Cape Crew

OK
Now I have two sets done.

One set that's knitted and one set that is crocheted.

The hat for the crochet cape took one hour to make. It was soo easy and it's soo cute with shell designs.
They both have matching crochet flowers to go with them.

The knitted set is much warmer since the holes are smaller.
Its supposed to be good for up to 4 year olds.

I still have thread left over from the big roll to make another hat if I want to but I think I have done enough lol

My son is upset cause he says I make things no one wears so he wants a cape.
I told him I only have pink thread and he said he didn't care. He will wear it. lol
I find ponchos or capes extremely comfortable for weather that requires layering.
BC has that type of climate. You can wear a jacket and slip it over and the warmth is amazing.
And if it's raining well , a cape is good because it will take a while to soak through.

Well when my son has a daughter some day, She will have her Grammas stuff to wear. By then I will probably not be in any condition to do these things, knowing him.....if he gets any children that is. One never knows what lies ahead in life.

In the mean time, from Lions brand, I found a very nice mens' cape pattern but I need the longer circular needles for it because it has a lot of stitching on it. Its easier to make things for little ones because the work is done quicker and it costs less and I already had the needles. I used six of them to make the seamless circle.
I will have to rummage through the colors I have and see if I can design something for him.

It will NOT be pink lol

Today I have curry chicken marinated overnightfor supper and this morning I put lamb to marinate in curry overnight for tomorrow, with yogurt and garlic.
Curry is supposed to be good for you.
We used to eat such good curry lamb at this restaurant and I have yet to find out how they did it.
It was so popular that they would always run out. Then they changed the chef and we could not get it for a while.
Once we asked if they had it and they said yes but when we received it, it looked funny. We analyzed the meat and saw that they collected leftovers from other peoples plates and gave it to us to eat. lol
That's just as bad as the meat glue they put into meat today.
Needless to say, we never went back.

Today people get sick and no one knows why.
Well, here are two possible reasons.
Have a great Thursday every one.

hats hats hats

Sometimes watching TV can be rewarding.
As long as your hands are busy funny things happen.

Your stock grows.... and grows.....and grows.
Before you know it, bureaus get full of your own made stuff
and one day they will make great personal gifts.

The little green yellow and off white hat was already nationalized by my son
He loves it lol It is done with both knitting and crocheting.
but I have to finish the scarf that goes with it. It needs a few more rows to get the length I want.
It is also green but I cannot find the right shade of green for it, so it is WAY behind schedule.

I do these projects with left over thread But then, like with the green hat, I will have again a lot of left over thread from another roll I need to buy to finish the scarf It will be enough to make another hat and scarf set with .
And so it goes.......

A Birch Eye View

I spent my week end continuing making hats and scarves.
I have 6 sets and all different. Can't get myself to pick up a camera though
to make a collage Maybe later. lol
My son gets 2 in the green color cause those are his school colors.
I have one green scarf left to make for him
Now I have to go to the dollar store and see if I can get those dollar gloves to include in the sets.
They are very nice and hardly worth making for that price although my son would like those
fingerless wrist warmers and those all you need is to buy woolen tube socks and cut off the feet part. The feet part can be sewed up and crocheted around to make nice slippers and the top is ready to wear without much fuss. On the soccer field it will be cold and every little bit helps.

Other than that I love Birch Trees. I can't get over that they can be used to write on and when I was a kid people would go into birch areas to pick wild mushrooms. Those were the days.

My Dad and I would go very early in the morning and bring back 2 x 50 pound potato bags full.
Then the rest of the morning would be spent sorting cleaning, cooking and canning. It had to be done fast before the mushrooms spoiled.
This my Mom was great at. Canning was her specialty. We would have tons of pickled mushrooms for winter and they were good. Sometimes we'd eat them out of the jar and sometimes we'd fry them with eggs or onions with sour creme. They made for a lovely condiment.

These are days when I really miss my parents. They did so many crazy things lol
and I remember every day so vividly like they happened yesterday. There is nothing nicer than working like a family team. Today we don't have families like this anymore.
Reminds me of the Waltons.
Well, here's a few puns.
I found one yesterday on CNN : Police shoot dead dog for biting.lol

When asked where is the problem he answered the problem is in my hat.
