Big Mama Conch

Posted by Picasa

This Dinosaur Conch was a picture I found from our travels to Malaysia a long time ago.
I have not seen many people eating them so maybe this is why they grow to such monstrosities.

The conch throughout history, was eaten in salads or cooked as fritters.
They could be found in chowders, gumbos, soups, curry, soaked in soy vinegar lemon and hot peppers.

They were served as cocktails made with onion, tomato, cilantro, lemon juice,
or marinated in orange juice.

They were used as wind instruments in religions and in the book Lord of the Flies.

People made cameos out of them and they were also used as building material and in landfills.
The sharp jagged edges made them great to put in fences to keep people from climbing them.
Some used them as tools to cut things and for self defense.

This Queen of shells was so popular for so many reasons, it has become, like everything else coming in contact with man, very rare and precious .

As for the big Mama Conch in the picture........ wishful thinking....it's a fake.

People are individuals.

The only time you can say people are social, are in history books where it is written that people fight together in wars, walk together in parades,
sing together in rock and roll band parks,
pray together in a mosque or temple or church, and study together in schools,
But this is where it stops.

When you see a whole bunch of cars driving on city streets, you are not looking at social people.

You are looking at individuals and this makes all the difference.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A person behind the wheel of a car holds, the wheel in a 10 and 2 position and stares straight ahead.

They don’t have necks that turn.

The vision is limited to what is ahead.

There is no left, no right, even when they turn on a corner.

They fail to make eye contact with either a pedestrian or another car because this would mean they would lose their right of way.

Why would they give you, right of way?

You do not need a right of way.

They are on the street behind the wheel and they are the most important driver out there.

What’s more, they wear the biggest of glasses to make sure you can see their huge eyes are not looking at you, thanks to the huge thick lenses

So looking into their eyes, you can tell that even if the law says you have right of way….. you don’t.
I often wonder what would happen if two such thick lensed, big eyed people, ever met on a street corner.
One would have to be driving faster than the other one to avoid a collision and a lot of God’s help would be required since the Devil would find it
amusing to have them crash.

Driving is not a social activity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ICBC shows people driving under the influence of drugs.

The car becomes a Mattel toy in their hands and nano technology has improved to a tremendous degree because this car requires no steering.
It is equipped with impressive high speed, intelligence to know where to drive and howto avoid accidents.

This is where the “no such thing as an accident” ICBC teaches applies. I mean how could there be such a thing as an accident when there is an individual driving a high tech car that does all the thinking?
I mean if the car doesn’t think then On Starr can control it from its' satellite.

This certainly gives one lots of time to drink, smoke, pot up,
talk on the phone, watch tv ,play the drums and even do the Michael Jackson Moon walk on the front windows to the swing of the wind shield wipers.

Its all individual, because where one can do it, the other can’t.

The third type of individual that drives is the star struck one.
You know, the ones whose head is in the clouds.
Whatever they are thinking about, it certainly is not about driving
It might be about the fight they had last night, or the love they made last night or the break up they are planning or
What is that guy/gal thinking about me right now. or Gosh I need a smoke sooo bad Where are my patches?

Or they are pretending to be tough ol 50 cent or sexy Tiger woods…….playing golf?

Mercedes sits with her lipstick and mirror.

The Avenger, with the beady eyes, looks to sneak up on your ass.

The Hummer, sitting comfy, low keyed, full of himself, hums, singing like a slow engine , in very low key Baby…. Baby.........

Kia , sitting between them somewhere, is twittering away and the Rabbit lover turbos between them all.

Another type of individual takes on their car features. These people are similar to people who buy Bobbsey Twin Dogs.

Can you imagine dog, owner and car look alikes?

Get this

MUSTANG! With a horse faced owner and an English bull terrier
or
a Dodge RAM sitting with and old guy with waxed hair around his ears and poodle to match.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is just a small sample of the individuals that are out there driving on the streets, behind wheels of cars.

The Rest of us, untalented, having no life, people on the road,

who spend most of our time watching them,in fear for our lives,

are individuals too and I must say, without bias, the best of the bunch.

We fit into both the individual arena and the social arena.

