Getting to Know You.

Supper was without a doubt interesting as James brought a good ol
fashioned Poulet BBQ already seasoned and cooked.
We just had to warm it up
and make a few boiled potatoes and carrots to go with a nice Chardonnay.

It was nice to have someone to chat with on the cabin veranda.

So do you have any brothers and sisters? he inquired.

Yes. I have a brother in Calgary. He's a High School Science Teacher
and I have a Sister in some kind of Law Clerk business.
I'm the black sheep that ran away from it all.
My Dad runs a Sporting Goods Store and he seems to like it.
Mom helps him.
 You?

My brother is a vet and my parents run a small ranch.
They love horses and do the Equestrian horse show thing.
We have some nice Hanoverian jumpers and we breed and sell horses too.
They also keep a few cows.

Seems almost a shame when they kill so many horses just for being wild.
That's where I got Beau.

Oh ya?

Ya. He ran free in the wild and one day we just made friends but he is his own man.
Quirky. This is how we got into summer entertainment.
He would never listen and do his own thing so I used it for us to make a few bucks.
The people love coming to see him and he got some what spoiled by all the attention.

Do you know what breed he is?

No, I don't. Probably a Heinz 57 .

He's got a nice Arabian face though.

He stands 6.1  hands so he's not Arabian.
His back is not long so he's not a carriage horse and his hooves are
not very wide.. more for prairie running
and .....he has the temperament of a Mustang.
Likes to smile a lot.
But there is no horse I would trust more than my Beau.
He's got my heart, hook, line and sinker.

So I can't compete there . James joked.

No Siree Bob.No one stands even close to my Beau.
I teased.
The Chardonnay went down smooth as satin.
and it felt good just to sit there.I had to stop a yawn
creeping up on me.My eyes began to close.

I guess I better make up a bed for you before I get too sloshed.
Where did you sleep last time you were here?

Oh, I used the couch and Luke used the spare bedroom.

Ok so you can sleep there then.
I better turn in  since I have an early rise tomorrow.

I got out some warm blankets and gave them to him.

Just in case.

Al right. You don't mind if I sit a bit?

No, go ahead.

You know, you are the easiest person to get along with.

Am I?  You haven't seen me when I'm cross yet. I laughed.

No... I don't think you can ever get cross.
You just don't suit it.
I mean, I could be a serial killer and here you are, as nice as could be.

I think you are used to people being cross with you.
Besides, you don't know if I am a serial killer either.

I guess I'm not around too many people either. I am just like you.
I like to keep to myself and do my own thing.
So if anyone is cross with me, I don't know anything about it.

So, you are not a serial killer, right?

If I told ya, I'd have to kill ya. He joked.

Okee Dokey then. I won't tell you either.
G'night.

Good Night Eleanor.

Well this ended on a good note I thought.
I made sure to lock my door.

Before falling asleep I heard the door knob turn,
then a chuckle as he walked away.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up early dawn just in time for a happy James walking in with
4 sparkling bass hanging from a wire.

Woah! What have you been doing all night?
 Fishing?

Aren't they great? Perfect breakfast. he exclaimed.
I came to try to wake you but seems you were deep asleep.
I found your Bible here and it was either  reading that or go fishing
so I went fishing.
Is this how you pass your time at night?

I like to read up and sorta make sense of things. Like for example,
if most religions date  back to Abraham, then this is where we have to go
to find the discrepancies.

For instance the Jews and Christians follow Abraham through his wife Sarah and son Isaac.
The Muslims follow Abraham through a slave woman Haggar, who had  an older son, Ishmael, from Abraham.
Sarah sent Haggar and Ishmael away saying they will not get her son Isaacs' inheritance.
Ishmael made fun of her little son.

Haggar had to walk in the desert searching for water and she is the one who the Muslims commemorate in their pilgrimages to Mecca,  along with Ishmael, creating the possible source of the Lord's prophecy
“He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Gen. 16:12).)

Ishmael did grow to be strong, wild and free and because of what happened tp him, didn't get along with anyone, even his own kin. He  fought every one and it is unfortunately through him, that Muhammad  founded the Islamic religion, construed to be  pagan.
Muhammad made Jesus equal to him as a prophet, instead of agreeing Jesus was the son of God.
Muhammad thought himself to be greater than Jesus and created more rivalry and division between people, instead of the unity and love Jesus tried to teach.

Neither the Jews nor the Christians would follow his preaching so he tried to kill the Jesus message making Christians second class citizens, dispossessing the Jews, sanctifying fighting , vengeance and promoting a Holy War.

The Jews , Christians and Muslims will never unite because of Jesus, who Muhammad denies
as a deity . The incarnation, atonement, the crucifixion and the question of God as a triad, Father, Son and Spirit, will never be accepted by Islam even though they proclaim to be attached to Abraham.

And so we have the story  today with so much killing through out the Middle East and Africa.
This probably is why people there are not allowed to use his name or talk about him because they fear the truth coming out. Anyway , any one can become a prophet if he has enough people to believe in him but it does not mean he speaks for God.
God is one and will always represent love and loving someone, means not to cause pain and suffering but to work united for the better good.
Most of the world tries to do good. We send missionaries to Africa to teach the kids so they can grow and make a better country for themselves and then these guys come in and kill every one.

 http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/112053/jewish/Hagar.htm

Isn't that interesting. I never knew that....About Abraham that is.

The fish were sizzling on the frying pan.

I don't read the Bible much.
Don't go to church either but sitting out in the wild
I know that there is something ..... a lot more than we know or give credit
to.
It can't all be just that simple as Darwin and evolution.

