Chop Chop

I have been watching cooking shows and I can't imagine how much work is put into some of these dishes.
The amount of work some of these chefs do is incredible.

We the public, sit and enjoying flavors, having no idea how much creative work is put in to them.

I love chops sticks.
I love collecting and eating with them.

They are a lot of fun and I always remember Mr Miyagi on the Karate Kid,who caught flies with them.

Some Chinese traditions are worth keeping although I did read some people complain about how many trees are destroyed supplying all these chopsticks to restaurants.

Since I have been knitting and these chop sticks were lying beside me, I thought, what if I did put the other end into a pencil sharpener?
Would I get double pointed needles I could knit with?
The more you use the wood the easier it becomes to knit, as the wood becomes slippery


Well now I have an idea on how to recycle chop sticks.
Next time you eat with them, take them home and sharpen them and give them as a gift to a knitter.

Or you can collect them and use them for projects instead of bamboo sticks..
Use them to build bird houses, cages, cup holders ...
Such a wide variety of things can be created using these nice little pieces of wood.

A lady sees some Chinese characters on a Chinese menu. She likes them, so she goes home and makes a shirt with the symbols on it. Later that day, she bumps into a Chinese person. The person looks at her and says "Do you know what your shirt says?" The lady admits that she doesn't know and asks the man to translate. The man says, "Your shirt says 'cheap but good'."

Success!!

This is my first attempt at making a sockette with a heel.

Usually I make thick tube socks for winter to sit beside the fireplace
which are much easier to do.

But now I know how easy it is and quick to make sockettes.

Oh I know , they are a dime a dozen at the store but these are thick and handmade and have 20% wool in them.
It's something to do at night watching TV.

So why not?
I can make a ton of them for Christmas and then just think about how to decorate them, embroider names, that kind of thing.

I still would like to make a few embroidery projects.
I remember my grandmother making such beautiful embroidered pillow cases
with roses and such. Today its simple. They sell you printed patterns to follow.
She just had an outline and hade to do the shading part inside on her own.
They also used silk thread which is hard to get nowadays.
Oh well.


I sent an Angel to watch over you last night.
It came back.
I asked it why?
It said Angels don't watch over angels.

Thailand Elephant Chair

I got one for myself because I thought it would be a great conversation piece when I got back home.
I had no idea I would be using it for a crib but it sure paid off.

You use foam for the mattress and to put around the sides.
Like a baby basket (which I also made with lace and padding to bring my baby home from the hospital) you can turn it into something truly joyous.

The open side you place against the wall. There is more than enough room for a baby to sleep in for about 2-3 even 4 years but usually after 1 1/2 they tend to go into either a bunk, twin or a double bed and then you are left with a crib you have no use for.

The Elephant chair could be used as a coffee table, which it is now and I also used it for decoration and picture taking.
It is great to put in a doll display, stuffed toys. books, magazines and other displays you want people to see through glass.

Fill it with cushions and kids will still like to climb into it to watch TV, imagining they are sitting atop a huge elephant.

Before long, you find them curled up and sleeping like angels.
They never have nightmares sleeping in this ol chair because so many stories can be invented sitting beside it, and they go to sleep, heroes on a great adventure. (Like something out of a Never Ending Story)

If you have guests with babies, well the good ol elephant chair becomes a crib again because it is so easy to store the padding for it.

Anyway... this is my elephant chair. I enjoyed it so much and have great memories from it.

And besides.....you never know when an elephant may decide to pop in and give you a ride .lol

Little Crochet Blue Boy Blanky

Most of the other stuff is for girls.
As you can see I wish to have a little girl
since I love making dresses and
LITTLE girls love wearing them.
They all look so cute you want to gobble them up.:)

This blanky is for a boy.
I am quite proud of it as well.
It looks great in a crib.

Instead of buying a crib I used
an elephant chair for a new born,
which later can be transformed into
a very nice living room table
by putting a glass top over it.
Also if you have visitors with babies,
they can use it as well anytime, since
it's easy to take a top off a table.
An Elephant chair is also a great topic of discussion. Not too many kids have Elephant Chairs for beds.

Baby Sweater

This also came out quite nice in matt and shiny
white thread. The pom poms were made out of
a tan shade to give it some contrast.
It is gorgeous and I am so happy with it.
It is hard to take pictures though.
I still need to put a few buttons.
