Poo Poo'd Yet Still Hope in Old Fashion

I loved this artists work because of the vivid colors.
It also complimented the generous character of the River Rock Casino Resort.
Not only was the food good and coffee ample, but people could sit and enjoy reading a good book looking out at the
Marina just outside. In summer the doors would be opened out onto a terrace.

We have a problem with bullying these days and laws being passed giving some people who bully jail sentences, because of the way their actions affect the bullied people.

We teach kids things they are not supposed to know in elementary school.
Minds are immature at this stage in life.

We took away teaching what we should be teaching in terms of manners and etiquette, as these things are considered old fashioned and poo poo'd.

If such things were returned into schools and bad words and body language curtailed as normal ways of speaking and behaving, people would not be so loose with their behavior.

Laissez Faire Freedom - Liberalism - Is not for every one.

Bad manners lead to bad behavior because nothing is taken seriously.
Everything is a joke and then seen as hate crimes when people get hurt.

I personally find bad language very offensive but no one passed laws for me .
But then I didn't kill myself.
Some people come close to being killed for using bad language.
But they didn't pass laws for them either.
Instead people sue others for stealing their offensive music, claiming it is their
artistic expression.
They make millions forcing young people to listen to and applaud hate music.

I find the laws passed today have a lot to be desired.
They carry double standards.

I know adults also make kids do the bad behavior work the adults could be sued for .
Kids can't be sued so kids are exploited by adults.

These laws passed today are meaningless laws.
They reward bad behavior while
leaving doors open for the bullied to also bully.

I guess its better to let things go until more people die or are put in jail
rather than teach people to use manners and proper respectful language,
which then would promote good behavior between people. lol

And I now go back to etiquette, manners and the ten commandments lol

So simple but yet so difficult.
A poo poo'd old fashioned subject

In his French chateaus, Picasso catches a burglar stealing one of his paintings, but the thief manages to get away. The police arrive and ask for a description of the man, so Picasso proceeds to paint them a re-creation of the man's face. Later that day, the police bring in a mother superior, the minister of agriculture, a toilet and the Eiffel Tower for questioning.

A master thief breaks into the Louvre and absconds with priceless paintings, only to find that his getaway van quickly runs out of gas and he is caught. When interrogated, he explains: "You see, the reason I stole the paintings in the first place is because I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh!"

Like a Rock

One can't get over the power and magnificence of horses as seen in this statue.
The old masters had a good eye to display the meaning these loyal steeds had to men of war.

Loyal brave gallant honorable.
They gave up their lives for men, not so gallant, brave loyal and honorable.

Little twists life plays on both man and beast.
But to sit and look at it, is breath taking.

Frozen Crabs & the Blonde Stewardess

A lawyer boarded an airplane in New Orleans , with a box of frozen crabs, and asked a blonde stewardess to take care of them for him.

She took the box and promised to put it in the crew's refrigerator.

He advised her that he was holding her personally responsible for them staying frozen, mentioning in a very haughty manner that he was a lawyer, and proceeded to rant at her about what would happen if she let them thaw out.

Needless to say, she was annoyed by his behavior.

Shortly before landing in New York , she used the intercom to announce to the entire cabin, "Would the lawyer who gave me the crabs in New Orleans , please raise your hand?"

Not one hand went up ... so she took them home and ate them.

Two lessons here:

1. Lawyers aren't as smart as they think they are.

2. Blondes aren't as dumb as most folk think.

Halloween Etched in Goya

Goya a Spanish painter born in 1746, who did a lot of Royal Paintings and was supported by the Royal Court.

"In 1799, Goya produced a series of 80 etchings called Los Caprichos. They were collectively an uninhibited allegorical condemnation of the foibles of eighteenth-century Spanish society. His prints criticized the ruling elite, superstition, deceit and the erosion of rational thought. In his The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (1799), perhaps the frontispiece (an illustration preceding the title page of a book) for his set of ribald satires, the disillusioned Goya depicted himself asleep amongst his drawing implements, surrounded by nightmarish creatures that represent the evils and corruption he associated with Spain."

Woman looks frightened by what the monk is telling her.

Goyas' work seems frightening here in these pictures.
I don't think they are something I would want hanging on my wall except during Halloween
when the aim is to scare people. lol
But one can clearly see where his mind must have been when he was paintings these.
They were not on flowers and sunshine.
He became deaf from an illness no one understood but now it is believed it was from the pigments in his paints which contained lead and after that he became a very dark type of painter.

hand of time

I caught the universe
With a hand of time.
And saw it as perfection
Created just for me.