We call God a creator and what is evolution anyway if not a creation?
We play with words, talking about the same things.

Look at what science is trying to do today with cloning for example
and when they try to create better plant specimens and animals to grow
with more or less meat and fat.
They create and new things evolve out of what they do.
Without creation, there can't be evolution.

You make some good points.
For sure evolution is some kind of creation.
It's a change. That's for sure.
It's not a total new beginning.

Anyway. People today don't care but they should.
I don't think we are alone out here.
I don't think we are ready to play God yet either.
So many things that we do working in the dark, might
have dire end results.
Going beyond perfection...where does it end up?

James looked at me and our eyes met .
It was like looking into the deep black chasms of our souls,
where all is hidden.

No one can underestimate the importance of Abraham to the three great monotheistic faiths of the world, but unlike Jews and Christians, Muslims claim their identity with Abraham through Hagar and Ishmael rather than through Sarah and Isaac. Muhammad sought to give legitimacy to Islam by identifying with Abraham and his other son, Ishmael. And this is the root of the alienation that exists between Christians and Muslims, both of whom claim to be the heirs of Abraham.
(Hagar is not mentioned by name in the Quran. But the Hadith, that is, the Traditions, correctly name her as the mother of Ishmael. In the pilgrim rites at Mecca, all Muslims re-enact Hagar's desperate search for water as they run between the hills of Safa and Marwa. The search is climaxed as they reach the well of Zamzam where they drink in memory of God's mercy to Hagar.)  Ishmael is mentioned several times in the Quran and is powerfully memorialized in the rites connected with the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
Taking a few steps back into the Bible and the story of Abraham, Isaac, Sara and Ishmael we know that Ishmael was the first-born.  Its too long a story to go into, but the crux of the story was when Sara got pregnant Ishmael made fun of his little half-brother. That was too much for Sarah. She made an irrevocable decision: ". . . Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac"  Hagar and Ishmael were provisioned and dismissed from service. Who can gage the depth of bitterness and resentment that must have filled the hearts of Hagar and Ishmael?
The source of the Lord's prophetic utterance (“He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Gen. 16:12).) concerning the behavior of Ishmael is rooted in these events.
Is there any linkage between the characteristics of Ishmael and that of Islam, which has embraced him as one of their patriarchs? As strange as it may seem, there may be. History seems to bear this out.
Hostility can either focus either inwardly, causing psychosomatically induced illnesses or suicidal tendencies, or it will project itself outward on some designated hate object. It can be triggered to commit acts of violence, either against a person (homicide) or against a people (genocide or war).
Ishmael's hostility and propensity to violence were rooted in the sin of his own scoffing and jealous attitude towards his brother Isaac. Muslims today are those in whom this vicious cycle has not been broken. They have voluntarily chosen to identify with Ishmael and have, consciously or unconsciously, embraced the spirit of that ancient and bitter rivalry. The present-day animosity of Islam towards Jews and Christians, in this author's opinion, can be traced to the Islamic embrace of the spirit of Ishmael.
Ishmael was to be strong, wild and free; and we might add, he also would be difficult, holding his brothers in contempt, despising town life, loving his freedom to the point of not being able to get along with his own kin or anyone else. As one commentary puts it: "The Ishmaelites live in an incessant state of feud . . . with one another or with their neighbours.
Unfortunately, from Ishmael's line sprung a man, Muhammad (570-632), who initially founded Islam as a religion for the Arab people. Later he tried to universalize it and impose it on all mankind. In Islam, Jesus is reduced to a mere prophet; and by making himself equal to Jesus and ultimately superior to Him, Muhammad perpetuated the spirit of rivalry, not reconciliation. The roots of this present-day alienation go back to the tragedy of events that led to the breakup of Abraham's family. Islam became the venue for the aggrieved and alienated members of this family to redress the shame of that early expulsion from the tents of Abraham. Even more than that, Islam is committed to the attempt to dominate the world.
Muhammad was a true descendant of Ishmael. While trying desperately to tie into the genealogical tree of Biblical prophets, he fiercely maintained his independence as an "Arab prophet" with an "Arabic Qu’ran. He stoutly maintained that he was neither of the Jews nor the Christians but of the "Religion of Abraham". In taking this position, Muhammad, attempting to establish his own identity as a legitimate prophet, borrowed from the traditions of each, as well as separated himself from both. The final voice of God to the human race.
At first, Muhammad attempted to woo both Jews and Christians. When he was unsuccessful, as neither would subscribe to the idea of a pagan God, he not only turned away from them, but in the case of the Jews, after dispossessing two of the tribes, he banished them, and massacred all the men of a third tribe and made slaves of the women and children. In the case of the Christians, he also reduced them to second-class citizens (Dhimmis) and attempted to destroy the very heart of the Christian message. Having made himself odious to both Jews and Christians, Muhammad then took the step of enshrining violence forever among his followers by sanctifying vengeance (Q. 42:39) and fighting (Q. 2:216; 4:74; 9:5; 61:4). (There are more than fifty separate references in the Quran on the duties and conditions of Holy War).
In some mysterious way, it appears that the characteristics of Ishmael, as described in Genesis 16:12, have survived to this day in the lives of those who have so closely identified with him through the life of Muhammad and his teachings in the religion of Islam.
As much as we would like to see Judaism, Christianity and Islam as branches of one big happy "family of Abraham," it cannot be. The stumbling block is Jesus Christ, the "seed of Abraham." The issue between Islam and Christianity has to do with the way Muslims have departed from the Scriptures and denigrated Christ. In fact, they have gone far beyond doctrinal differences; they have set up a rival religion that seeks to supplant Christianity.  Islam has taken an adamant stance against the very heart of the Gospel message, including denial of the deity of Christ, incarnation, atonement, the crucifixion and the question of God as Father, Son and Spirit.

