CARNATION MILK AD 65 YRS AGO- THIS IS PRICELESS

A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farm since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hardwork and little compensation. When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores in approximately the 1940s, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan. The producers wanted a rhyme beginning with 'Carnation Milk is best of all'.

She thought to herself, I know all about milk and dairy farms. I can do this! She sent in her entry, and several weeks later, a black limo pulled up in front of her house. A man got out and said, 'Carnation LOVED your entry so much, we are here to award you $2,000 even though we will not be able to use it!'

LOL This was funny I thought lol

I hope I have no captcha words for people to do to comment on my blog, because I can't hear all the words on other peoples blogs and so if they don't hear from me this is why.
I am not a robot but if I were, I would probably know how to do the captcha words better than as a human.
lol

Heh! Very good!! I will share this with some other people who will appreciate this!

I grew up on a dairy farm in Iowa. We had 35 to 45 Holstein (black and white) cows to milk twice a day. I laughed at the line about the hay as when you have a herd of dairy cows you spend all summer baling hay.

Yes - that woman definitely deserved to win that contest!

Take care.

Great ! the text is really very good. I think milk in a carton came here only in the 60th, as a child we had to pick up the milk in a tin can from the shop, later it was in bottles for a long time. Anyway only people with children got milk against milk stamps. It was after war.

Is that a condensed milk? Very funny slogan.,)
With *captcha words* do you mean comment moderation? As that is driving me truly insane. I hate those stupid words, sometimes it takes me 3-4x to get it right, so I am with you.;)

Milk it for all it's worth, young lady! Well done, you! Knowing your history means we will never see Carnation the same.

And I am not a robot . . . robot . . . robot . . .rob, ro, rooooooo, spkgqx! (Dead silence; the captcha demon is done!)

Russel - We lived beside a dairy farm and I used to visit the kids there. It was fun. This was the farm with the goat who watched carefully to kick your behind lol

Gattina - in the 50's we had a horse drawn carriage deliver milk in bottles and ice.
But not for very long cause then my grandmother got another fridge.
I think it was nicer when the horses came.

Zuzana - it took me a while to get used to the woman who did it but now they changed the voice and made the back ground noise louder and the words longer and the spelling more complicated. lol I'm a good speller but can't keep up with her and then if you don't hear one word, it debunks it.
So I try a few times and then say forget it.Commenting has to be made easier or people won't bother.

I'm with you. It was fun when the horses came. And maybe we even got some ice chips from the milk man.

Ah, those were the days.