We are somewhere in between the Dr Jekylls and the Mr Hydes,

In between the Rams, the Kias and the Hummers.

We are the Volvos and the Vans and the Station wagons

But wait. It’s not that simple.

We can camouflage, by souping them up and when we put on them dark glasses……

Watch Out.... Mama's on the loose.

No Miracles

Posted by Picasa

French movies are very different from what we watch here in North America. They seem to be closer to the essence of what real life is.

Like today, I watched a movie with subtitles about a man who woke up from a coma and found he was paralyzed from the neck down.
They even sewed up one eye because it wouldn’t tear and they wanted to save it.

He could not talk, so he had to blink for “yes” or “ no”, to communicate.

It was a hard battle for him to relearn how to talk let alone write a book blinking one letter at a time.

He had a family who would come visit and take him on outings with him. He'd watch his two children play and entertain him because he was Dad.

The movie was about his thoughts because he now saw that although his life was loose and immoral, with lots of wine, women and song, it was only the mother of his children and the children who valued him, when others laughed and
mimicked his seemingly vegetative state.

It reminded me of a book we read in High school : Johnny Got his Gun but this young soldier woke up with no arms legs hearing or face. The only way he could communicate was through head banging for “yes” and “no” .

Neither story is a life one wants to live.

To be imprisoned in your head is not an ideal one longs for... and yet, we are all in our heads.

In the end he began to believe that this was just a dream, that he was still in a coma and would one day wake up and live a normal life.

This belief gave him hope and a desire to live, even if it was in his head.
He was able to enjoy life and laugh at people, their silliness and awkwardness as they struggled to make it..... life...... work for them selves.

He could see himself in them, except now he was above it all. He reached a state of higher maturity and understanding. Things which mattered, didn’t matter anymore.
He had lots to fall back on and relate to.

He was able to finally find a little joy in his state of affairs.

I believe eventually Parkinson’s patients must end up this way as well, once their nervous system gives out and fails to send messages to other parts of their body.
I knew this was the case with my Mom.

But as long as there is hope, then I guess everything is bearable.

While I was watching this French movie, multi tasking, I came across a story about the Virgin Mary and people on the net, scoffing at her virginity .

The French movie came to a portion whereby the Wife took this paralyzed man to church where miracles had been witnessed.

He, himself, was not a religious man but had nothing to say in the matter and so the wife spoke for him to the priest. He got his communion and a prayer for a miracle.

No one wants to believe Mary producing a virgin birth because it would definitely be classified as a miracle and yet in life, miracles happen everyday.

Doctors perform surgery with hands guided by nothing short of Gods will. Cancers cure by themselves.
We all have cancer but it takes a strong immune system to keep it under control. Miracle?

The blind see. The deaf hear. Accidents are prevented. Bombs don’t explode. The premature continue to grow and strengthen. Goals are scored miraculously without hindsight. The win is either yours or it isn't. It's already written up for you beforehand.

There are so many stories that have no explanation except that they all must be a result of God’s will.

Incurable diseases get cured.

It’s as if there is such a thing as mind over matter.

Say no to Satan and he will leave your body and make it whole again.

Say yes to God and he will fill your mind with strength to beat the most horrible of all odds.

He will regenerate what seemed to be lost forever.

I don’t know but today seemed to be a day of miracles for me. The way things fell into place so I could sit down, understanding it and write about it.

What people do not seem to understand, is that even with all your faculties in order, people fail to communicate. To communicate requires understanding.

Not understanding and failing to communicate, leads to other problems our society seems to be suffering in. Wars, immorality, hunger, sickness etc.....all of our problems stem from not being able to understand or communicate.

To be able to communicate, with or without all your faculties, is indeed a miracle.
Does it take a paralyzed person to see this or perhaps .....the innocent?
Then why are we lost, with all the knowledge we obtain from life and living?

Something to think about.

Cholo and Friend

Last year a little raccoon fell from my roof into the gutter .
I rescued him, fed him washed him and he was beginning to become a family member until we had a soccer trip to go to
in Hawaii.
It was a great trip. Our kids stayed at the University of Hawaii where we got apts for very cheap, with kitchens two bedrooms and one bathroom. For parking I think we paid 20 dollars for 7 days. I don't remember now.
I believe Hawaii had another great asset for seniors. They could ride the bus anywhere, all day for free.