Shattered Faith Renewed.

A week went by and things got back to routine.
I thought about James quite a few times but then tried to cast it aside.
What was the point?
I loved my life here.  I would be no different than the story of
|Gorillas in the Mist, except I had my own children, as well as the
children of the forest.
You got a blessing of freedom too, where no one cared what you did.
No laws to shovel snow off your sidewalk.
No laws as to how you had to walk or where.
No red lights. No traffic tickets. No nosy neighbors to bother or to
bother you. No utility bills to pay.No politics to contend with.
Listening to news every day was hell enough to live in.

You got by and the animals got by living off the land  and what a beautiful
country it was.
Your mind slept in true peace without being polluted by noise and electricity.
If you needed noise, well there was always something you could listen to or watch
using solar, wind and water power.

I managed to have a collection of tapes and discs from city life I kept for such occasions
but who needed them?
I had my art work, knitting, books, sitting by a crackling fire and a sky full of the
 brightest stars and moon..
Sometimes I'd sit outside by a small camp fire and a shooting star would fall somewhere in the distance.
The forest creaked as the wind swooshed through it in winter and in the summer
leaves rustled in the trees and squirrels chirped brightening up the landscape..
You'd hear wood peckers and the river and the morning cock crow.
It was enough to wrench the soul out of your body watching and experiencing all this
love, united by the splendor of all things.
Why would anyone want to leave all this?

After a month James was far from my mind.
Then I heard civilization in the flapping of helicopter wings
in a nearby field and there he was again.

Hello there gorgeous!
Was in the neighborhood and thought you could use some company.

I laughed. Sure . Anytime.
We shook hands and walked toward the cabin.

I got you some supplies. Goodies if you want to call them.

James began to unload his heavy canvas bag which was full of staples,
wine, cheese, flour, butter, oil,  sugar, lemon juice, spices, salt,
canned tomatoes, crackers, canned tuna and sardines, macaroni, dried fruit. nuts...

Ah you didn't have to do all that.

Sure I did. I cook here, so I need stuff to cook  he laughed.
Besides , how much can a little Harley carry?
If anything, I saved you a trip.
I got another bag with potatoes, onions and garlic.

Gosh you don't cook that much.
I mean how many times have you been here, like 2?
So are you a professional Chef too? I chuckled.

Want some coffee?

Sure would love a cup.

Ahh..... he sighed.
I never knew I would look forward to coming to this place as much as I do.
It kinda grows on you doesn't it?

Yup. Once you get the bug, it never goes away.
but you must see nicer places up in Alaska.

Sure . It's nice up there too but C O L D!! Brrrrr. and the flies kinda feast on you.
Then there are the bears and wolves...
Don't you have any here?

Well I've come across a wolf who really became my friend and a cougar....
which by the way
I have not seen since but so far no bears thank God!

Oh Looky here! Carrots for my Chou Chou.

James ran out to the barn to see the cows and I ran after him.
We were like kids having fun with the animals.
Beaus' eyes targeted the carrots and he crowded next to all the cows to get some from
James who just delighted in feeding them treats.

" Hey guys... Miss me? " he cooed at them in between licks and crunches.

So what do you do up there in Alaska? I asked.

Well, mostly scientific stuff. I don't know if you heard about the Denali fault line up there.
There is a place called the Wickersham Wall, which rose 15,000 feet from its base, from all the earth quakes they have been having lately.

Oh!. How scary.

Ya it i s actually but it spared most of the Alaskan cities thank fully.
This happened in 2002 and waves came up all the way to Seattle from a 7.9 earthquake
and even reached Texas and Louisiana.
It cut through glaciers, divided forests , cut streams, roads...

They have volcanoes in Iceland and Green land as well which have to be kept an eye out for.\

Wow! and here I was thinking I was safe up here.

James was patting Beau.
Well, you know, where are you safe these days anyway?

I was thinking about our little talk before I left and it rang true in so many ways.
We are all at Gods' mercy  and no where do we know it more, than out here in Gods' country.

We  both stood in holy silence partaking in it all , like Mary and Joseph,in a lowly stable ,
surrounded by animals.
We are all visitors here and when your time is up, it is up.

Happy Easter.

Rhymes With Plague had this on his blog and I liked it
so I copied it and put it on mine.

Today we need God more than ever because if we put
our souls into mans' hands, we will forever be lost.

Hope every one has a wonderful week end.

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of Glory died;
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ, my God;
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were an offering far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

The following poem, written recently by Daniel Jepsen, can be sung to the tune of Londonderry Air. It was published today at the internetmonk website:

Amazing Grace, It Reached As Far As Me

When time was young, and glory filled the garden,
The man and wife refused their perfect place.
Yet in Your wrath, your mercy spoke a promise,
And clothed their sins in garments of your grace.

And I like them, have tasted fruit forbidden
And raised my fist against my Lord above.
Oh strip away the rags of my rebellion,
And clothe me with Thy Holy robe of love.

And on the Rock, you placed Your very presence
When streams of life flowed from the stricken stone
You bore Yourself the price of their rebellion
Their thirst to slake, their sin-guilt to atone.

Thirsty I come, to You the living water
And find a spring, abundant, clear and free
You quench my thirst with rivers of salvation
You save my soul with fountains of mercy.