I caught true love
Like a fish at sea
It was a blessing
Sent here just for me.

And I caught life and laughter
Colors and soft rain
I felt perfection all around me
pulsating through my brain .

And then I caught a babe
Tumbling from a starlit sky
A universal miracle
A child of time.

And there I stood
Over flowing trembling and rejoiced
By the power that was in me
Untried and un rehearsed

Like the universe above me
I explode to live again
And the hand of time will catch me
As I caught it from heaven above.

A teacher trying to teach good manners, asked her students the following question:

'Michael, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady,
how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?
'
Michael said: 'Just a minute I have to go pee.'

The teacher responded by saying:

'That would be rude and impolite. What about you Sherman, how
would you say it?'

Sherman said: 'I am sorry, but I really need to goto the bathroom. I'll be right back
.'
'That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the dinner table. And you, little Johnny, can you use your brain for once and show us your good manners?'

Johnny said 'I would say: Darling, may I please be excused for
a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope to introduce you to after dinner.'

September 11 Tragedy

9/11

Today we remember all who died on that tragic day 10 years ago,
which resulted in nothing less than an inferno of smoke and rubble.
One of North Americas' most tragic hours.
A declaration of war against innocence
by cowards who ran and hid,
by fanatic pretenders, of peace.

In God We Trust
To God we gave our friends and relatives and children
May God cherish and love them now,
While we remember their spirits in our hearts and souls.

Seed Price.

Matitiyahu (Matthew) 13:24-30 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Since man is born knowing both good and evil, anything can be expected of him.

The above Matthew 13:24-30 gives an example of how to resolve a problem in the field when good intentions of planting wheat, are
sabotaged by someone who threw in weed seeds to either kill or weaken the wheat plant and also maybe to trash the farmers' reputation of being fair just and good.

The answer was to allow both weeds and wheat to grow until harvest and then
pull the weeds out and then, to gather the wheat.

The verse is amazing because we do plant certain plants into toxic soil, to absorb the poisons, which we then collect and burn. The soil is thus left renewed, clean and able to be used again for healthy farming .

We probably could find certain plants to plant in lakes and rivers to absorb the toxins from the soil below we could not clean up after cleaning the water. We can't eat the fish because of it because they eat the plants which absorb the toxins which now lie in the ground below the water the plants root in.
However if we pulled them all out with the toxins they absorbed, eventually the fish would be edible again.

This example transcends, time history and can be applied to marriages, business, politics, schools, churches, corporations, banks etc.... It makes me wonder if it can be applied to diseases such as aids and cancer. If we can't get the aids virus for example, out of the white blood cell, maybe by adding something more into the white blood cell, we can pull out, that also attaches itself to the aids virus inside or outside the white blood cell, the aids element can be manipulated to behave in the way we want it to.
Thus it can be either destroyed or washed out, attached to the new addition.

No matter how good a foundation you build, you will find both good and evil.
Someone always tries to trash what you are trying to build, grow or have built, for personal profit or envy or just because he/she can. As society grows, without moral conscience and decides everything is, just business, it behaves more and more like the cancer and aids we are trying to find solutions to.

Someone comes along and throws weeds into your domain so your life or product, does not produce fruit. It happens every day, more than we know.

The answer, we learn in the Bible, lies in patience .
Planting other things. Other seeds to negate the weeds or evil, also need time to grow
so evil can be eliminated or found where it hides.

Patience lies in time. Many don't have the time. Many don't have either the patience nor the money to buy time. Many panic and produce chaos. Evil loves chaos.
However, chaos can be used both ways.
It can promote good as well as evil.

No one ever said it was going to be easy.
For everything we have and grow, we learn from the tree of knowledge, there is a price to be paid and sacrifices to be made.

Scalawag

A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?"
He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With head held high
He jumped over brush
Which scattered on the forest floor
The melting snow so warm and fresh
Kept his skin aglow

I wondered what he was up to now
Alone under a starry sky
A playful rogue, a scalawag
One looks at with a smile.

He trips , he falls as
His pants fall down
While he charges made up villains
His sword flies high and hits the soil
In between, soft snow, caresses.

But the rascal takes no time at all
To rise and scamper yonder
Enfant terrible! his Mom would call
When he sneaks off like a shyster.