We had Cafeteria coupons we had to buy where we got three meals for 20 dollars a day,
All you can eat and they were fabulous.
It wasn't the Ritz but for what we needed it for, it was great.
For families on a very strict budget this could be something to look at but they are not always available in summer due to conferences, so one has to preplan ahead.

Anyway, this left Cholo alone and my husband put his cage outside during the day. He came home one day and saw Cholo's Mom.
He opened the cage and said he saw a wonderful reunion between Mother and son/daughter (who could tell). She gave him heck, kissed him and walked off with him.
A happy ending????

I thought this would be the end of my raccoon problem but it was not to be.
Cholo went back into my roof and it seems he fell again and broke his paw.

When I feed my cats, Cholo and his sibling wait for a chance to come upstairs and get a bit themselves.
The cats rush to eat and what they don't eat, Cholo and his friend finish.

My son took a rare picture of Cholo here.

I have to believe it was him because when he saw me he wanted to come into my arms and into the house.
He was very forward and normally wild animals don;t behave this way.
Having a broken paw, which is healed I guess but useless, makes it hard for him to obtain food.

It makes me happy he is still alive but I am not happy he still lives here. lol
Maybe this summer we can get re aquainted slowly and I can take him away somewhere where he might be able to survive on his own.

I am not looking forward to this as he has big teeth now lol and he is a wild animal after all.
My son Alex befriended a wolf through patience and kindness and ..........food.
It ended well because he was tame and domesticated.
He was reunited with his family.
I wouldn't try this with coyotees though because they are totally different.

Life. Everything wants to live. Everything wants food, warmth and companionship.... even animals.
You look into their eyes and think geez......what am I to do with you?

Extreeeme Danger.

Posted by Picasa

Here's the story:

Tired of constantly being broke and stuck in an unhappy marriage, a young husband decided to solve both problems by taking out a large insurance policy on his wife with himself as the beneficiary, and then arranging to have her killed.

A 'friend of a friend' put him in touch with a nefarious dark-side underworld figure who went by the name of 'Artie.'
Artie then explained to the husband that his going price for snuffing out a spouse was $5,000.

The husband said he was willing to pay that amount, but that he wouldn't have any cash on hand until he could collect his wife's insurance money.

Artie insisted on being paid at least something up front, so the man opened his wallet, displaying the single dollar bill that rested inside. Artie sighed, rolled his eyes, and reluctantly agreed to accept the dollar as down payment for the dirty deed..

A few days later, Artie followed the man's wife to the local Super Wal-Mart store. There, he surprised her in the produce department & proceeded to strangle her with his gloved hands as the poor unsuspecting woman drew her last breath & slumped to the floor.

The manager of the produce department stumbled unexpectedly onto the murder scene. Unwilling to leave any living witnesses behind, ol' Artie had no choice but to strangle the produce manager as well.

However, unknown to Artie, the entire proceedings were captured by the hidden security cameras and observed by the store's security guard, who immediately called the police. Artie was caught and arrested before he could even leave the store.

Under intense questioning at the police station, Artie revealed the whole sordid plan, including his unusual financial arrangements with the hapless husband who was also quickly arrested.

The next day in the newspaper, the headline declared ...

ARTIE CHOKES 2 for $1.00 AT WAL-MART!'

WE ARE CANADIANS

Posted by Picasa

Well said by someone who knows Canadians.

So We're Not Perfect!
February 19, 2010

Do you believe?