You gave a day, a day of your atonement
When the High Priest would slay the sacrifice.
And all the sins were taken from your presence
You dwelt with men, by blood the only price.

Guilty I come, and tremble in Your presence
Yet see my guilt placed on a substitute!
I stand and praise my God and my redeemer
He sits and hears the worship He is due.

Then one dark day, the symbols found fulfillment
As all our sin was placed upon Your head
The Rock was struck, and blood came forth to cleanse us
Instead of death, Your tree brought life instead!

I will forever lift my eyes to Calvary,
to see the cross where Jesus died for me.
How marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul:
You looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.

For three dark days, the Seed in earth was buried
But breaking forth, that Seed gave birth to life
The firstfruit of that mighty, kingdom harvest
Which heals all hurts, and takes away all strife

I shall arise with Christ my risen Sovereign
And reign with Him through all eternity
What wondrous love, that makes our Judge our Father
Amazing grace, it reached as far as me
Amazing grace, it reached as far as me!

What's a Place Like You, Doing in a Girl Like this?

Hey Bob!

Eleanor. Good to see you.

See the store is doing good.

Can't complain. You came in to do some shopping?

Ya , always need supplies. Did you find those guys I called you about?

You know , we sent a helicopter but we found no ski doos or people.
Or cow for that matter. You said you gave them a cow?

Ya . They wanted a horse but I couldn't give them Beau and I was
scared there for a while they might insist.
I got home late chasing those cows and ended up sleeping in the barn.
I was so tired and there was a cougar stalking us and then Yawny came and
chased it.

Yawny? Who's Yawny?

Oh it's this wolf that shared our campfire the night before.
He got scared of the skidoos wouldn't you know.
He was gorgeous, with this huge golden mane.
We lucked out the animals and I. Anyway, these men slept in my cabin and
made themselves at home. The whole thing is bizarre.

They left with the cow though thank fully and I called you to tell you.

Hmmm. Guess this is a police matter.
You said two people were missing on the skidoo?

That's what they said. We were about 12 miles out when I did
hear skidoos in the dark and a bunch of guys hootin and hollerin.
I was thinking that it wasn't a good thing to do this time of year
with so much risk of avalanche. You think there was one?

We did not have any reports but hey, it's the Rockies.

I laughed. Ya. That says it all doesn't it.
Well looks like I'm out a cow.
They should have reached some kin in Bear Mountain by now if nothing else.

Ah, hate to tell you girl but no one lives up there.

Well this is getting weirder and weirder every minute.
I don't know what to think.

Well I guess the first thing to do is report a missing cow and
the names of these two fellas you met.

 -------------------------------------------

After a few hours at the police station the journey home was swift.
Dad's old Harley putted away telling every one not to mess with it .
The side car was filled to the brim with supplies.

As I got closer I saw the chimney of my cabin being used again.
This is beginning to become a habit with people coming up here I thought.

As I neared the front door, it opened and a smiling face appeared.

Hi! Remember me? James? James French?

I got off the bike and gently took off the helmet.

Why yes. You are the man who stole my cow.

We shook hands.

Oh hardly. I hope you didn't think that.
In any event she is in the barn with the other 5 cows as good as new.

Well I didn't know what to think.
The cow was missing since spring and a search didn't find anyone in
the area you said you were going.

I headed for the barn and sure enough there was Chou Chou, fat and healthy.
I walked out and unceremoniously shut the barn door.

So how did you come this time?

Oh, by helicopter.

My friends apparently were not lost and sent one out to find us he laughed.
By then we were almost 1/2 way up Bear Mountain where we set up our camp.
Well they rustled us in and strapped Chou Chou underneath and we flew home.

We had the wedding the next day. Luke went on his honeymoon and I had to rush to my scientific expedition to Alaska, which I couldn't miss.
My parents watched Chou Chou and became very fond of her.
Now I am back and decided I had better return her to you.
As they say better late than never.
I can't thank you enough for all your help.

We walked slow to the cabin and inside, just like last time there
was coffee and a casserole on the table.

I took the liberty to make something since you were not home.
I fed the horse, cows and chickens and I see you have a few bunnies as well.

Yes, they are new additions, gifts.

Well then, I guess you are all set.
We sat and ate slowly.

Guess it's time for me to go.
Once again thank you for your hospitality.

James shook my hand. His fingers were long and gentle .
His face looked cool, tanned as he looked out from behind his
curly locks of wind swept black hair
Must be he spent a lot of time outside.

May I ask what a girl like you is doing all by herself in the wilderness?

Well I guess I am here for what most people go out into the wilderness for.
Peace....nature religion. I like it here.
Basically I find people ... are hard to live with.

Have you been following the news?
This guy Lunney is leaving the Tory Party because he feels his faith is attacked.
He should have been shown respect and given an opportunity to talk. --

Religion is not for everyone.
One has to understand philosophy science and to believe something on
faith to be true without proof.
Today many do not understand anything except sex and drugs.

Oh Well That's not fair. James interjected.

Well, Judge for yourself.
Today, people put value in what is owed them instead of what they can
do to be good and generous with their time and money and learning because it
is the right thing to do.
We would need no laws if man behaved properly.
Just think of all the lawyers and judges who would be out of business today.

We need open discussion which is what law is all about.

I know but what kind of discussion can we have if every one in government consists of the same people and have no faith?
What kind of leaders do they make if we elect criminals and
addicts and sexual deviants,
in the closet of course, to make our laws?

