HAPPY THANKSGIVING Week End CANADA

Another doodle for Thanks giving week end.
As you can see I love blue flowers.
Baby blue, or powder blue is not a color you see much of and not for long.

Never drew a turkey before either.
The first time I drew a duck was when I was 15.
A neighbor went duck hunting and I guess he got a lot of ducks so he gave a small one to my Dad
who showed it to me. It had beautiful colors on it and I was so sad to see it did not have a long life
and died still  relatively a baby.

So I laid it gently down on my desk and through tears, began to draw it.
You have a chance to observe how the feathers sit and blend into the body,
the texture of the legs, wing span, delicate features of the head.
A little bird, which should have been happily flying south for the winter, was lying on my table,
sorta like Snow White but bereft of life. I was unable to find any bullet holes though.

It was a very sad day for me . I never liked hunters in the fall and I liked them even less that day.
It was all I could do but wish I could give it the breath of life and watch it fly away.
Looking back,I lost count over how many animals I cried over and today I can't bring myself
to say good bye to any more.

My Dad found a falcon in the apple orchard one day. It was shot as well and one claw
was paralyzed and would not open So the poor thing couldn't hunt and was losing strength.
He brought it home wrapped in cloth.
I was surprised my Mom volunteered her dining room for it. She spread out newspaper all over the floor
and the whole week end we fed it bits of turkey. It ate most of the Thanks giving turkey, got strong and after three days, we let it go and it flew away. As it flew, it circled and looked back down at us, as if to say "Thank you".
We were always taught that birds thought our pupils were seeds and would peck them out, especially
wild birds like eagles and falcons. This was a wild falcon but it let us pet him and love him.
He was quite gracious and even polite. lol
No one got bit or clawed. He was even gentle taking the food from our hand.

Fall was a beautiful time of year with so much to do. My Dad was a very active man.
He never stopped and made life interesting cause we learned so much by his side.
Then again, we wanted to learn.

Well Ladies get movin and start cookin.

Have a good one!

Bonito relato.
Também não gosto de caçadores, e todas as crianças deveriam aprender amar os animais e a natureza.

Poor falcon. That archaic poster is too funny!

That's a great story about the falcon! Thanks for it. I never heard that one about wild birds plucking out the eyes of people.

Lorna Oh yes Chickens falcon eagles, crows
You have to watch them all. They all peck at eyes. Never put babies around them and kids really should wear eye glasses to protect their eyes.

Lydia I also felt bad for the falcon
I wonder how he managed but you know, one claw is better than none
He might have survived after gaining his health back.