We never claimed to be perfect,
That means we’ve learned to be humble.
We say excuse me and I'm sorry…as well as please and thanks,
Even when its not our fault we apologize.
Sure one arm of the torch didn't rise,
But when the earthquake struck Haiti, Canadians raised their hands to say…”We’ll help.”
And yah, there is a fence around the torch,
But you can walk right up and shake hands with our prime minister and most famous Canadians.
We put Gretzky in the back of a pick up, in the rain, not surrounded by police…and he was okay,
And by the way... the great one is Canadian…and HE wasn’t complaining!
We do have security at the games, of course, but most people don't even have a gun they have to leave at home.
The medals ARE under lock and key, but our doors and our hearts are open to the world.
It has been pointed out that some buses broke down last week…they came up from California and couldn't handle our steep hills, but let’s not overlook the fact that our banking system didn't break down.
We didn't get the "green ice maker" right this time…but we will, eventually,
Just like we did when we invented the zamboni.
Citius altius fortius
If you don't reach higher how do you get faster and stronger?
Was the first quad jump perfect?
Should we not have given snowboarding to the world "in case" it didn’t take off?
So big deal…one out of four torch arms didn't rise. Good thing we had three more! It’s called contingency planning!
But remember…the Canadarm works every time…in outerspace…and insulin turned out to be okay.
We couldn't change the weather, but maybe we can help to stop global warming.
We don't have the tax base of the US or the power of the Chinese but, per capita, we ponied up for some pretty kick-ass venues in the worst global recession ever.
Sure, some folks couldn't afford tickets, but our health care is universal.
We have shown the world that we can raise our voices in celebration and song, but moments later stand in silence to respect a tragic event...together...spontaneously…and unrehearsed.
What's more, we don't need permission from anyone to have a slam poet, fiddlers with piercings and a lesbian singer tell our story to the world while our multilingual female haitian-born, black head of state shares a box with her first nations equals.
We’ve shown the world that it doesn’t always rain in Vancouver, that you can strive for excellence, but not get hung up on perfection.
And we’ve learned what it feels like to be picked on by some no-name English newspaper guy and we don’t have to take it lying down!
So the point is not the snow, or the hydraulics or a couple guys being 5 minutes late to a ceremony,
We know we’re lucky that these are the biggest problems we've had to deal with in the last couple weeks.
So take your cheap shots…Guardian newspaper and cynics of the world,
We're bigger and better than that.
What's more we're finally starting to believe it!

The second kid said," I'm in here to get my tonsils out and I'm a little nervous."
The first kid said," You've got nothing to worry about, I had that done to me once. They put you to sleep and when you wake up they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream. It's a piece of cake!"
The second kid then asked, "What are you in here for?"

"That's amazing," the woman said. "How old are you?"
"Twenty-six," he said.

Crosses

Posted by Picasa

There is an interesting story about a husband and wife driving down a highway.
The wife saw the husband looking past her into the woods .
A tear came down his cheek.

She wanted to know why he was crying.

He told her he remembered what his Dad, who passed away now,
told him a long time ago about Pine trees.
He was 8 years old, it was spring and they went fishing.

His Dad said Pine trees know when it's Easter.

Two weeks before Easter, the new shoots begin to grow.
The tallest shoot will branch off and form a cross just weeks before Easter.

It was one week before Easter .
The wife looked out the window and saw what her husband saw.

The spruce trees were full of yellow shoots and they were
full of crosses.

It is amazing what effect parents have on their children.
A small thing a parent tells a child, stays with him and
memories emerge when least expected.

Crosses you bear and pass in life's journey appear everywhere and cannot be escaped.

It brought the husband and wife closer, to share an intimate moment from the past,
that will repeat over and over again every Easter, no matter what a country's political
agenda is.

the Pope and Tiger Woods

Posted by Picasa
The Pope and Tiger Woods died on the same day and, because of an
administrative mix up, the Pope went to hell and Tiger Woods went to
heaven. The Pope explains the situation to the administrative clerk in hell, and
after checking the paperwork admits that there is an error.

"However", the clerk explains, "it would be 24 hours before it can be
rectified". Next day the Pope is called and Hell's staff bids him farewell.
On the way up, the Pope meets Tiger Woods coming down from heaven
and they stop to have a chat.

"Sorry about the mix up", apologies the Pope
"No problem" replied Tiger Woods
Pope: "I am really anxious to get to heaven"
Tiger: "Why is that?"
Pope: "All my life I have wanted to meet the Virgin Mary"
Tiger: "You're a day late"

GO CANADA GO OLYMPICS 2010

The opening ceremonies in Vancouver , BC was nothing short of spectacular!!

It made me proud to be a Canadian.