 People are not soulful anymore.
People are not humble to understand that nothing is owed to them and
tomorrow each and every one of them could be bullied into understanding
that nothing they say or do has any meaning.
They are paid to spew hot air and waste tax payers money and this
could end at any time.
They can laugh today and live homeless tomorrow. No one is immune.

That's right so we need society and laws.

 I smiled.

People put more value in man made laws rather than into justice and
in doing the right thing. How can anyone put trust in any politician to
talk for the community he represents, if he is not allowed to speak for
it or to it. Remember ... separation of Church and State?

 Ya but we need that.

Why, so other people except Christians, use it?
The Christian religion is an enlightened religion.
This does not mean it is perfect because it is run by men who struggle every day
debating in what is good and right. People believe in God, for the goodness he
represents and for the spiritual food he feeds to replenish souls, to give them
hope in the future of mankind..

So do laws, courts and the justice system.

Politicians, judges, lawyers, kill hope every day in this world by fighting to
win cases which are wrong for what man's physical body and mind was
not designed for and when they win, they feed cruelty and damage innocent
souls just by being exposed to them.

Take for example what we believe in today.
A person led every one to believe sex is the most important thing to man .
He said it without a shred of truth in what he said and people jumped to believe him.
Why not? What is the purpose they all liked that reasoning?
It's no different than what Muslims are led to believe when they suicide bomb.

The truth is, that Life is more important followed by love .
Without life and love, there can be no sex.
A person would not survive to maturity to have it.

Today we hear excuses: "It was only sex."
People demean their bodies and souls every day when they live this way and
think it is acceptable because the law says it's ok.but then society is left to
carry the burden of this behavior and one day it will be intolerable and unaffordable
and then every one will fall into disgrace and misery and fight wars as an excuse
to kill if disease doesn't, which is what was being done throughout time to
 curb population growth.

So I take it you are Conservative James kidded.

I guess I am. I don't much value grouping though.

The law and science can say many things but it doesn't mean it is right or true.
We find proof of these things every day in science that nothing is,as we say it is.

We call a supreme being "divine" because of the limitless knowledge and experience
that comes with being divine. No man or prophet on this earth compares or has
a right to speak in its' name, except to do good because God is a creator.

This we can conclude ourselves because we see man,
is not a very good animal for this planet.
 We should all be dead.

But we're not so we must be doing something right.

True, but we are always fighting, when we don't have to.
Man is limited but he can be divine through the spirit which never dies.
Man also consists of positive and negative energy and positive energy
deals with the light. It does not hide behind veils, shadows and darkness
where bad things happen and still do under other religions and between people.

Everything that may have been created does not mean it evolved here on this
planet, inclusive of man. We have no absolute proof of anything, only studies.

 Well we have some proof.

No, we don't. We believe we have proof, just as people believe there is a
God. Science is not any better than faith in what we do not see.
Science is limited , as man is limited and it does not see as a divine God sees.
We are all running in circles instead of walking
the straight line of truth.
We would have a cure for cancer but we don't after how many years of study?
We would not have cancers, if we lived right.

We threw away the 10 Commandments and put in Human Rights and what happened?
Under Human Rights, inhuman acts are defended and protected and
let free to do more damage.

Today, people cry asking why Lufthansa allowed a crazy person to fly a plane?
Well, under Human Rights, they cannot stop a crazy person from flying
a plane full of people.
People have rights to be crazy and free and employed.
The definition of "crazy" has been lifted out of psychiatry because every one
is crazy. The craziest of all are these psychiatrists.
I laughed.

Guantanamo Bay kept criminal, fanatical men and then set them free as well to do more harm.

Apparently they were not guilty.

No? Then why the sudden turmoil and killing that began right after they were all let go?

What makes a person Human if not the soul which separates us from animals?
Even animals today have more soul than some people do.

An animal would not scorn God in government especially when God is the ultimate truth.
 So why does man?
 Does he know everything?
Man has a false sense of security . He has a false sense  of entitlement. He has a false sense of control.
Man has nothing except the ability to think his way through some effects, which he is alone responsible for causing.
So he creates false images, design, laws ... to hide his ineffectiveness and
incompetence.
The truth however doesn't change. It stands there barefaced and raw looking at him.
So man turns his head not to look at truth and when he does this, he loses himself and his soul.

Look at this other case where Jean Wabafiyebazu was killed after the guys  drove their mother's BMW — with diplomatic plates — to the scene of the crime. Marc, his brother, waited outside when  gunfire broke out inside the  apartment complex.  Roxanne Dube, their mother, served as ambassador to Zimbabwe from 2005 to 2008 and began her Miami posting as Canada's consul general only six weeks ago.
The story goes this guy, Anthony Rodriguez, brought two pounds of marijuana to the house and tried to sell it. So now two people are dead and Marc also faces charges of threatening a police officer saying he would shoot a detective in the head.
Some nice kid from a good family eh?

Now in Montreal, 500 Asian women smuggled in for a prostitution ring.
The RCMP broke two cells arresting 6 people. The papers are full of such interesting news.

Ya but they caught them didn't they?

Sure. They caught them but things like this should not happen if mankind was taught about Life
and Love more than they are taught about sex and other things in the distorted way they teach today.
You know , schools don't tell the parents what kids do today?
Parents have become the bad guys instead of the role models and leaders kids could trust and love.

All I am saying is that if God spoke for mankind, as we speak for animals who cannot represent themselves on this planet, we would not exist today.
We need to thank God for allowing us time to learn, but it won't be for ever.
Now do you understand why I like it here?

