Fish and a Soap Bag

This is an interesting project to do with your child for Christmas.

It uses glycerin soap a little fish and a plastic bag. You melt the soap and fill the bag with it and add a rubber or plastic fish. Then just use a twist tie or ribbon and you have a very inexpensive present to give your favorite children or grand children. It's also a project you can enjoy doing alongside with your child.
I guess one could also use some other water creature like an octopus or shrimp but I think goldfish are favored.
Kids would have fun taking a bath with their pet soap.

The View showed so many new toys that even excited me. lol
Little push tummy toys where the toy opened its mouth and showed teeth and tongue.
Action figures with real people faces.
Marionettes kids could build and slap watches which seem to be a lot of fun.
They also showed a kit set where kids could use special saws and hammer nails.
Really cool stuff.
And a digital scrabble set.
Now even I want to take a romp in the Toys R Us Stores to see all these new things.

These were all under 50 dollar toys and the push tummy toy was only $12.00

Well enjoy your day everyone.

Little Ruffneck

I love walking on the beach collecting rocks.
I come home and sort them and try to see what pictures
I can see in them.
It's amazing sometimes what you can find in them.

In this little rock, I used the left hand side.
It looks perfect as a tree trunk with the stripes it has on it.
All it Needed was a little Ruff Neck to hide beside it.
So I drew him and now he is drying. It'll take a week or so
but then I can finish him.

I included a ruler just to give you a birds eye view as to how
large this little rock is.

These are fun projects.
Some stones can stand on their own.
Some you can glue magnets to or felt.
Some you can even make jewelry out of or just collect them in a
vase or jar and enjoy them when you want to.
They of course all have to be spray varnished.

Another thing a woman used to do. She'd collect round rocks and cement them into
a wooden frame but those were plain rocks. These painted ones would look great if a collection was put into a wooden frame and set in clear varnish or plaster or even stuck onto a designer jewelry box, individually.
I think if they were all painted like this and collaged into a sort of stepping stone,
one could display it beautifully on a living room table, with a felt backing.

It's your own personal work of art where you can capture your life's history.

Well it's another sunny day. Time to Enjoy!
Hope you have a good one.

People like to know and professionals don't lose out. The project speaks for itself.

King Tut Mask 2009

I wish I could take credit for this one but I can't.
It was a school project my son had to do recently.
He and his friend had to make a King Tut Mask.

My son used different colored play dough and he liked the result.
BUT
What happened was that as it dried, it began to crack..

So....... Help Mom! lol

I told him first off to use a brush and cover it with glue to prevent it from completely falling apart.

Then I figured the next step would be to use toilet paper which splits into very thin sheets.
When you put glue on the piece you work on, you can smooth the paper onto the surface, with the glue,
with a wet brush.

So he did that and it gave it a lovely textured look but it no longer had the different
colored play dough which he liked.

So then I found my old gold spray paint can( praying OH God I hope I don't have to buy a new one cause the spray thingy is clogged. I hate school projects cause you spend so much money on art supplies just to throw it away later)
I used it to recycle a old piece of furniture. Thankfully it worked but just a little, enough for him to spray his masterpiece.

Then came the art work and he had to paint on all the lines the eyes.
Then we had to figure out how to present it.
The dollar store had great framed canvasses. I thought hmmm.
If you inverse it, it makes a fine frame.
So we got black poster board the framed canvass and it was off to finish the project.

It is so hard to get teenagers to spend time with you, so I had great time helping my son to figure things out without actually doing anything lol
He appreciated it, cause to leave it the way it was, just with the play dough, was not going to work.lol

He glued the poster board into the back of the framed canvass and then the King Tut Mask onto that.
It dried over night and Voila..... an A grade on something he himself was surprised to have achieved and something he was very proud of himself.

This piece is sure to be something I want framed and put in his room.