It was not an easy feat to accomplish but Canadians pulled it together, for the great Athletes, the world is so proud of.
Young men and women, who worked hard to achieve something good enough,
to present to the world.

Our sons and daughters competing, strong, determined, happy,
setting examples for the world to follow.

My heart is full and all I can say is

GOD BLESS CANADA and GO CANADA GO!!!!!

At a glance it's easy to understand that nothing in life is impossible.
You need to dig in and work towards your successes in life.
You cannot fail, unless you stop trying.

On February 12th the clouds in Vancouver skies formed the Olympic circles of peace.

It was awesome!!!

Don't Mind If I Do

Now I can't see anything better than sitting down and putting your feet up.
Of course not that high up but
just enough to get the blood flowin to where it belongs. lol

The rest is easy enough,
a good fishin book, a nudge of brandy and a hat to keep the sun off outta your eyes.

Life is GOOOD!

Walking can add minutes to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old
to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing
home at $7000 per month.

My mother in law started walking
five miles a day when she was 80.
Now she's 81 years old
and we don't know where the hell she is.

I like long walks,
especially when they are taken
by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking
is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning,
before my brain figures out what I'm doing..

I joined a health club last year,
spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise',
I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

I do have flabby thighs,
but fortunately my stomach covers them.

The advantage of exercising every day
is so when you die, they'll say,
'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing,
start with a small country.

I know I got a lot of exercise
the last few years,......
just getting over the hill.

We all get heavier as we get older,
because there's a lot more information in our heads.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Every time I start thinking too much
about how I look,
I just find a Happy Hour place;
and by the time I leave,
I look just fine.

You could run this over to your friends
But just e-mail it to them instead!

FEBRUARY 11 !

Happy Birthday on Sax

I remember February 11th When I gave birth to my sweet little bald eagle.
He came fast once he decided to come.

It was the coldest day of the year and I had him bundled up so well, afraid he would breath the extremely cold air outside and catch his death.

The streets were covered in snow and ice.
The day was glum, misty, threatening to get worse.

The expression in the eyes of my little boy was that of anger.
He was angry to be born . Angry to be torn away from his warm dark place
where he could hear everything from the safety of a warm womb.
The freezing temperatures outside on Montreal streets were uninviting.

I was afraid I would bundle him too much and he would suffocate before we got home.
Both Mom and Babe had much to learn from and about each other.

But the bond was made and neither could get enough of the other.
And so time flew,
days flew,
years flew,
and now he flew away too
to begin a new life.

February 11th, my life changed and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

What precious gifts God gives us to learn from, love and enjoy.
Today my baby has his own baby and I hope he enjoys her as much as I enjoyed raising him.

His hair grew, into lovely golden curly locks I hated to cut.
He was my hearts delight to watch and to play with.

So I wish my darling son a very Happy Birthday.
May all his wishes come true.
and may he live a long and prosperous life

Leaf Whisper of Hope.

Posted by Picasa

An Indian tracker took some pioneers through the plains in the mid-1800's.
Suddenly he stopped and pointed. "Bear have babies." He said.

One of the younger pioneers ran up and asked, "How'd you know that!?."

"I know these things," replied the Indian.

They continued their journey, and a little while later the Indian stopped, pointed, and said:
"Deer tracks."

"How'd you know that!?" asked the young pioneer once again.

"I know these things."

After another hour of journeying, the Indian jumped of his horse and put his ear to the ground. "Buffalo come."

"How'd you know that!?"

"Ear wet."

Orange (of course!)

What do you mean, you failed?!!

Me, too...!!!

( And if you try to tell me you passed, you lie! )

Pass this on to some "brilliant" friends, so that they may feel
useless too!

"Anyone with needs to be prayed over, come forward, to the front at the altar,"the Preacher says.

Leroy gets in line, and when it's his turn, the preacher asks: "Leroy, what do you want me to pray about for you."

Leroy replies: "Preacher, I need you to pray for my hearing."

The preacher puts one finger in Leroy's ear, and he places the other hand on top of Leroy's head and prays and prays and prays, he prays a blue streak for Leroy.

After a few minutes, the Preacher removes his hands, stands back and asks, "Leroy, how is your hearing now?"