James smiled.
I can see that you are a lovely person and that it is very pretty out here.
So unless you want me to spend the night, I better hurry before it gets very dark.
I'd like to come back and continue this conversation later if you don't mind.
I smiled back.
Thanks again. and off he went.

I stood there like a straight board, stupified at what just happened.
Imagine bringing a cow in by helicopter and a big helicopter at that and he was flying it.
 Within seconds it was gone.
I unpacked the groceries blubbering to myself at what an idiot I was disclosing so much about myself.and went to my secret room.

Mother hen to rooster. Mother hen to rooster.

Ya.  Hi Henny Penny. What up?

I got my cow back Bob. She flew in by copter. They took her out by copter too.

 Really?

Ya they had a camp up on Bear Mountain and everything is ok.

Tell you all about it next time I see you.

Ok Glad to hear you got your cow back. Don't be a stranger, be safe and keep in touch.
 Rooster out.
I locked up and headed straight for bed.
Needless to say, my dreams were full of the handsome James French and his must be full of
Loony Eleanor.

A Horse! A Horse! A Kingdom for a Horse!

Here come the clowns.

Beau and I had the best clown entertainment every
summer and fall week end. Tourists came in from
cities to small towns such as what we had here up north.

Community Fairs made money staging horse and cowboy shows,
old gift shop saloons, crafts sold by the local people such as myself.
Then of course there was tons of food to be had,
fishing from small swimming pools for the kids,
Ball games, country dances and old parlor music.
Petting stalls were put in for the small folk and an
amusement center with cotton candy and pop corn.
The teens had the outdoor movies to watch from their cars then of course
we always had bands come in for the big long week ends.

People had a hootin good time while filling the hotels
with lots of loot to survive the winter.
I would make posters to invite them in for the horse performance
and Beau would do his best to annoy me while
every one else giggled and laughed to no end.

clowns

We always had a ball Beau and I.
Then he would show his prowess at dangling me upside down,
imitating me walking like a soldier and then sitting and pretending
he was an angel when I'd look. He'd turn my umbrella inside out when
I pretended to hide under it from the rain so I'd get wet.
In the end he would bow down and sit and thank the audience by
waving his hoof, with a toothy smile, to tell them to come again.
He pretended to fart when we would bow, bum to bum and then
show a toothy smile. The public loved it.

They adored him and would always ask to pat him.
After the show I'd take him to the public and Beau
would have more than his fare share of lovin and ego boosting.
They'd ask how I trained this horse to do the things he does.
I'd answer:

Train? When in doubt, I always let my horse do the thinkin .

These made for great, clean fun  memories and left the public
mesmerized wondering what this horse will think of next.

Tidy Flowers

"Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves is heard in our land."
 Song of Solomon 2:12

hyacinth anemone  and bumblebee

Proverbs 16:7

When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even
his enemies to be at peace with him.

The hot house was budding. Flowers were sprouting and
the odd bee was seen already at work on them.
It was a good idea to surround the place with used hay
to keep the warmth inside and yet provide the sunlight
in the day time.
It didn't smell the best but did the job.
In winter one could see the smoke coming out of the hay pile
 when the sun came out
Now in spring, the hay could be mixed with soil and put back as fertilizer
in the garden outside.
Nothing is better for roses than used hay to keep the roots warm too.

Empty 12 inch pots were waiting for composted earth and
I had plenty of it to fill them with.I'd use grocery store boxes when I could.
I lived too far away to collect them but making bags from old clothing to fill
with soil was good since you didn't have to worry about them like plastic.
People were good and donated a lot knowing I was out here by myself, thanks to
Pastor Gibbons..

I checked on my grape vines. They were budding.
Pinto beans and mixed dry beans from the grocery store were waiting
to try their luck in the pots.Corn. All could be started in March and planted
into the outside garden in June so birds did not eat the seeds.

Seed potatoes were good to grow in material tires sewn together and
 filled with soil.
They were easy to empty as well. One could grow them practically all winter
 in the hot house.
Tomato bags had to hold 50 lbs at least but if you hung them upside down,
the tomatoes would grow down. Large rice bags could do the job very nicely.
You had the advantage of the forest trees to
help you hang things from out of reach of the little critters like rabbits and mice.
25 plants had me stocked with tomato jars for most of the winter.
Black berry bushes made me lots of jam for my sweet tooth. They grew out here like
weeds.

Living out here, one tries a lot of new things to scrimp to
 save time and money.
Dreaming, designing ideas, took half the morning to play with.

I concocted a manual air tire pump to suck air out of a hose dipped into the river.
It was fun to use and you felt like you were syphoning gas out of a car tank.
It gave me what water I needed without having to run around with buckets.

A little technology never hurt but it took some getting used to no lights at night.
Electricity was hard to come by and the radio was my sole life support so the batteries
always had to be charged using what water current and sun I had.

With Gods' will and a bit of old Irish luck, you can live the best of lives in peace and
harmony with the land. It also left you with time to do the other things you wanted to do
like read, paint, do craft work, do my shows with Beau, ....chase cows .....

I'd sell my stuff in the summer/fall and it kept me going for another year.
Bob kept me updated as to what
was going on where. He was a very good and loyal friend to have.
I counted my blessings every day.

Story time

< Woke up to another day, still in the barn.
Never  made it to the house.
I realize that this was some kind of tired last night
that over took me but I was in no hurry to leave anyway
knowing there was a cougar prowling around.
I slept well. Could have knocked me over the head
and I would not have known.

Outside the chickadees were having a field day chirping
away.
Yawning, I stretched my hand out to feel a big soft nose.
Beau was standing over me checking me out.