And As I walked along the path
I heard his paling thunder
Voila Monsieur! En garde! Adieu!
Now I have all your treasure!

Ha! Ha!
You thought you could get away
Deceitful knave of Wiltshire
And as he turned he saw me stare
At his wily ways and grandeur

And he tipped his hat
While his pants he held
With a gallant smile and laughter.
I'm off to meet another imp
Another black guard jug head.

I will turn them into crow bait
Along with their precious nags
For I am a scoundrel, rogue and hack
The one and ONLY
Scalawag of Wiltshire.

A Lady's Life

One morning 3 South Alabama good old boys and 3 Yankees were in a ticket line at the Montgomery
train station heading to Auburn to watch the War Eagles play football.

The 3 Northerners each bought a ticket and watched as the 3 Southerners bought just one ticket among them.

"How are the 3 of you going to travel on one 1 ticket?" asked one of the Yankees.

"Watch and learn" answered one of the boys from the South.

When the 6 travelers boarded the train, the 3 Yankees sat down, but the 3 Southerners crammed into a bathroom
together and closed the door.

Shortly after the train departed, the conductor came around to collect tickets.

He knocked on the bathroom door and said, "ticket please." the door opened just a crack and a single arm emerged
with a ticket in hand. The Conductor took it and moved on.
The Yankees saw this happen and agreed it was quite a clever idea.. Indeed, so clever that they decided to do the
same thing on the return trip and save some money.

That evening after the game when they got to the Auburn train station, they bought a single ticket for the return trip
while to their astonishment the 3 Southerners didn't buy even 1 ticket

"How are you going to travel without a ticket?" asked one of the perplexed Yankees.

"Watch and learn", answered one of the Southern boys.

When they boarded the train the 3 Northerners crammed themselves into a bathroom and the 3 Southerners crammed
themselves into the other bathroom across from it.

Shortly after the train began to move, one of the Southerners left their bathroom and walked quietly over to the
Yankee's bathroom. He knocked on the door and said "ticket please".

There's just no way on earth to explain how the Yankees won the war

One of the bloggers made a blog having to do with a good deed bracelet.
I thought it was a wonderful idea for teachers and parents especially to teach values and good behavior.

Every time your child does a good deed, he/she gets a bead.
If the bracelet is full then this is something they can be proud to wear and if they have more bracelets
even better. Then you can also hand out awards for the number of bracelets a child gets.
I guess Walmart would have kits with beads to do this project with students
I would have directed you to the blog itself but I lost it.

A hooded robber burst into a Texas bank and forced the tellers to load a
sack full of cash.

On his way out the door, a brave Texas customer grabbed the hood and pulled
it off, revealing the robbers face. The robber shot the customer without a
moment's hesitation.

He then looked around the bank and noticed one of the tellers looking
straight at him. The robber instantly shot him also. Everyone in the bank,
by now very scared, looked intently down at the floor in silence.

The robber yelled, " Well, did anyone else see my face?"

There are a few moments of utter silence in which everyone was plainly to
afraid to speak

Then, one old cowboy named Bill from Oklahoma tentatively raised his hand
and said,

"My wife got a pretty good look at you."

Spring Hunger

Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years
to write.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh Spring!
Oh dawn!
Oh Marrakech of life!
Alive and bemoaning no one
Of tasting the joys of feelings and strife
Of laughing away the hours of sorrow.

Oh see here, my adamant stranger and foe
You spring into action and hunger
And as you walk amongst friends in this land
Delirium sets in and upsets you

Oh Spring!
Oh Dawn!
Oh Marrakkech of life!
Dis robe to the sun and awaken
And look straight into the face of your son
So memory doesn't fail him

I was told a story about a lady in the hospital who was near death when an
area Chaplain came to visit her. This Chaplain was a very young female with
long blond hair. She listened to the lady who was ill and left her a small
gift for comfort It was a tiny ceramic frog. The next day one of the people
from the lady's church came to visit.. The lady told her friend about the
beautiful young Chaplain who had come to visit her. The friend was so
impressed with the way the lady had improved and felt the need to talk to
the young Chaplain. In her search to find the young gal, she was repeatedly
assured that the chaplains are never very young and that there was never a
gal that fit the description given.
Upon returning to the lady in the hospital, a visiting nurse entered the
room and noticed the ceramic frog. The nurse made the comment, "I see you
have a guardian angel with you,' as she held the little frog. We asked why
she made the comment and we were informed that the frog stood for:

..........And I Can't Win

Omen , the bear,
A symbol of strength and cunning
A predator , a feeder
Exulting in a spirit of a nation.

