a lot of special events for me to remember all my life and this was one of them. lol

Sometimes the movie
http://www.carygrant.net/reviews/room.html
Room for One More with Cary Grant , comes to mind , cause it is also about a family who went out of their way for their children.

It was a very touching movie. They had a growing daughter who needed a special dress for the school dance and after acquiring one, her escort was not allowed to go cause his Mom did not like the little girl being an orphan, so she went with her Dad.
The little boy they took in with the legs problem , worked very hard walking in metal braces, in freezing weather, to become the top Scout, made his parents very proud of him.

They don't make movies like that anymore and families have changed a lot too.

Well these are very special memories I carry with me and probably this is why I like to make things today . Hobbies are great things to have as learning tools.

Have a great day!

The Table

I think we are so lucky to have two Thanks givings to celebrate on the North American Continent.
To prepare a table as beautiful as some of these women have done, is in itself, a feast to the eyes.
People are blessed with imagination and enriched by color and self expression.

If every home was given daily thanks, the way we do on Thanks giving Day, then
every home would be a blessing to come home to.

A home is a cherished sacred place and not just real estate the way it is being treated today.
This is where people dig in and raise families, create stability and make memories.

Its not a place to be trashed by banks and lawyers and we as a nation, continent of people, must object to the creation of empty homes towns and cities because of some corporations counting dollars somewhere, not caring about the value of lives for whom this was all created for and which they are destroying.
This continent is about building, not foreclosing.

Especially during these hard times, an act of kindness goes a long way.

When you walk the road with an open heart,
no evil can touch you.
Your heart, is the Thanksgiving table
enriched by color, expressing the love
you want shared with the world.

Have a great Day!

Some awful Jokes.

A Greek and an Italian

A Greek and Italian were sitting in a Starbuck's one day discussing who had the superior culture. Over triple lattes the Greek guy says, "Well, we have the Parthenon." Arching his eyebrows, the Italian replies, "We have the Coliseum." The Greek retorts, "We Greeks gave birth to advanced mathematics." The Italian, nodding agreement, says, "But we built the Roman Empire." And so on and so on until the Greek comes up with what he thinks will end the discussion. With a flourish of finality he says, "We invented sex!" The Italian replies, "That is true, but it was the Italians who introduced it to women!"

Migrating to Australia

A Chinese man decides to retire and move to Australia after 50 years of living in Shanghai.

He bought a small piece of land . A few days after moving in, the friendly Aussie neighbor decides to go across and welcome the new guy to the region. He goes next door but on his way up the drive-way he sees the Chinese man running around his front yard chasing about 10 hens.
Not wanting to interrupt these 'Chinese customs', he decides to put the welcome on hold for the day.

The next day, he decides to try again, but just as he is about to knock on the front door, he looks through the window and sees the Chinese man urinate into a glass and then drink it. Not wanting to interrupt another 'Chinese custom', he decides to put the welcome on hold for yet another day.

A day later he decides to give it one last go, but on his way next door, he sees the Chinese man leading a bull down the driveway,...pause, ....and then put his left ear next to the bull's butt.

The Aussie bloke can't handle this, so he goes up to the Chinese man and says, 'Jeez Mate, what the hell is it with your Chinese customs?
I come over to welcome you to the neighborhood, and see you running around the yard after hens. The next day you are pissing in a glass and drinking it, and then today you have your head so close to that bull's butt, it could just about shit on you.'

The Chinese man is very taken back and says, 'Sorry sir, you no understand, these no ... Chinese customs I doing, these Australian Customs.
'What do you mean mate', says the Aussie, 'Those aren't Australian customs.'
'Yes they are; man at travel agent tell me', replied the Chinese man, 'He say to become a true Australian, I must learn to....chase chicks,
....get piss drunk, and....listen to bull-shit'!

quit eggin around

Reading young peoples blogs, I find them confusing Christianity with the world.
Many are disillusioned with God.
They say religion screws them up lol

I have to laugh because most of them do not know religion enough to make a statement like this.
Most do not realize it's not religion that screwed them up, but they themselves screwed themselves up.
Christian religion is only a guide to learn from.
Life decisions come from people.
Jesus was a shepherd and he is always pictured with lambs, who were always led astray and slaughtered.
His job was to protect and defend them by supplying them with tools of wisdom.
The tools were the scriptures he inspired the people of his time with.

A smart lamb stays in the middle of the flock for safety
The stray lamb usually finds death lurking behind it because predators are many.

This is just a fact of life.
No mystery or threat there.
Jesus was about family and this week end being Thanks giving in Canada
is a good week end to discuss what family is.

Kids often ask, if we are Christian, are we separated from the world?
The world is sinful.
The world is lost.
The world lacks guidance.
The world lacks leaders.
The world rejects God.
Yes, all of the above is true.
A Christian, is very much a part of the world because it is Christs' wisdom they
impart to it.
But it takes time to develop a Christian.
It takes time to raise a Christian through love.
Jesus taught about love of family.
For what is more sacred than the love between a Mother a Father and a child?
Family is sacred.
Before throwing your family away, one has to understand
by doing this, you throw yourself away.
You take yourself out of the circle of safety promise and love and become a stray.
It's an old story but it never changes
Can a lamb survive amongst wolves?
No
He needs a hand of God to save him by pulling him away.
A Christian is this hand of God working towards a better good.
A Christian tries to empower another with words of his wisdom.
What the other does with this wisdom
is up to him.
But he has a chance to reflect before leaving and straying again.

This is what parents do.
They become the arch enemy because they say the word no.
But if they didn't care, why would they bother?
Parents are not perfect but they do care and they always want their kids to be better.
So they work harder to try to make it so.
And if one day the lambs make it to educated maturity
they will realize why they made it.
They made it because a Mother and Father gave up their freedom for them.
They struggled to raise a family
And when the world showed up at their door to tell them to
stop eggin around.....
They said

NO.

Happy Thanks Giving!

Have a Blessed Day Canada.