It's nice waking up like this with you boy at my side.
Hello Beau Beau. How you feelin?

I smiled and stood up brushing myself off.
My legs felt like shit.

I opened the doors to the coral and let out my children.
Then came the hayin and the barn cleaning and the waterin, the hoof cleanin.
chickens were let out to strut in the hen house and fed, eggs collected.
As I finally headed towards the cabin that I made my home, I noticed
the chimney smoking.
It took me by surprise.
Who could be in there?

The door squeeked as I gently pushed it open.

Ah.... excuse me..... do I know you? I asked?
Two men sat at the table helping themselves to breakfast
of bacon and eggs. They looked very much at ease.

Oh Hi!
We came late last night and the door was open, the cabin empty...
 Are you Eleanor Walker?

Yes. Yes I am. Who are you?

I am James French and this here is my friend Luke Jenkins.
We're from Yellow Falls.

Yes....

Well....... come and sit down and help yourself to some of your coffee.
he smirked.
Can I make you some eggs and bacon? Luke  offered.

Ah No... but I'll have some coffee. I tried to sound genteel.

James poured me a cup and I sat down waiting for an explanation
for this intrusion of privacy.

Like I said , we came last night and the cabin was empty.
We were tired. Hope you don't mind that we made ourselves at home.
We are headed up to Bear Mountain. We have family up there.

How did you come? I don't see horses or cars.

Oh, we came by ski doo.

Oh so you are the jerks making so much noise up in avalanche country.
Do you know you could have been killed this time of year when
snow is melting?

James looked at Luke sheepishly.
Well .... we were celebrating and kinda got carried away.
 Luke here is getting married
and we were having a bachelor party.
Thing is there were two ski doos but we seem to have lost the other one.
Two of our friends driving it are missing and we ran out of gas a stretch back
looking for them.

I huffed thinking to myself that I was not surprised but then
I found the story a bit far fetched.

We were just sitting here debating how we were going to go look for them.
Would you have a few horses we could borrow?

Oh... well I have a horse but he is a one man horse.

What does that mean?

Well... He is a sort of a show horse I make my living on.
I trained him a certain way and I am very careful with his legs and hoofs.
I dont ride him myself in these conditions.

I just walked him a stretch myself trying to get my cows back home.
They kinda strayed from their usual feeding ground.

Then I thought a bit and added... but if you need a kind of pack horse, I have a few cows
I can lend you.

C o w s ???

Yes . They are sturdy beef cows and they are used to me packing grub on them.
They can pull real well if you need a makeshift stretcher and I suppose they won't
buck either if you straddled them.  They are quite sedate where cows are concerned.
Have to say I lucked out with them.
I have a few pairs of snow shoes too but this time of year I don't think you will need them.

My mind was racing.
A little voice was telling me to get rid of these guys real quick before
 they show their true colors.
If I could convince them they were getting a good deal here......they might bite.

Luke and James looked at each other again .
Well I guess something is better than nothing.

Ya. I mean, you can load up on grub, warm jackets, shoes, blankets, bandages, ropes tent.

I have a kit set up for exactly such  an occasion. You never know when you will need one.
How about we go take a look?

I took the boys out to the barn and showed them what I had prepared to load on a cow.
I brought one of the new cows in and we loaded her up.

"Sorry kid. I know you must be tired but duty calls." I whispered in her ear.

By the way. This one I call Chou Chou. It's French for cabbage.
 I smiled.
She is real sweet. I gave her a big kiss on the schnoz.
This is a Bazardaise cow. I don't know if you know this breed but they are quite nice.

A sigh of relief was felt to the bottom of my feet when they finally trod out of sight.

I locked the door and headed for the secret room.
Yup, I have one for such occasions since we never lock doors when we leave.

I got out the emergency radio and hailed for outside help.
This is Mother Hen calling Rooster. Mother Hen calling Rooster. Come in Rooster.

Rooster.
Is that you Eleanor? What's up?

I have a situation Bob. Got a few fellows here who are looking for a lost skiddoo.
I sent them with one of my cows to search but I think you need to send out a
search party and find out what's going on.
I didn't want to be too nosy being alone out here.

Which way were they headed? They said they had kin on Bear Mountain.
They just left so you might find them around Angus' Pass.

Will do.

Ok be careful. I mean it Bob.
Theres' a cougar out there and he looks pretty mean.

All right Mother Hen.

Over and out.

I was finally able to relax having sent out a search crew to help these guys without exposing Beau and Molly or myself to more danger.
It could have been a  very delicate situation but I took heart in that
the chickadees were still chirping and good sign as
 the forest knows danger.
"He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." psalms 91:4

Yawny

I tie Molly to Beaus' saddle in hopes she would lead
the other 5 cows home.
As we begin our journey, I once again am conscious
of the spectacular beauty of the valley which now,
with the morning rays of the sun,
was bedazzled by diamonds in the ice crusted snow.
It was breath taking to behold.
Yawny was standing observing as well in the distance,
atop a small hill, sporting a full mane of  gold.

I named my wolf Yawny, as he had this nervous urge
to keep yawning when ever you spoke to him.
He was undecided as to what he wanted to do and it
took a lot out of him.
Every time my eyes searched the horizon, there he was.

Crow stayed nearby too. It's as though he wanted
 to know our destination
so he could visit, as we visited him.
I named him Kalanu.