This post card was a painting of Larry Fanning Art.
--------------------------------------------------------

The heart is a powerful muscle and controls life as well as love
The mind is also powerful and controls life as well as love
Working together against you, it is hard to beat the Two
and so the poem .....And I Can't Win
written so long ago, when life was a drama. lol

-----------------------------

If ere by chance I glance
Upon your face.
I see a silent smile
Pursue your lips
And it seems distant.
I hold out my hand
To reach your grasp,
To have it pressed against your
Burning heart and kissed,
The way you always do, when you are sad,
With head bent low.
Your eyes, deep and dark and wild
Stare out into the darkness
Enfolding us.
They stare and yet see nothing
As if blind.
Your life revolves around your mind,
In capsulated by a thick barred cage
From which there is no escape.
You can't forget...............
And I can't win.

And you will be weak for days.

All my love,

The policeman had the bar under surveillance a few minutes before closing time, so he could see who comes out drunk.

The first one out the door at 2:00 o'clock weaved down the sidewalk, then fell on the curb. Sluggishly got up, then tried his keys in five cars before finding his own car.

Once inside his car, he fumbled with his keys for 2 or 3 minutes.

Meanwhile, all the club patrons had gotten into their cars and driven away, leaving this one fellow quite alone in the parking lot.

Finally, he got his car started and began to very slowly drive away.

Immediately, the police car was behind him with lights flashing.

The policeman asked the man to take a breathalyser test, to which he readily agreed.

When the reading was 0.0%, the policeman said, "How can this be?"

To which the man replied, "Because tonight, I'm the designated decoy."

A Molten String of Love and Trust

George Carlin said man has thrown away all sense of sanity. He has not been using his gift of a brain to live and make peace with mankind animals nor the environment.
As a result man struggles to survive every day.
The world lacks in tolerance and forgiveness.
People become cold, calculating and greedy.
As the negative instead of the positive become entrenched into daily life,
people and planet become weaker for how can you win, fighting against yourself?

There is no yin and yang in life.
There is only one, tied together, by positive and negative forces.
These magnetic forces do not separate us but tie us all together.

United we stand - Divided we fall.
So work ....... united.
-------------------------------------

The flickering lights in a deep dark sky
Know when we're apart
For one by one they fall and die
Like cinders in my heart
You leave me always in despair
Each time you go away
You break me up and leave my life
In cruel disarray.

I sit and watch the stars by night
And wonder if they could
Just for an instant make you stop
And take a good long look
Reflect upon what we do have
Each others' strong embrace
Our eyes could see each others' soul
Through crowds and walls and distant space.

There is only you and me
a child and a small dog
A love so pure and molten
No sword or knife could cut.

But then when you're away my dear
The view becomes a haze
Other stars begin to carry
The string of memories we made.
And we're lost between their lights
And search in vain, to find
The string that held us close ,
A flutter and untied

The Universe sits in splendor
It's colored and lit up
A fireworks display of motion
Disappears as fast as it lights up
And every day I sit a thinkin
It can never be untied..........

Melted hot and molten
Our silken string is strong
No sword or knife can cut it
or untie it in wind.

Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his Grandmother's house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served.
When Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away. 'Johnny! Please wait until we say our prayer.' said his mother.

'I don't need to,' the boy replied. 'Of course, you do.' his mother insisted. 'We always say a prayer before eating at our house.' 'That's at our house.' Johnny explained. 'But this is Grandma's house and she knows how to cook!'

Puzzling Affair

I do not have any more children in the house but lots of memories stuck in boxes which need to be sorted.
Some things need to be kept.
Some sold in a garage sale.

One thing I always liked doing is buying puzzles especially when I see nice ones on sale.
They are always good, for all ages, to do .
Kids and seniors can spend wonderful quality time, sitting doing these things over hot chocolate and good conversation.
I remember my friend taking them to do when they went skiing.

Something is nice about sitting beside a crackling fire watching the snow flakes and doing a nice puzzle with a brandy.

Then what do you do with it, once it's finished?
Well I like to glue them onto a poster board and then frame them.

I find it pays to do if the puzzle is a nice one.
Then if you want to sell it at a craft fair and/or give it as a present to some one, it usually is appreciated.