Leroy says, "I don't know, Reverend, it ain't til next Wednesday!"

AHH! TO BE YOUNG AGAIN!!! :)

The family wheeled Grandma out onto the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn't speak very well, but she could write notes when she needed to communicate. After a short time out on the lawn, Grandma started leaning off to the right, so some family members grabbed her, straightened her up, and stuffed pillows on her right. A short time later, she started leaning off to the left, so again, the family grabbed her and stuffed pillows on her left. Soon, she started leaning forward, so the family members again grabbed her, then tied a pillowcase around her waist to hold her up. A nephew who arrived late came running up to Grandma and said, "Hi, Grandma, you're looking good! How are they treating you?" Grandma took out her little notepad and slowly wrote a note to the nephew, "They won't let me fart."

A couple had been married for 50 years. They were sitting at the breakfast table one morning when the old gentleman said to his wife, "Just think, honey, we've been married for 50 years." "Yeah," she replied, "50 years ago we were sitting here at this breakfast table together." "I know," the old man said, "We were probably sitting here naked as jaybirds!" "Well..." his wife snickered, "What do you say ... should we get naked?" The old man nodded, and the two of them took all their clothes off and sat back down at the table. "You know, honey," the old lady whispered breathlessly, "My nipples are as hot for you today as they were 50 years ago." "I wouldn't be surprised," replied her husband. "One's in your coffee and the other's in your oatmeal!"

The local senior citizen care center has begun giving Viagra to the old men each night. It seems it keeps them from rolling out of bed.

· Three old ladies named Gertrude, Maude, and Tilly were sitting on a park bench having a quiet conversation when a flasher approached from across the park. He came up to the ladies, stood right in front of them, and opened his trench coat. Gertrude immediately had a stroke. Then Maude also had a stroke. But Tilly, being older and more feeble, couldn’t reach that far.

· A man decides to have a facelift for his birthday. He spends $5,000 and feels really good about the results. On his way home, he stops at a news stand and buys a paper. Before leaving, he says to the sales clerk, "I hope you don't mind me asking, but how old do you think I am?" "About 35," was the reply. "I'm actually 47," the man says, feeling really happy. After that, he goes into McDonald's for lunch and asks the clerk the same question. The reply is, "Oh, you look about 29". "I'm actually 47." Later, while standing at a bus stop, he asks an old woman the same question. She replies, "I'm 85 years old, and my eyesight is going. But when I was young, there was a sure way of telling a man's age. If I put my hand down your pants and play with your balls for 10 minutes, I will be able to tell you your exact age." As there was no one around, the man thinks, what the hell and lets her slip her hand down his pants. Ten minutes later, the old lady says, "Okay, it's done. You are 47." Stunned, the man says, "That was brilliant. How did you do that?" The old lady replies, "I was behind you at McDonald's."

BECAUSE

BECAUSE OF TRUE LOVE

A brother and sister had made their usual hurried, obligatory pre- Christmas visit to the little farm where dwelt their elderly parents with their small herd of horses. The farm was where they had grown up and had been named Lone Pine Farm because of the huge pine, which topped the hill behind the farm.

Through the years the tree had become a talisman to the old man and his wife, and a landmark in the countryside. The young siblings had fond memories of their childhood here, but the city hustle and bustle added more excitement to their lives, and called them away to a different life.

The old folks no longer showed their horses, for the years had taken their toll, and getting out to the barn on those frosty mornings was getting harder, but it gave them a reason to get up in the mornings and a reason to live. They sold a few foals each year, and the horses were their reason for joy in the morning and contentment at day's end.

Angry, as they prepared to leave, the young couple confronted the old folks "Why do you not at least dispose of The Old One." She is no longer of use to you. It's been years since you've had foals from her. You should cut corners and save so you can have more for yourselves. How can this old worn out horse bring you anything but expense and work? Why do you keep her anyway?"

The old man looked down at his worn boots, holes in the toes, scuffed at the barn floor and replied, " Yes, I could use a pair of new boots. His arm slid defensively about the Old One's neck as he drew her near with gentle caressing he rubbed her softly behind her ears. He replied softly, "We keep her because of love. Nothing else, just love."

