Ocean Gold

These sea urchins are one golden opportunity to catch when hunger strikes you.
They were selling them 3 for 9 dollars.
What you have to do is cut around the top where the mouth is and pull everything out.
Then you chop up the meat and fry it with eggs for break fast.
Here they gave it to you in sliced pieces with lemon.
They were very good.
You would not want to step on one of them in the water because the needles are quite sharp
and have venomous spines and pedicellaria.
The spines give you very painful wounds and the pedicellaria which are in between the spines have venom. Both result in a lot of pain and even infection which can even result in paralysis
fatigue, death, respiratory problems. So even touching them with your hands can be risky if you let it.

The urchins here seem to be small but some have spines that are 8 inches long and if you are a diver, you don't want to bump into them any more than you want to bump into jelly fish.

In any event what fishermen bring in their boats to show the people is indeed interesting and worth going to Steveston to see what they come up with next.

A man is skydiving off the coast of Florida, enjoying his free-fall. When he reaches the altitude where he must open his parachute, he pulls on the rip cord but nothing happens. "No problem," he says to himself, "I still have my emergency chute." So he pulls the emergency parachute, and once again, nothing happens. Now the man begins to panic. "What am I going to do?" he thinks, "It's curtains for me!" Just then he sees a sailor flying up from the earth toward him. He can't figure out where this man is coming from, or what he's doing, but he thinks to himself, "Maybe he can help me." When the man gets close enough to him, the skydiver cups his hands and shouts down, "Hey, do you know anything about parachutes?" The flying sailor replies, "No! Do you know anything about gas stoves?"

Two old men, Bill and Joe, were sitting on a porch reminiscing about World War II.
“It was a real struggle,” said Bill.
“I know what you mean,” said Joe.
“I remember I was struggling all the way. I fought and I fought, and I fought, and when I thought I was tired out, I found the strength to carry on fighting another day.”
“Yup.”
“But it didn’t matter, because in the end they made me join the Army anyway.”...

Oh, those images of the sea urchins bring back memories of the summers of my childhood, when we traveled down to the Mediterranean sea.;)
Thank you for a great laugh as well.;))