I don't know what other people do with their elaborate puzzles once they are done.
The last blog had a train puzzle and todays' is a bird and roses. I like both of them.

Jokes

A big shot business man had to spend a couple of days in the hospital.

He was a royal pain to the nurses because he bossed them around just like he did his employees. None of the hospital staff wanted to have anything to do with him.

The head nurse was the only one who could stand up to him. She walked into his room and announced, "I have to take your temperature."

After complaining for several minutes, he finally settled down, crossed his arms and opened his mouth.

"No, I'm sorry, the nurse stated, "but for this reading, I can't use an oral thermometer."

This started another round of complaining, but eventually he rolled over and bared his behind.

After feeling the nurse insert the thermometer, he heard her announce, "I have to get something. Now you stay JUST LIKE THAT until I get back!"

She leaves the door to his room open on her way out. He curses under his breath as he hears people walking past his door, laughing. After almost an hour, the man's doctor comes into the room.

"What's going on here?" asked the doctor.

Angrily, the man answers, "What's the matter, Doc? Haven't you ever seen someone having their temperature taken before?"

After a pause, the doctor replies, "Yes, but never with a daffodil!"
Moral of the story ? Never cross your nurse.

Times are a changin.

An architect, an artist and an accountant were discussing whether it was better to spend time with the wife or a mistress.

The architect said he enjoyed time with his wife, building a solid foundation for an enduring relationship.

The artist said he enjoyed time with his mistress, because of the passion and mystery he found there.

The accountant said, "I like both."

"Both?"

The accountant replied "Yeah. If you have a wife and a mistress, they will each assume you are spending time with the other woman, and you can go to the office and get some work done."

Five cannibals get appointed as engineers in a Oil Company.

During the welcoming ceremony the boss says: "You're all part of our team now. You can earn good money here, and you can go to the cafeteria for something to eat. So don't trouble the other employees".

The cannibals promise not to trouble the other employees.

Four weeks later the boss returns and says: "You're all working very hard, and I'm very satisfied with all of you. One of our cleaners has disappeared, however. Do any of you know what happened to her?" The cannibals disavow all knowledge of the missing cleaner.

After the boss has left, the leader of the cannibals says to the others: "Which of you idiots ate the cleaning lady?".

A hand raises hesitantly, to which the leader of the cannibals says: "You fool! For four weeks we've been eating Team Leaders, Task Leaders and Project Managers so no one would notice anything, and you have to go and eat the cleaning lady!"

Qi Baishi 1863 - 1957 Ex Chairman of the Chinese Artist Aociety

During World War II, many traditional art works and culture were being destroyed and no longer things of value, but Baishi was still respected and was “elected to the National People’s Congress and made honorary Chairman of the National Artist’s’ Association, he represented a continuing commitment to traditional cultural values in revolutionary China” (Xiangtan, p. 1). He died at age 93.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

SARAH PALIN: The chicken crossed the road because gosh-darn it,
he's a maverick!

BARACK OBAMA: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for
change! The chicken wanted change!

JOHN MC CAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he
recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all
the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that
little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely
qualified to ensure right from Day One that every chicken in this
country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't
about me.

GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the
road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or
not.
The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground
here.

DICK CHENEY: Where's my gun?

COLIN POWELL: Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see
the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road.

BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with that chicken.

AL GORE: I invented the chicken.

JOHN KERRY: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I
am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled
about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against
it.

AL SHARPTON: Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens.

DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't
realize that he must first deal with the problem on this side of the
road before it goes after the problem on the other side of the road. What we need to
do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his current
problems before adding new problems.

OPRAH: Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems,
which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having
the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life,
I'm going to give this chicken a NEW CAR so that he can just drive across the road
and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

ANDERSON COOPER, CNN: We have reason to believe there is a chicken,
but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the
road.

NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's guilty! You
can see it in his eyes and the way he walks, unleash the lawyers.

PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

MARTHA STEWART: No one called me to warn me which way that chicken
was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs
when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any
insider information.

DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a
toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not
been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain, alone.

JERRY FALWELL: Because the chicken was gay! Can't you people see
the plain truth? That's why they call it the 'other side.' Yes, my
friends,
That chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay
too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the
Liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like 'the other
side.' That chicken should not be crossing the road. It's as plain and
as simple as that.

GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road.
Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

BARBARA WALTERS: Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will
be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming
story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went
on to accomplish it's lifelong dream of crossing the road.

ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

JOHN LENNON: Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads
together, in peace.

BILL GATES: I have just released eChicken2010, which will not only
cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents,
and balance your checkbook.. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken2010.
This new platform is much more stable and will never reboot.

ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the
road move beneath the chicken?

COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one?

Smiles for the New Year!!

So the unruly Russians were kicked off the plane eh?
lol

Awww Canada.
We love our beer but we don't have to be upset they don't like it as much as we do.
After all, they drank watered down whisky, not 110 proof vodka, Russia's used to.
No wooses in bear wrestling Russia
and
I'd say Gold is an excellent reason to celebrate lol
But then the Coaches should show a better example to their kids.
They are kids after all.

What r some good Russian jokes?
I don't know. You have to find em. Ever see a Miracle??
They just keep russian around.
It's understandable cause ...............
------------------------------
In Soviet Russia......pucks hit you.
-----------------------------

At the Olympic men's figure skating tournament in the US, an Irish competitor skated around some classical music in a slightly dull costume , did some excellent jumps but no artistic feel
for the music.
Judges scored : Br.=5.8 Ireland - 5.9 USA - 5.5 and Russia 6.0

Next came the US competitor. His outfit sparkled, He skated to rockinroll music. The crowd clapped .Technically he was not as good as the Irish guy but artistically very good.
The judges score for the US guy??
Br. 5.8 Ireland 5.5 USA 5.9 Russia 6.0

The Brit came out next and his jumps were good but not as good as the US guy.
The Judges gave him BR 5.8 USA 5.7 Ireland 5.9 and Russia 6.0

Finally
The Russian came out wearing a horrible costume old skates tied around his feet.
He tripped as he came out onto the ice and banged his nose which began bleeding. He got up and staggered a few paces and then again fell down. His whole routine was full of spills and falls.
As he made it to the end he was tattered and bleeding getting off the rink.
The Judges scores read:
Br. 0-0 Ireland 0.0 USA 0-0 Russia 6-0

Everyone stared at the Russian judge and asked how can you give him 6-0?

The Russian judge replies : "You gotta remember, it's damn slippery out there."

-----------------------------------
Yup ... Russia's changed or has it when judges are blind to Russia's flaws?
At least he was fair to all the competitors knowing what he was looking for lol
Don't mess with a sober Russian. lol
No more vodka to buy there, after Perestroika, so sober, they come to the US to get a little high lol

Am I bad or what ? lol
-------------------------------------

Well, I am not the only one. A Russian Comedian, Yakov Smirnoff, was truly excited when he came to the US and saw Smirnoff being advertised on bill boards.
He said teary eyed:
Everyone in America loves Smirnoff!!. lol

He said he went to the grocery store and
bought powder eggs, powder milk, and baby powder... and marvelled
...only in America!!

He read the Employment Section of the newspaper where it said:
"Part time woman wanted.
He thought.. What a country ! Even transvestites can get a job!

He was offered a job working as a barman on a grave yard shift and thought...
Amazing country. A bar in a cemetery.
Last call?
During Happy Hour, the place must be dead. lol

Russians!
Love em or hate em, we got to remember, they laugh at Borat too.

------------------------------------------------------

Apart from the sport scene
I have to promote true artists, since the work they do is so time consuming.

This is a site I found with many artists one can click on to see their works.
Some are extremely good.

Have fun.

Whispering Sweet Nothings

This is a work in progress, although I am so far, not very fond of it.
Thinking of chucking it.
Have to put a lot more effort into it if it will get a passing grade for effort.
I love Renoir and this picture he painted in particular.
I am not doing it justice at all.

He didn't turn out so bad but she turned out horrible and it is the woman and her eyes
that really count.
Is it love?
He says it is but she ain't buyin it lol

Forgive me he says. For you are my turtle dove.
I am not impressed Monsieur. lol
Shame on you for trying to .......you know.......seduce
a young woman. lol
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice... shame on me.

But such is the life in the artist world.
One loves and is loved.
Life burns with passion.
Once you feel it, you will never want to live without it.
Your cup runneth over.
-----------------------------

Burn bright oh love and
let me cover you
with the soft feathers
of my bed.
Let me kiss your bright red lips
and feel their softness
on my breath.
For I have never lived till now
And ne're more will live
If it were so
Ne'er to feast upon
Your clear dark eyes
And exclaim my passion through them
To your soul.
For what is life without the touch
of your soft, cool hands' caress across my brow.
Even now, I feel the tenderness, in so light a touch,
As to make me drunk with stupor
In delight, to be so loved
By such as thee.

