For Love Grace and Eternity

Slowly we are losing all the lovely people from the 50's
who had such a direct influence on our lives.
We watched them growing up, wearing beautiful gowns,
going to the yearly ball, being showered with flowers
from admiring beaus, and having their hands kissed.
They showed you how to wear your hair, how to paint your nails,
what perfume to buy, how to buy beautiful shoes and the saying was
buy cheap but be elegant and tasteful.
They designed their own gowns and this is how they will always be remembered.
Beautiful people loved and admired by so many.
This was my aunt.
She was a lady loved and admired for her charm, grace and generosity.

My aunt Eugenia passed away on Thanks giving week end.
She was the last from my Dad's side and was also my dearest God Mother.
I remember how she showered me with her love as a child.
How she let me wear her hats and shoes and how hurt she was when I dumped a whole bottle of expensive perfume she worked a month to buy, on my head.lol
I always sat between her and my then to become uncle and told him if he didn't stop touching her I'd push him into the river and he'd get his pants wet. I was three years old.
He always laughed after that and kept asking me if I still wanted to push him into the river to get his pants wet. When I was older I painted a large picture of a place I went to in Vermont of a river and water wheel
alongside an old building. Years later I went to visit her and she still had it and treasured it.
I was so touched.
She  asked me to sit with her as she drove her car one day and we had such a great time, that I forgot
she didn't know how to drive and was on a learners permit and she was so happy saying driving with me was so easy. I gave her a lot of confidence.lol and then horror spread across my face as I realized that I never paid attention to how she drove .
She raised beautiful canaries, gardened, loved animals and was a great athlete keeping up on her jogging throughout her life. There was nothing she couldn't do . She was a person endowed with many talents, both inner and outer beauty and golden hands.
She will be sadly missed by her children, grand children, extended family and friends.

I don't have her picture on hand but if I was to put one on, it would look
like the one above. This is how I will always remember her.

I said a prayer and lit a candle to help her find her way and hope she rests
in peace now, in a better place

Thank you george. She was a special gal that's for sure. Loved life and embraced it as long as she could.I think she was in her 90's so I guess it was time to move on with her journey through this mystery called life. I am sure there is a lot more to life than we know.

Yes today we call that vintage, and it's in fashion again. What a nice tribute to your aunt.

Thanks Margie.
Even if you don't see people too often, it's nice to know they are still there. Saying good bye is always difficult because it's so final.