Baffled and irritated, the young folks wished the old man and his wife a Merry Christmas and headed back toward the city as darkness stole through the valley.

The old couple shook their heads in sorrow that it had not been a happy visit. A tear fell upon their cheeks. How is it that these young folks do not understand the peace of the love that filled their hearts? So it was, that because of the unhappy leave-taking, no one noticed the insulation smoldering on the frayed wires in the old barn. None saw the first spark fall. None but the "Old One".

In a matter of minutes, the whole barn was ablaze and the hungry flames were licking at the loft full of hay. With a cry of horror and despair, the old man shouted to his wife to call for help as he raced to the barn to save their beloved horses. But the flames were roaring now, and the blazing heat drove him back. He sank sobbing to the ground, helpless before the fire's fury. His wife back from calling for help cradled him in her arms, clinging to each other, they wept at their loss. By the time the fire department arrived, only smoking, glowing ruins were left, and the old man and his wife, exhausted from their grief, huddled together before the barn.

They were speechless as they rose from the cold snow covered ground. They nodded thanks to the firemen as there was nothing anyone could do now. The old man turned to his wife, resting her white head upon his shoulders as his shaking old hands clumsily dried her tears with a frayed red bandana. Brokenly he whispered, "We have lost much, but God has spared our home on this eve of Christmas. Let us gather strength and climb the hill to the old pine where we have sought comfort in times of despair. We will look down upon our home and give thanks to God that it has been spared and pray for our beloved most precious gifts that have been taken from us.

And so, he took her by the hand and slowly helped her up the snowy hill as he brushed aside his own tears with the back of his old and withered hand. The journey up the hill was hard for their old bodies in the steep snow. As they stepped over the little knoll at the crest of the hill, they paused to rest, looking up to the top of the hill the old couple gasped and fell to their knees in amazement at the incredible beauty before them. Seemingly, every glorious, brilliant star in the heavens was caught up in the glittering, snow-frosted branches of their beloved pine, and it was aglow with heavenly candles. And poised on its top most bough, a crystal crescent moon glistened like spun glass. Never had a mere mortal created a Christmas tree such as this. They were breathless as the old man held his wife tighter in his arms.

Suddenly, the old man gave a cry of wonder and incredible joy. Amazed and mystified, he took his wife by the hand and pulled her forward. There, beneath the tree, in resplendent glory, a mist hovering over and glowing in the darkness was their Christmas gift. Shadows glistening in the night light. Bedded down about the "Old One" close to the trunk of the tree, was the entire herd, safe. At the first hint of smoke, she had pushed the door ajar with her muzzle and had led the horses through it. Slowly and with great dignity, never looking back, she had led them up the hill, stepping cautiously through the snow.

The foals were frightened and dashed about. The skittish yearlings looked back at the crackling, hungry flames, and tucked their tails under them as they licked their lips and hopped like rabbits. The mares that were in foal with a new years crop of babies, pressed uneasily against the "Old One" as she moved calmly up the hill and to safety beneath the pine. And now, she lay among them and gazed at the faces of the old man and his wife.

Those she loved she had not disappointed. Her body was brittle with years, tired from the climb, but the golden eyes were filled with devotion as she offered her gift--- Because of love.

Only Because of love. Tears flowed as the old couple shouted their praise and joy... And again the peace of love filled their hearts.

This is a true story. Willy Eagle

A group of 40 years old buddies discuss where they should go for dinner. Finally it is agreed that they should meet at the Gausthofzum Lowen restaurant because the waitress's there have low cut blouses and nice breasts.

10 years later, at 50 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet.
Finally it is agreed that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the food there is very good and the wine selection is good also.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet.
Finally it is agreed that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen, for the peace and quiet and the restaurant is smoke free.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet.
Finally it is agreed that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the restaurant is wheel chair accessible and they even have an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because they have never been there before.

Prodigal Sons

love

In life people all take a beating.

One story from the Bible is about the Prodigal Son.

Prodigal - meaning wasteful and lavish.

The story goes that a father gave one son his inheritance and he went out into the world and wasted it.
As long as he had money he had friends and when the money was gone he ended up with nothing so he went home.
Just like the person who had sex without love, he castrated himself by spending his inheritance and ended up with nothing.