A Lady's Life.

lol
:)

Sister Mary Ann, who worked for a home health agency, was out making
her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas.

As luck would have it, a Texaco Gasoline station was just a block away.

She walked to the station to borrow a gas can and buy some gas. The
attendant told her that the only gas can he owned had beenloaned out,
but she could wait until it was returned. Since Sister Mary Ann was on
the way to see a patient, she decided not to waitand walked back to her
car.

She looked for something in her car that she could fill with gas and
spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient.

Always resourceful, Sister Mary Ann carried the bedpan to the
station, filled it with gasoline, and carried the full bedpan back to her car.

As she was pouring the gas into her tank, two Baptists watched from
across the street.. One of them turned to the other and said,

'If it starts, I'm turning Catholic.'!!

In God we trust!

Christmas Fun

Three more eggs and I will have my two dozen to put away to dry for a year.
In the mean time, they make a lovely postcard, do they not??

I can add as many eggs as I want to make a heritage collage
of my own stuff and am enjoying seeing them turn out lol

Here's a
WINTER Poem Someone wrote.

ENJOY!

It's winter in Canada
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.

Oh, how I love Canada
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Canada
Cuz I'm frozen to the ground!

Have a great day...:)

New but Old

Millet caught a moment in time in this picture to show us today how butter was churned.
Today its so easy to go to the store and buy it ready made.

I love to learn the old ways because one never knows when one can get stuck, have things and then not know what you have and what can be done with it. It's like anything else, especially math, if you let someone else, or a machine do it , you never learn the process behind the madness and therefore are cut off from the real world.

It seems in the picture, they put in a lot of creme to make a lot of butter.

Today I find butter is not as tasty as it was before ( neither is coffee)bought from the store.
So I found a video which shows how to make a tasty batch, at home, two ways, one quickly, using a food processor.

So for special occasions when you want to make something extra to add to your table setting, apart from the home made bread, it is good to try making butter at home yourself and then using a cookie cutter make reasonable sized heart pieces or with cake icing dispenser, create Hershey Kisses made out of it for presentation purposes.

Just one more thing to do I guess, but well worth it.
Hope you enjoy this video. I know I did especially when it's so easy.

Life's Canvass

My Egg collection is getting larger.
Some eggs are empty, some are boiled and some are fresh.
All painted in acrylic paints.

I can't believe what an excellent canvass these eggs really make
The egg in the center with the large face is not finished because the painting goes around the egg.
but she looks great from the front.
Now I still have to be extremely careful not to break them before spraying them with shellac.
Then they have to stand a year so the egg inside dries and then the eggs do not have to have a stand. They will be like punching men. You can push them down but they will pop upright again.
For the time being, I used childrens clay to stand them in. And it does dry and becomes hard but it's soft enough to take the shape of the egg to make a nice stand.

The empty eggs would make nice decorations for a tree but the full ones are great to display in a
dining room display case along with all the other dishes you may use on special occasions.
They are fun and easy to make.
To dry, I will put them away back into the egg container and forget about them for a year.
I don't have the old eggs I made, when I was a kid but my cousin still has the ones I sent her from 20 years back.
She says they are very fragile but she treasures them. I suggested she respray them so they continue to stay hard.

:)

Where do we get our sayings from?

They used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families
Used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken &
Sold to the tannery . . . If you had to do this to survive
You were "Piss Poor"

But worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn't
Even afford to buy a pot . . . They "didn't have a pot to
Piss in" & were the lowest of the low.

The next time you are washing your hands and complain
Because the water temperature isn't just how you like it,
Think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about
The 1500s:

Houses had thatched roofs - thick straw - piled high, with no
Wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get
Warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs)
Lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and
Sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof . . .
Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."

There was nothing to stop things from falling into the
House. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs
And other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence,

A bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top
Afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into
Existence.

The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other
Than dirt. Hence the saying, "Dirt poor." The wealthy had
Slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet,
So they spread thresh (straw) on floor to help keep their
Footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until,

When you opened the door, it would all start slipping
Outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entrance-way.
Hence: a thresh hold.

(Getting quite an education, aren't you?)

