A Word is Not a Word.

Apart from his scary mustache, and his "Frasier"high forehead,

Nietzsche has always fascinated me.

He had so many things to say and from him I learned words like

philology

Philology means the study of literary texts of written records and to establish their authenticity, their original form and to determine their true meaning from history.

I often find lots of meaning is lost in interpretation and am often surprised people do not see this.

You can find the soul in words, in the way they are written and put together in a sentence but once you change the words, you change the soul and it disappears, never to venture forth again to touch the new readers who come across an authors' work.

For Halloween

On witches, Nietzsche has this quote:

The most acute judges of witches and even witches themselves, were convinced of the guilt

of witchery. The guilt was non existent. It is thus with all guilt.

When you gaze into an abyss, the abyss gazes back at you.

The surest way to corrupt youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike from those who think differently.

There are no facts, only

interpretations.

Today youth can find info quite easily over the net as opposed to my time when everything had to be researched in books and the right books read to research from, had to be found.

To do research, people had to be fluent in other languages like Greek, Latin, Aramaic etc...

Today you click and the word is translated for you. In fact whole passages are translated making it so much easier to find answers to questions.

I remember one teacher telling us kids, he did not want our opinions in essays.
In essays he searched for the research we did, on other learned peoples' findings.

He changed my way of trying to do things when writing papers because I thought this was what all teachers wanted to see.

Of course, they didn't.

Other teachers were interested in what other people, students thought and they wanted to see a thinking process taking place in essays. It is only in this way that growth can take place even for the teacher.

Everyones' interpretation of a piece of work is different.

Even the translations are different. Thus the

meanings are different.

And so Nietzsche comes back over and over again into my life.

And here he is again for Halloween.

Nietzsche's Loss of Hope

I always had a problem with Nietzsche. I found him highly disturbing. I believed for a long time that the man out thought himself to conclude that there was no purpose to life. It ended in death and since there was no after life....
It was said he saw no purpose for existence and so committed suicide. Being so sure, he saw HOPE did not exist.

It doesn't seem that he married but he did get syphilis so must be, he did get it from someone, some where, at some time lol

He did not die of suicide but went mad and got pneumonia, both side effects of Syphilis.

We could say that syphilis, was a slow form of suicide.
People doing things on purpose, knowing the risks they were taking, are reckless and uncaring about life, to put themselves into situations, of this slow form of death.
Slow suicide or attempt at suicide as we know it, is against the law.
This brings to mind drug addicts and what they are doing and what we are doing to stop it.

It is logical to assume that cerebral people live within their heads and so have little use for
sex or other social activities.
They must be very lonely in not being able to find many who they can actually have an intelligent conversation with.
The world to them must seem crude and it takes a strong person to be able to go down to the level of normal folk and enjoy them unless it is for a study. Maybe this is why we enjoy babies so much. We love them and study them and go back in time with them.

Maybe this is also why psychiatrists always tell people they need time for play so they can get away from cerebral thinking or risk going mad.

Children, from day one are taught to be idealists by learning right from wrong.
As they grow older into young men and women, they find out that there is no such thing.
The world becomes gray as right and wrong blend in together.
My son came home and told me of his friend getting an A in a test his teacher gave, for writing two words in an essay, on the existence of a chair. He wrote: "What Chair?"

I explained that if you look at something too close or too far away, it disappears from view. It
doesn't mean that it isn't there.

The problem with Nietzsche is that he worked within a mind with limits.
He was right in his use of the word "Overman", a being superior to man, who would one day take over as we did the Neanderthal man.

Today man discovered DNA and wants to recreate the dinosaur and Neanderthal man and maybe the Over man would want to do the same and maybe so would God.

The fact remains that we will never be perfect, idealistic, have knowledge of truth, be wise, intelligent, or know more about existence than what we know today.

We will never know about the existence or non existence of God either unless he chooses to reveal himself to us.

What God does do, is stop people from doing what Nietzsche did. Nietzsche got lost and more importantly, he lost his hope in life. Mankind and man died within him. He made a cruel judgement decision leaving no room for reasonable doubt and reasonable doubt did exist in his time, for him, as it does for many people today. He just did not see it.

Belief in God, offers man hope . Man asks God to relate to man, when in search of mercy.
Faith in God, leaves man with a future and therefore a purpose for his existence.

By letting go, we free ourselves of the burden of death because God, offers us everlasting life and all the answers to be begot, through him but this does not include suicide because only God has the right to decide when man dies. This is why the 10 commandments includes Thou shalt not kill.

God is not limited as we are. He might be the Overman that maybe
Nietzsche was talking about. Nietzsche meant the Overman to be a superior being, as we are to the Neanderthal .
Nietzsche was trying to find truth, instead of letting go and allowing truth to find him, as eventually, it would have.

Man tries to prove God does not exist but he never will be able to prove it. We are lost in that little piece of space whereby the microscope is either too close or the telescope, too far
away to see, what is significant for us to see or find because we do not see we are part and parcel of the same fabric with different designs. lol

Man using words such as truth, trust, faith, hope, love, honor, would have hope in becoming better people or living better lives.
Life becomes less heavy when you have a brother in another man, to help you.

It would have made the quality of Nietzsches' life much better I am sure to have faith in something his senses could not disclose to him.
He would have come out of his mind and joined a life worth living.