Even as a servant, his Father fed and paid better than the life he led without money in the outside world.

So he came back and his Father was so happy he gave him a fat calf and a ring.

This act hurt the son who stayed behind and worked to preserve the Fathers wealth and made it grow.

The story is simple and teaches or is supposed to teach that all three, father and two sons were prodigal.

To me the word prodigal refers to inheritance and finance but in this story it refers to feelings and actions as well.

The philosophy lies in between the times this story was told and todays world where a lot of things have changed.

In todays world those who do bad seem to be rewarded. We see this in families collecting social welfare for their mistakes, dead beat dads who keep going on making kids and women fighting over them, knowing full well they can't hold onto them.
We see this in private firms such as banks, insurance companies, Government, charity groups, churches and temples and companies selling stocks where CEO's help themselves to the money people entrust to them to do the right thing.

We see prodigal sons everywhere in this world, being rewarded for "mistakes".

The horrible difference lies in the fact that it is one thing when one makes an honest mistake and needs teaching to know the difference and quite another thing, when one goes to make mistakes knowing full well that they are doing wrong. This is not a mistake anymore.

If we are all prodigal sons, then where is the truth?
Where is the love?
When will society learn to live by example. Our children learn from the past. If there is nothing to teach, they will stop learning.
You cannot go through life making up excuses for bad behavior. If it is all ok, then there is nothing left to teach.

Happy New Year to everyone.....

I would like to wish each and everyone of you and your families and close ones a very Happy New Year, filled with Joy, Happiness, Health and prosperity...do take care of your families and close ones for that's what Life is all about...this time of the year reminds me, as a little girl growing up, of our close knit family, which consisted my mom, dad, Baboushka, Dedoushka, uncles, aunts and cousins...my Dad and I would go shopping on St-Lawrence street in Montreal for the meal to be prepared for a once a year feast to be enjoyed by the entire family...my aunt and her family used to drive down from NY state to celebrate the New Year with us...those were the days...these are the fond memories of a child grown up and nurtured in a loving and caring family...I have since grown up, married my sweetheart and had children of my own and we still do the same traditional stuff at New Year's...even though, sadly, my parents are no longer phyically with us, their spiritual presence and love is felt by each one of us at the New Year's table and toasts...May they rest in peace till we meet again eternally in a life beyond...
God Bless you all and Happy New Year to All.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

I guess holidays mean different things to different people.

This particular holiday for me is in celebration of our Jesus's birth.
We call it a Christmas Day.

As the Christ grew he learned many things. He tried to teach and shepherd many
into understanding what humanity is and how important it is to behave since
we have the potential to self destruct.

Peace on Earth and Good Will to Men he preached.
To all men who believe in his Father.

For he is the Father to us all.

It sounds rather funny that we fight over our prophets and religious leaders, because
they are all speaking in the name of the ONE FATHER and his message to all is to live in peace.
understand one another, love one another, accept one another.
Why do we not hear and understand?

Jesus was no different.
Did he exist?
Is he a fable? A legend??
Does it matter?

What matters is that to this day
we criticize one another as if we did not all have and know
THE GOOD THE BAD and THE UGLY.

We demonstrate this when we destroy what is good and replace it with
what hurts innocent people, families and children.

When we take pride in sin and the wicked, saying everything is ok,
we deny them hearing what is good, gentle and kind.
This is what Jesus stood for and loved.
Because of his ideas, people come of their own free will, to love him.

We can't help any one if they do not understand why we are protecting them,
for we took out the most important person in whose
name we are doing all these things for.......
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. For this is who Jesus stood for.
This is who he was.

On this day we try to share in the good by greeting each other with joy and
gift exchanging as the wise men who followed a star, did,
casting away the bad and the ugly from the spirit of mankind,
which was, even then, hunting and killing, new born babes.

So on this Note I wish every one a Very Merry Christmas!!!!!
May there be enough turkey and cranberries and love feasting at your table .
May every day be filled with the spirit of Christmas as you walk through
your paths in life.

If only every day were Christmas. What a glorious world this would be.
God Bless you all!!!
:)