In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big
Kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit
The fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly
Vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the
Stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold
Overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes stew
Had food in it that had been there for quite a while. Hence
The rhyme: Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas
Porridge in the pot nine days old. Sometimes they could
Obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When
Visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show
Off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could, "bring home
The bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests
And would all sit around and chew the fat.

Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high
Acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food,
Causing lead poisoning death. This happened most often with
Tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were
Considered poisonous.

Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt
Bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests
Got the top, or the upper crust.

Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination
Would Sometimes knock the imbibers out for a couple of days.
Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and
Prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen
Table for a couple of days and the family would gather
Around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake
Up. Hence the custom of holding a wake.

England is old and small and the local folks started running
Out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins
And would take the bones to a bone-house, and reuse the
Grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins
Were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they
realized they had been burying people alive . . . So they would
tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the
coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell.
Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night
(the graveyard shift.) to listen for the bell; thus, someone
could be, saved by the bell or was considered a dead ringer.

And that's the truth . . . . Now, whoever said History was boring!!!

So . . . get out there and educate someone! ~~~ Share these
facts with a friend.

Skins and Chickens

I tried something new to see if it would work.

My parents used to collect chicken skins which my Dad would roll up and freeze and then chop up,

since its easier to chop when the skins are frozen.

Along with other leftovers, they would place everything outside on a flat board they attached to a post.

I must say, I was impressed with the collection of birds they had amassed on that board.

Such an assortment would sit and wait for their daily meal and they all got along.

As soon as they would put out a board full it would be cleaned off in a matter of minutes.

Sparrows, blue, king fisher looking types, mocking birds, and even falcons, would all share.

My parents would sit , watch and enjoy behind their sliding door.

These birds became friends.

I guess the smell attracted other animals because they would also have deer, rabbits and other critters

which would show up and make their yard home.

Well I don’t feed the birds here as the winters are mild but I do collect the chickens skins like my parents did,

always thinking maybe there will be a time I could use them to feed the birds if we ever have snow and frost.

Since that never happens and I keep collecting the skins, I decided the fridge is meant for food , not chickens skins loll

So I took some out and dried them in salt. I then scraped the underlying fat off of them and dried them again.

Now, in the fall, I collected some dry leaves and boiled them. When the liquid cooled, I put the chicken skins

into the colored water to see if they would absorb the tannin from it.

I didn’t know how long they had to be kept in this water but I kept them in there two days.

After drying again, this is what I got.

Nice flexible yellow pieces I can sew up into something and even paint on.

Another batch I didn’t dry first and just put them into the tannin right after defrosting.

They changed color to a deeper brown..

I put one in the middle to show you the color difference.

Then I dried them as well.

I like the first batch better since the color is nicer, more natural.

I don’t know how many chicken skins one would need to make a vest out of but I would imagine quite a few.

But for small things like a change purse, clothing name tags, or maybe clothes for a doll, I think they can become very useful

things to recycle.

I was also thinking that maybe if the skins were curled and dried, they would also make good chewies for dogs.

But then we are told not to eat chickens skins so why would we give them to mans’ best friend?

Birds are different, since they eat everything they find in the wild anyway.

For Thanks Giving I got a large turkey and for the first time I skinned it and rolled it out on an open pizza box to absorb the fat that drips off of it when salted.

Now this made for a real nice piece of skin one can sew or paint on.

Like they say, preparation is half the fun but you learn something. Maybe next time I will boil the tannin leaves with a few beets in it and see how the skin turns out.

It's good to be back I was off line for a while. It's amazing how the internet affects one's life and it took a while to get used to not having it. But then I had more time for other things like visiting the library and cleaning house lol

Things I used to do but have no time for anymore. It's so easy today to have this marvelous machine at your fingertips but now I have to debate if it is really that good to be so dependent on a machine. It hurts other things which may fold as a result leaving people with nothing but one thing.

I do hope libraries don't suffer as a result of internet. There is still nothing better than a good book in hand.

Have a good day everyone.

Watching the World Go By

It was done on paper with acrylic paint.
I tried to do it with sponge dabbing within the outline.
Sponge art is very fast and easy to do and if you want to try a mural
it should turn out quite nice.

I am almost tempted to try that my self since
I have walls in my sons' room that require painting .

But then maybe I should just wait till the urge leaves.
Sometimes things done on impulse will take years to finish lol

But then I did do murals on canvas for the drama props.
They were finished, but then this is something you could roll up if you did not like it.

What is good about painting murals on canvass is that they do not damage the wall and provide for more insulation in winter.