The trek was slow. The cows behaved and the
sun gradually became hotter.
I had to stop and get off Beau, to un layer.
By noon, we found a small grassy area bereft of snow.
I thought it would be an admirable spot to rest and
give Beau and the cows something
 to munch on.
Sweat poured down my brow and taking off  my
wide brimmed hat, I try wiping myself off when
 I hear it.
A chill goes up and down my spine as I grab for my rifle.
There is nothing innocent about a hungry cougar
prowling around a group of cows or even people.

I head off towards the sound when cat calls began
to mix with growling and what seemed like
the beginning of a major battle.
There was Yawny, fur standing upright,
alongside a tree with an un repenting ,
well muscled , adult cougar in it.

I aimed and shot. The shot missed the cougar but
gave him incentive to high tail
it out of there with  Yawny at his heals.
I high tailed it back to Beau and Molly .

Ok guys. Sorry. We gotta go.

"No passing boat brought the truant back, though
more than one pair of eyes looked out for the bright
hair under the round hat; and sunset came, bringing
no Rose but the lovely color in the western sky."
Louisa May Alcott

I began a tug of war with a reluctant Molly who was
just beginning to enjoy her day. I was determined not to be
truant in my labor to get the cows home.
If I failed, spending another night outside, might
prove to be fatal.
Thank fully the other cows faithfully herded
 alongside Molly.

How I found them to begin with, was beyond explanation.
My Molly girl has to be grounded when she
gets home I thought.

I began talking to myself and was glad no one was
there to hear it and tell people
that I was close to losing it.

The only thing to fear is fear itself,  I explained to Beau.

Common Molly!!!

We need to adapt and find new ways to accomplish
our objective.
We can ignore the imagined risk and over come the
real risk if we have to.

I debated the pros and cons as to why the cougar
would decide to return and stalk us
as Yawny and Kalanu do. Unlike my friends though,
 this cougar meant business.

We got to a clear cut path winding through another treed area.
Plenty of places for a Cougar to hide here, I thought.

We're not far now Molly.
There is some nice fresh hay waiting for you guys if you could
only hurry it up a bit.

I pulled out my rifle again just in case Beau bolted on me.

The light of day was close to disappearing but there it was....
home!

I opened the gate of the coral and led my troupe through
 into the warmth and
coziness of the barn. It was only then that I felt
a strange pressure lift off
my heart and rest on the heavy weariness of my bones and joints,
from pulling two powerful and heavy animals.
I collapsed into a bundle of fresh hay throwing
my hat and lay there panting with closed eyes.

Slowly, after about 5 minutes, I got up.
There was still much to do but the animals all found their hay and
were content to be home.
I lit a gas lamp and sat admiring them, especially my Molly and Beau.

There is always something special when you raise
young whipper snappers from colt and calf.
They become a part of you, as you become a part of them.
To lose them, is like losing a part of yourself.

Then I thought about Yawny and what he did for us that day.
The world is full of guardian angels and they are always there
when you need them the most.
Hebrews 13-2 - Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Great Expectations

Dawn broke to a low full moon overlooking a foggy horizon.
Slow, dying embers and smoke filtered through the air.
Brother wolf had already departed, leaving me alone
to tend to the morning chores.
I shuffle through the bag I used for a pillow, for rustic supplies.
A bag of oats I decide to share with Beau, my faithful, loyal
 steed and companion.

Herb stuffed pork sausages and bacon soon sizzle on a refurbished
flame, topped with chopped onion and garlic.
A pot of badly needed coffee, warms my cold hands as I pour from it
into another metal cup absorbing the heat, equally as fast.

I feel the warmth trickle down my throat, saturating the insides of my torso.
The outside, feeling like taught dry hide covering a skeletal form of life,
begins to melt and feel more supple.

Life.... be it spiritual or physical, is felt all around me.
Solitude prevails.
I am totally alone in the wilderness and yet I feel
united, blessed, protected.
I am not alone. I am one with the forefathers of the forest.
They speak to me through the bristling brush and
the sway of old cedar.
A black crow watches from one of the lower branches,
before deciding to gingerly step toe on the ground, cocking its' head and
piercing eye, to have a better look.

 I smile.

 And?.........I ask him?
Do I meet with your approval?

He struts to and fro as cocky as a bird I have ever seen, protecting his domain.
I realize, that at this rate, I would run out of bread to share with visitors.
I rummage about in my bag again for flour specially crafted with raisins, for quick
meals and form some flat dough to pan in the fire.

I watch him stand over the piece I threw him.
He held it on the ground with one claw and slowly picked on it with his beak
as if he had all the time in the world.

It doesn't take long to make these flats breads and before I know it, I have 6 pieces
 to pack away.
The meat is filling and would keep me for the day.
If all goes well, I am going to make it home by night fall.
 Life, however, teaches one,
to always prepare for the worst and never to have expectations.
 Expectations are like pottery.
The harder you hold onto them, the quicker they crack.
Best to take it slow, one step at a time.

Beau was happy to have his body brushed of snow and a dry blanket thrown over him
under the western saddle.
I needed to keep him light, so we saddle a cow to act as a supply packhorse.
The sweet soul that she is, doesn't mind.
It's as if she understands survival, is deserving of traveling in a pack, where safety
 is measured in numbers.
Her name is Molly and I raised her from a calf.
Straying is one of her irksome traits and the reason behind our tour of Gods' beautiful
mountain temple.
Unfortunately she is also the leader, for other cows who decide to follow her.

The smell of wolf, must still linger in her nostrils as she had close encounters before.
One can't expect love, acceptance, commitment and respect,
when one has no understanding of concepts.
Cows don't have great expectations.
They are there to accept what ever befalls them.
Everything is a gift, a given... as life is a given.

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."  Isaiah 11:6
